Summary:Things could never stay normal in Hawkins. After spending the last four years rebuilding a sense of normalcy, the vanishing of your little brotherâs friend changes things in ways you never thought possible.
A/N: I modeled your outfits around Denise Huxtable and Brenda Sykes. I know a few of the outfits dipped a little into the 90s but weâre trend setters so⊠Iâll link outfits when I describe them so you can have a visual because her style is often pretty eclectic.

TW: Canon level violence, mentions of a missing child, nightmares, brief makeout (not with Steve), slight King Steve, mentions of going to therapy

You had been a little on edge since Joyce Byers called your house yesterday, inquiring about Willâs whereabouts. You could hear how frantic she was through the phone. You could only assume that this was how your mother mustâve felt.
Of course you were concerned about Will, but a pit grew in your stomach when only a few days earlier you started having nightmares again. Granted you always had nightmares. You would wake up screaming soaked in sweat, always about your days in the lab and usually about one in particular. After years of therapy you were able to tone down their severity. You no longer screamed bloody murder in the middle of the night, forcing the whole house awake. Those painful moments became still horrific but distant memories. They didnât send a shiver down your spine like they used to. That was until a few days before Joyce's call.Â
You saw something you had never seen before. Something so bizarre and terrifying, yet so real at the same time. It gave you the same feeling as the nightmare you had of the massacre at Hawkinâs lab. It was a tall and boney creature. Its skeleton covered in gray and glossy skin with fingers sharp enough to cut through metal. You wished that was the worst part, but of course it wasnât. You thought you were going to have a heart attack when it stalked up to you and opened its petaled face to scream at you, revealing rows and rows of razor sharp teeth. It was a horror lurking in the shadows waiting for the right moment to pounce. You began waking up screaming again, and again, and again. You wished you knew how to make it stop.
You couldnât help but feel that this thing might have a connection to Willâs disappearance, you just couldnât figure out how. Who were you supposed to tell about this? Ever since your escape, you kept tight lipped about what you experienced. You swore off your abilities wanting to pretend like you werenât cursed with them. That you were just like everyone else. When questioned by police, you told the chief that a non descript man threw you into his white van. Classic pervert trope. Of course with not much to go on, your case went cold. You wished that you could tell your story, but who would believe you?
After an amazing wake up call, your day started behind schedule. Your hair was taking forever and you had been debating with yourself in the mirror on which patterned fabric would work best with your pants, almost giving up on the outfit as a whole.
âShit!â You panicked when you read the time on your clock. Steve was supposed to be here in five minutes and you hadnât even eaten yet. You grab your backpack and bound down the stairs, rushing to take your seat at the dining table.
âYou were screaming in your sleep again.â Lucas commented as soon as you sat down.
âOh yeah?I didnât notice. Can someone pass the bacon please? Steveâs gonna be here any minute and Iâd like to finish eating before he gets here.âÂ
âI donât know why you still hang out with that boy.â your father complained from behind his newspaper, making you roll your eyes.
âCharles!â Your mother chided him, knowing how sensitive of a subject this was for the two of you.
âWeâve been over this, dad. Heâs still my best friend.âÂ
âAnd because sheâs in love with him.â Erica teased, making kissing noises as she brought her face closer to you.
âNo Iâm not. Weâre just friends.â You placed your hand on her face, pushing her away from you.Â
âKnock it off, Erica.â Your mother scolded. Right as you brought the bacon to your lips, you heard Steveâs distinct honking pattern.
âCrap, heâs here.â You got up from your seat in a hurry, throwing the bacon and two pieces of toast on your plate onto a napkin to take with you. You kissed your goodbyes before running out the door.
When you stepped outside, Steve was standing in his usual place. He was leaning against the passenger side of his car, arms impatiently folded.
âCome on, Sinclair, we're gonna be late.â He urged you to move faster.
âSince when did you care about being late?â You questioned when you finally made it to him.
âI donât but you do.â He replied, opening the door for you.
âOoo, can I have a piece of bacon.â He looked over at you after he started the car.
âNo, the bacon is mine, this is for you.â you held out one of the pieces of toast for him to take a bite from
 âWhat no peanut butter?â
âIf you want peanut butter so bad, you can go inside and get it yourself. Iâm sure my dad would love to share his peanut butter with you.â He narrowed his eyes at you.
âYou know what, I think Iâm good.â
âThatâs what I thought.â You chuckled, clicking your seatbelt.Â
âBy the way, Iâm having a little party tonight and Iâd love it if you came.â
âWith Tommy and Carol?â
âYeah, who else?â You rolled your eyes at that fact.
âI think Iâm good. I might hang out with the girls after soccer practice tonight.â
âPleeeeasse.â He begged with an exaggerated pout. When it seemed like your will wouldnât resolve, he brought out the big guns. He gave you the stupid big brown puppy eyes. The ones he would use to make you do incredibly dumb shit.
âI donât know. Iâll see after therapy.â You began to relent.
âGreat! so youâre coming.â Steve cheered.
âWhat?â You looked at him like he lost his mind.
âItâs kind of your thing at this point. You always sigh and say âI donât know. Iâll see after therapyâ and then you come over and we have the best night ever.â He explained.
âYeah, but thatâs when it's just us. I donât like hanging out with Tommy and Carol outside of school hours, and even then itâs too much.â You tried to reason.
âI donât force you to hang out with them.â
âYes, you do. You whine and cry when I don't. Your like an obsessive boyfriend.â
âSorry for wanting to hang out with my best friend.â
âDonât try that manipulation shit on me. I love hanging out with you Steve, but full offense, Tommy and Carol suck.â
âI know but, I donât have anyone else besides you that I want there.â He confessed, making your eyebrows clench in confusion.
âWhat about Nancy, she's practically your girlfriend at this point.â
âSure, but things are still kind of weird when Nancy hangs out with us. Itâs a weird energy. I know you can feel it too.â Ever since Steve and Nancy started dating, Tommy and Carol became wolves ready to pounce on their next meal. They took in her shy demeanor and ran with their antics as far as they could before Steve would âattemptâ to reign them in.
âThings are weird because Tommy and Carol are awful." You explained.
âExactly.â He nodded along.
âExactly what? Part of itâs your fault."
âWhatâs that supposed to mean?" He asked with furrowed brows.
âIt means you let those idiots get away with way too much. Punching Tommy in the arm and telling him to âshut upâ doesnât do what you think it does. Heâs a jackass who mooches off your popularity and he thinks he can do and say whatever, because you let him. When you grow a pair, maybe your friends wonât treat your girlfriend like shit.â
âWhat about you, they werenât weird with you.â
âThatâs because I donât want them to like me. Iâm only around them by circumstance. I hang out with your goofy ass cause you're practically glued to my side and theyâre practically glued yours. Itâs a fucked up chain of symbiosis. I think Nancy and I would both love it if you cut out the cancers.â
âAlright, they arenât that bad.â He tried to defend, earning your pointed eyes.
âYou are so lucky youâre handsome, Harrington.â
âSlow down there Sinlair, I have a girlfriend.â
âFine, I'll call you stupid next time. Is that better?â
âI think I prefer handsome."
âThatâs what I thought.â
âIâm serious though, come to my party. Hang out with your good ol pal Steve.â You rolled your eyes in faux annoyance. You already knew you were going, but you wanted to let him sweat a little bit.
âListen. Iâll think about it. I donât really want to be the fifth wheel tonight.â
âWhat about Jack? Bring him.â Steve offered.
âI think Iâm gonna break up with him. It might be a little confusing if I bring him to your party and then dump him.â You hesitantly confessed. Steve looked over at you with wide eyes. He brought a hand to his mouth, trying to slyly cover a satisfied smirk. He shouldnât be as happy about that as he is. Something about him irked him. He wasnât a bad guy by any means, but he just didnât like when he was around.
âWoah, slow down. When did you decide this?â
âLike a week ago. Iâve been trying to find the right time to do it.â You shrugged.
âA week ago?Why didnât you tell me?â As much as he cared about the information,he was more so concerned that you didnât tell him, something that became more of a trend after your escape.
âI didnât think you cared. You didnât even like the guy.â
âWhen did I ever say that?â
âYou didnât have to. Your eyes would basically glaze over every time I would talk about him and you would barely acknowledge him when he hung out with us. Anyway, things just arenât working anymore.â
âArenât working? Heâs like head over heels for you. Itâs a little annoying.â
âI know. Heâs a cute guy and great in bedâŠâ Steve gave you the side eye. âbut Iâm just not in the relationship the way I should be. I figure I should rip off the bandaid now before I really hurt him. Heâs a sweet guy but I donât think we're right for each other. He bought me farah faucet hairspray. What the hell am I supposed to do with that?â You pointed to your hair, making him chuckle. âI mean come on.â
âAt least get some Afro Sheen.â He suggested.
âExactly!â You nodded in agreement.
âLook, you can cut him loose tomorrow or something. Can you just bring him so that we can both be happy.â
âFine. Iâll bring him to your lame ass party.â
âAh! You're the best!â He reached over to sling his arm around your shoulder, pulling you closer to him to kiss your forehead.
âLet go! Youâre driving!â You remind him wriggling out of his grasp when you feel the car begin to drift.
âShit!â He put his other hand back on the wheel to straighten out, making you both breathe a sigh of relief. WHen Steveâs mind finally cleared, a wave of realization hit him.
âWait, did you regift that spray to me?â He looked at you bewildered. His suspicions were confirmed by your sudden silence. âI canât believe you're regifting me shit from your boyfriend!âÂ
âYou said you were out and I had a free bottle right there! Be grateful Harrington.â
When you walked up to the group after class, Jackâs arm slung over your shoulder, Steve and his goons were trying to convince Nancy to come to his party.
âSooo you in?â
âIn for what?â Nancy questioned, confused.
âNo parents, big house.â Carol spoke as if she was stupid.
âA party?â
âDin!ding!ding!â
âBut, itâs Tuesday.â
âItâs Tuesday. Oh my god.â Tommy mocked her, making you roll your eyes.
âCome on It'll be low key. It'll just be us.â Steve gave her that signature âking steveâ smirk. âWhat do you say, are you in or out?â
âIâll be there if it makes you feel better.â You chimed in, hoping that would make her feel comfortable. She was the main reason you were going in the first place. She was the first girl in a while that Steve seemed to actually be into for more than sex and you wouldâve felt really bad if you left her with the two assholes Steve called his friends. Before Nancy had a chance to answer, Carol decided to do what she does best. Bully and deride anyone she deems worthy, even in their worst circumstances.
âOh god, look.âShe spoke in disgust, all of you shifting your attention to Jonathon Byers hanging up missing posters of Will. Steve felt like he was looking into the past. He remembered what it had felt like to be Jonathon. To be so sacred and so fragile. To not know if the person you cared about the most was suffering, or worse. Dead. A chill ran down his spine at the memories creeping up on him. They made him unconsciously move closer to you. He needed to know you were still here before he spiraled like he used to.
âShould we say something?â Nancy questions.
âI don't think he speaks.â Carolâs words made your blood begin to boil.
âHow much you wanna bet he killed him?â Tommy teased.
âShut up!âSteve shoved his shoulder.
âDoes it help you two sleep at night knowing youâre the biggest assholes on the planet? His brother is missing and you still canât find it in yourself to be a normal human being.â
âI was just joking, you donât have to get so bent about it.â He brushed you off
âJoking? Whatâs so funny about this? Is it the part where a little boyâs family is worried sick because they canât find him or is it the part where he might be alone and scared or god forbid dead. I really want to know. Iâm sure Steve can give you an answer to one of those, right?â When he didnât respond you pushed further.
âDon't get all quiet now Tommy. I wanna know which one you think is funny.â Tommyâs jaw began to clench in anger. This kind of interaction wasnât new for the two of you. You never took shit from neither him nor Carol. Since it seemed Steve would never do it, you made it your little passion project to keep their egos in check whenever you had the chance to.Â
âHow bout this, Iâm gonna talk to Jonathon like a normal human being so that you can take your time and think real hard about your answer.â You gave him a tight lipped smile before walking over to the sulking teen.
âWhat is your problem man? Why would you say something like that around her?â Steve pressed him.
âWe were just joking alright.â Carol tried to defend her boyfriend.
âWell it wasn't funny, asshole.â
âHey.â You walked up to Jonathon, hoping you had fully shaken off your look of frustration.
âHey.â
âAny leads?â
âNo. Iâm planning to go out to my dadâs house and look for him there. I hope heâs there, but at the same time I donât. He would be safe, but not safe ya know.â You nodded solemnly.
âIâm sure you're tired of hearing this already, but Iâm here for you and the boys are too. I promised Lucas that I wouldnât tell anyone, but they went out last night to find Will.âÂ
âThatâs not safe
âI know, but you do crazy things for the people you love right?â
âWe do, but I-I donât know. I feel like Iâm spending more time trying to keep my mom from falling over the edge and then I end up feeling like Iâm not doing enough for him.â
âSpeaking from experience, Will knows that youâre doing everything you can to find him. Even if you feel like you arenât. He knows that you and your mom wonât stop looking for him. I knew that too. Itâs part of why Iâm even here today.â
âThanks. I-I appreciate it.â
âAnytime, Byers. Call if you need anything.â You gave him a sympathetic smile before walking back to the group, Nancy passing you on her way to Jonathon.
âDid you decide yet, Hagan?â
Once the school day ended, Steve went his usual route to meet you at your locker. He would have approached further until he saw you locked in a conversation with Jack. He knows that a break up between the two of you was on the horizon, but watching the two of you for some reason put a pit in his stomach, which is stupid. He liked Nancy. He liked her a lot, but to him Jack didnât seem worth your time.Â
âPick me up at around seven thirty so that we can get there by eight?â
âYeah, Iâll call you when Iâm about to leave.âÂ
âPerfect. Thank you.â
âOf, course.â He pecked you on the lips. âIâll see you tonight.â
He waved a quick âbyeâ to Steve, before walking to his own locker, leaving you and Steve alone.
âAw, you guys are so cute.â
âShut up!â You playfully punch his shoulder
âWHat you are, you and your little bench warmer. I canât believe youâre breaking up with him.
You're one to talk, you haven't won a championship yet Mr. Varsity. Youâve got about a year left. He's only on the bench, but you're starting five. Whatâs your excuse?â
âMy excuse is that I have a Sinclair breathing down my neck begging me to take her to therapy.â
âIt's just you and me, Harrington, no need to lie. If anyone is begging, it's you. I was perfectly content with my mom taking me, but nooo.â
âSure, but would your mom take you for a milkshake and fries before your appointment?â
âNo, but at least she lets me pick the music.â
âWhat do you have against The Cure?â
âNothing, but I thought that after almost twelve years some of my music taste would rub off on you at some point.â
âIt has, but sometimes I just want to listen to The Cure, so for today itâs my car, my rules.â
âNow you sound like my mom.â
âThere she is!â Steve cheered when he greeted you at the door. âNow the party can start.â
âAlright, calm down. Iâm not Princess Diana or anything.â You commented. You held onto Jackâs hand as Steve led you to his backyard. You realized that Steve was being incredibly liberal when he described his little function as a party. It was a kickback at best and even still, it was pretty lame. The music sucked (Tommyâs mixtape), the energy was weird, and the only thing to drink was shitty beer. You felt bad for dragging Jack out of the house for this. That feeling was made worse when you realized that Nancy brought Barbra with her. You liked her well enough. She didnât talk much and was pretty straight laced, so it was clear why she would be uncomfortable. The only person she felt comfortable with was Nancy and she had most of her attention focused on Steve. She was in the position that you didnât want to be in, but instead of the fifth wheel, she was the seventh.
When either you or Nancy tried to bring her in on some of the fun, she insisted that she was fine even though she was clearly not having a good time. It felt like she was watching the party from the outside in. SHe stayed reserved to her lounge chair while the six of you tried to squeeze what fun you could out of the party.
You knew it was coming before it happened. The gears were turning in Tommyâs head while his eye bounced between the pool and his girlfriend.
You doubled over in laughter, walking up to the pool with Nancy when you heard Carol scream and the subsequent splash that followed. The two of you were too busy in your shock and laughter to hear either of your boyfriends creeping up behind you. Before either of you knew what was happening, they pushed you in, both of them quickly jumping in after you.
You splashed water at Jack in retaliation before swimming to the poolâs edge.
âBarb, are you sure you donât want to join us? The poolâs heated so you wonât get cold.â
âThanks for the offer, but Iâm ok over here.â
âAre you sure?â She responded with a nod. You knew parties werenât for everyone, but you really wanted her to have a good time.
After about thirty minutes of swimming, you felt a tingle run down your spine when Jack swam close to whisper in your ear.
âDo you think Harrington will care if we occupied the guest room for a bit.â You looked over to Steve, his arms wrapped around Nancy. He probably wouldnât even notice if the two of you snuck off.
âI donât think heâd mind at all.â You accepted his proposition. You felt bad for agreeing considering the relationship was on borrowed time, but whatâs one more for the road right?
You led Jack upstairs to one of the guest bedrooms. One that was originally for a Harrington sibling, until they realized they barely had the time or care for one.
âWe have to make this fast. Theyâre gonna figure out what weâre doing pretty quickly.â You explained before pulling him into a heated kiss.
âYou know how quick I can be.â He pulled apart from you, each of you helping the other remove your tops. Before gently pushing you back into the bed. He climbed on top of you, his lips finding your once more. You brought your hands to the back of his neck, trying to pull him closer. You closed your eyes, leaning into the pleasure. You were ready to jump into the abyss with him until the darkness behind your eyelids transformed into flashing images of something terribly familiar.
You were seeing it again. The gray and glossy monster clearly designed to kill. It made your blood run cold. IN your nightmares it felt so far as if it were a danger coming from far away, but now it felt present. Like it was close enough to touch.Â
You were only pulled out of your trance when you heard a pained groan. Your eyes snapped open at the sound. You realized you had been digging your nails into Jackâs back like a catâs claws clinging into fabric.
âOh, my god. Iâm so sorry.â You promptly released him, your chest rising and falling in a panic.
âItâs ok. I think I might be into it actually.â He tried to soothe your anxieties. He began to lean back in until you stopped him. You had to see for yourself. You had to make sure that thing wasnât out there.
âShit! Did I go too fast?â He crawled off of you.
âNo, no. Itâs me. I-I just need to check something really quickly.â You rushed out, throwing on your shirt. âIâll be back in a minute!â You called behind you before slamming the door and running down the stairs. The first floor had been vacant. When you looked through the sliding glass door, you spotted Barbra, sitting on the edge of the pool.
âHey, where did everyone go?â You looked around suspiciously.
âUm, Steve brought Nancy upstairs a couple minutes after you left with Jack and I donât know where Tommy and Carol went.â
âUm, maybe you should go home Barb. I know it's not my place to kick you out but, I think Nancy is going to be a while and who knows when Tommy and Carol are coming back. I'm about to leave anyway so Jack can drive you home.â You desperately offered. You couldnât shake the bad feeling you had about her being out here at all let alone by herself.
âOh no, I can't go. Iâm Nancy's ride.â
âIâm sure Steve can give her a ride home.â
âMrs. Wheeler saw her leave in my car. I don't want her to get in trouble.â You were losing your mind. You wish you could control her mind and make her leave.Your anxiety only grows the more you survey the scene. Your ears listening for as much of a twig snap.
âListen, I just have a bad feeling about you being out here so just please sit inside.â
âItâs ok, I like the fresh air.â
âCan you at least do it until Tommy and Carol get back.â You felt a wave of relief wash over you when she finally seemed to give in.
When you went back to the room Jack was waiting patiently on the edge of the bed, his leg bouncing with excess energy.
âHey, I'm really sorry to do this to you cause we were just getting started, but I need you to take me home. I really wanted to do this, but I canât. Not right now.âÂ
âO-ok. Is everything fine?â
âIâll explain later ok, but right now we need to go.â
âDid something happen? Are you ok?â He questioned, taking in your nervous energy.
âYeah, I just have a lot on my mind right now and I just really need to go home.â
You waved 'bye' Barb while she was in the kitchen grabbing a drink on your way out the door with Jack. You only hoped she stayed there, but there was a chill that ran down your spine that told you she didn't.

I was in my mauri as I was making a new top for myself with beautiful shinny shells. Just as I was about to add the finishing touch, I heard a horn blare throughout the village. That sound only means two things, visitors..or war, I pray itâs just visitors. As I stepped out my mauri, I saw my people running towards the front of the village where giant beasts were circling until they finally landed against the sand. I ran to where all the commotion was and could finally see what was going on. It was forest Naâvi, what could they possibly want with reef Naâvi? I could see the beasts better and it was ikran. I've never seen one up close but my grandmother told me stories about them before she passed. May she rest with Eywa now.
It was a family of forest Naâvi. A father, mother, two sons, and two daughters. The youngest daughter held onto her motherâs leg as the family walked closer to us. I saw my father getting off his Skimwing along with my little sister diving back into the water after her ilu swam off. I was still in the back of the crowd as my people made an opening when they saw my mother come through. I still stood in the back because I didnât know if these Naâvi were dangerous or not.Â
The forest Naâvi father walked in front of his family with his hands up in surrender signaling that they werenât any danger to us, I guess it was okay now to go up there. As I started making my way to the front of the crowd, my people made an opening for me as they did for my mother and there was a clear trail for me to walk through as I was now close to the family when my father was speaking. The first family member I locked eyes with was the son, Iâm assuming the oldest son. He was very handsome, his skin was dark blue with stripes that contrasted perfectly with his bright yellowish eyes. He noticed me too as he stood there confidently, his confidence made him even more attractive.
I then noticed his younger brother making eyes at Tsierya, my younger sister, she let out a giggle as I chuckled at her little crush. Those two were definitely trouble. My brother, Aoânung, and his friends then made their way through the people and were quick to stare down the two brothers. I silently groaned at him not even knowing what he was about to do next but I could feel that it was going to be something stupid. The two brothers signed âI see youâ to my brother and his friends but they didnât even acknowledge it. Instead they sized them up and went over to touch their tails.Â
âIs that supposed to be a tail?âÂ
âSuch thin tails.â
I was quick to put a stop to the insults my brother and his friends were hurling out. âRoxto! Aoânung!â I hissed at the boys. I felt bad for the two brothers, they havenât done anything wrong and yet they have to deal with my brother and his friendâs ignorance. The younger brother looked defeated but the other remained with his head held high, his confidence slipped for a quick second but he hurried and regained it back.Â
âHow are they supposed to swim with those so-called tails?â Aoânung joked. I gave a quick smack to the back of his head as he winced in response while his friends laughed at him. âYou will stop your ignorance!â I demanded. Aoânung scoffed and went to go stand off to the side with his friends snickering after him. The two brothers had a look of amusement on their faces from my recent action. It was very much deserved, Aoânung is a bully to pretty much everyone and it seems like Iâm the only one keeping him in check.
I was so tuned out of the conversation going on between my parents and the forest Naâvi that I was confused when my father told me to show the family to their mauri. I blinked in confusion hoping that he would repeat himself. My father skeptically looked at me before speaking again.Â
âY/N, show them to an empty mauri. Thatâs where they will stay.â My fatherâs voice was always so loud and deep.
The crowd around us started scattering and going back to their duties. I then went over to help the family unpack their things along with Tsireya. I grabbed some bags before signaling them to follow me. I could hear the mother lowly complaining and I didnât judge, I would feel a bit upset if I had to live in a completely new environment. The eldest sibling caught up to me and was now on the side of me.Â
âThatâs a pretty name you have.â He complimented. My face started to heat up at the compliment, hints of red coating my light blue cheeks. âThank you.â I softly replied. I couldnât wait to tell my friends about this! I was trying so hard to keep cool in front of him, I didnât want him to know I have a crush on him. âWhatâs your name?â I asked the boy. He had a smile on his face as he answered.Â
âNeteyam.âÂ
I repeated his name to myself and I liked the way how easily it rolled off my tongue. I wanted to return the favor of compliments so I also told him that his name was pretty. He chuckled to himself at my words and instantly felt a wave of embarrassment wash over me. Ugh! Why would I say that?! âPretty, huh?â He teasingly asked. I made eye contact with him and I tried to explain myself but we were already at the mauri. âThank you, Y/N.â The dad thanked me as I sat their belongings down on the mauri floor and walked off in defeat with my hands covering my face as I scolded myself.Â
I could feel my sister staring at me as I walked off which made me want to curl up in a hole and die.
Itâs been several moons since the Sullyâs came to Awaâlutu and things have been going okay. Iâve grown closer to Neteyam more than anyone else and Tsierya has been growing closer with Loâak. And the reason why I say things have been going okay and not great is because ever since the Sullys got here itâs like my brother has been picking on them nonstop and for some reason Iâm the only one getting on to him about it. Itâs like my parents are just here for show. Any time Aoânung fucks up I always get blamed for it even though he is very much old enough to know right from wrong, you donât see Tsiereya acting like this and sheâs 14. Just last week Aoânung and his friends left Loâak for dead in the ocean. My dad tried to make Aoânung publicly apologize but Loâak took the blame instead for some reason.
Tsireya isnât as bad as Aoânung but she has her moments. She thought it would be a good idea for Loâak to bond with the outcast Tulkun, Payakan. Of course I scolded her for it, the family is already outcast, why draw more attention to them?Â
Everything is just becoming too much for me but at least I finally had someone to talk to about everything. Neteyam. He was the only one to ever understand me and what Iâm going through, what itâs like to always be held accountable for younger siblings.Â
Tonight a festival was being held to celebrate my fatherâs birthday. I ended up wandering off near the ocean and taking a seat on the cold sand beneath my feet. I liked the calmness of it, I just couldnât deal with being near my family right now, they were all getting on my nerves. All of the festival sounds were now background music, the sound of waves clashing against each other drowned it out. My ears flickered at the sound of footsteps coming from behind me. I whipped my head around and saw Neteyamâs tall, dark blue figure walking towards me. My face instantly softened at him.
We weren't dating but there was definitely a spark between us-at least thatâs what my friends tell me. But with Neteyam everything felt so easy and I could be myself around him. A lot of boys on the island only wanted me because I was the chiefâs daughter and they thought if they got with me then they might have a slight chance at being Oloâeyktayn..even though that might go to Aoânung even with me being the oldest.Â
âWhy are you out here by yourself?â Neteyam asked as he sat down next to me. I shrugged my shoulders and started writing random stuff in the sand with my finger. âThatâs not an answer.â He added with a chuckle. I sighed before responding.Â
âI just donât want to be around my family, thatâs all.âÂ
He nodded at my response. Neteyam understood why I felt the way I do about them.Â
âI get it, itâs stressful having to be the golden child and constantly keeping track of your siblings.â His voice sounded exhausted. He was tired too.Â
âYeah..â I muttered.
We sat in a comfortable silence for a bit but I couldnât help noticing Neteyamâs face. It looked like he was in deep thought or something. I finally mustered up the courage to ask him whatâs wrong. His poster was sort of hunched as he had one arm on his knee. His exhausted then met mines.Â
âI just..I wanna go home. I miss it.â It sounded like it hurt him to say that. Everyone is used to seeing Neteyam as the boy who never complains and always adjusts.Â
I gave him a soft smile as my hand touched his thigh. âWhat do you miss most about the forest?â I asked, hoping to cheer him up. He looked up at the night time sky before answering. I liked the way his eyes glowed in the moonlight.Â
âThe food, the way the forest lit up at night,â He started off. It was like he was reminiscing on all the times he had there. âAnd not to brag but I was practically royalty status there.â He jokingly added as I playfully slapped his arm. âItâs true!â He laughed.
âWhatever you say, Mr. Golden boy.â I teased. Neteyamâs laughter started to fade and thatâs when I noticed his sad expression from earlier appeared on face again.Â
âYeah,â he muttered. âThatâs kinda the problem.â
Now I felt bad for teasing him. I could see his eyes start to water as he looked off into the distance.Â
âLoâak screws up, I fix it. Tuk cries, I fix it. Kiri needs something, Iâm there.â I stayed silent letting him vent to me. âI donât mind, Iâm their big brother, thatâs my job..to be there for them but-sometimes I just wanna be myself.â He expressed.
I understood exactly where he was coming from. âI get it.â I stated as he then looked over at me.Â
âAoânung messes up, somehow itâs my fault. Tsireya does something reckless, I shouldâve stopped her.â
âItâs like Iâm never good enough no matter what I do.â I finished.Â
All of a sudden I felt my eyes start to water up. I tried my best to not cry but my body couldnât help it. Low sobs fell from my mouth as the tears flowed down my cheeks. Neteyam instantly pulled me into his arms for a hug. I didnât push him away or attempt to fight him off..I just accepted him. That was all I ever wanted, for someone to see me for who I am.
âItâs not fair!â I sobbed into his arms. His large hands softly rubbed my back as I continued. âAnd if something happens to them..thatâs on me too.â I choked out.Â
âItâs never fair..â Neteyamâs voice was low and cold.Â
Ever since the Sullyâs got here I couldnât help but to get the feeling that someone bad was going to happen. The feeling only started to rise more when I got close with Neteyam, it just felt like something was going to take him from me.Â
All good things have to come to an end.Â
I pulled away from his embrace and we both stared at each other. We both saw each otherâs brokenness, our true selves. His hand came to my face and his thumb rubbed over my plump lips. I searched his eyes to see what he was feeling but the only thing I could see was hurt.Â
Before I knew it, his lips were on mine. Iâve been dreaming of this moment since the day he got here. It was like sparks started flying the second his lips touched mine. One of his hands came to the back of my head making the kiss deeper.Â
Our tongues fought for dominance but his of course won. It was like he wanted to taste me. It was a night where we wanted to just forget everyone else and be ourselves.Â
Itâs been three days since Neteyan and I shared that intimate night on the beach. Every time I would try to talk to him it was like he always had some chore to do or he would avoid me the whole day. I even tried talking to Loâak to see what the problem was but even he didnât know. His guess was just as good as mine.Â
Was the sex really that bad for him to avoid me? I felt terrible about myself, I just gave my body away and now he doesnât even want to talk to me. I gave Neteyam a part of myself and heâs acting like I donât exist. I was staring at him from a distance as he sat by the ilus with his feet in the water. He looked in deep thought, I wanted to go over and talk to him but I figured it wasnât worth the embarrassment. I gave one last look back at him before walking to my mauri.Â
My mother was preparing dinner and usually her cooking always smelt good but today something was off. It was like a really bad odor that wouldnât go away. I gagged when I walked into the mauri, I wanted to vomit. My mouth was watering like the bile was about to come up. My mother noticed my face and instantly walked up to me.Â
âMy child..what is the matter?â Her hands touched my face as she checked over me. I quickly shook my head.Â
âNothing, mother.â
My voice was shaky and quiet. She knew my words were a lie. She looked me up and down before going back over to the food, Iâm glad she didnât question any further. Eywa must really be on my side today.
It was now officially a week later and I still have yet spoken to Neteyam-well he still hasnât spoken to me. And Iâve been feeling more sick than usual. The thought of pregnancy was a recurring thought but that was a scary thought. It could be a possibility..Neteyam did in fact not pull out.Â
I donât want to be pregnant..Iâm only 16. For goodness sake Iâm still in training to be the next Tsahik, I have so much ahead of me. How would my family react? How would Neteyam and his family react? How would the clan react to a half Omatikaya and Metkayina baby? The clan already judges his family for having sky people blood.Â
There was a way I could find out if I was with child. My mother has been out the mauri all day and she had all kinds of herbs laying around..specifically the Warbonnet Fern. You rub it on your skin and if you have a reaction to it in a couple of minutes then you are with child. I slowly stepped in the mauri making sure it was actually empty before I went to my motherâs herbs. I finally grabbed it and began grinding it down with some water and rubbing the paste onto my skin.Â
I let it set and began cleaning up my mess before my mother got back. It was time to wipe it off and after it was all off my arm my breath hitched. A large welt on my arm began to appear..I was with child. I wanted to scream, cry, there were too many emotions running through my head. How am I supposed to tell Neteyam? My family? Iâm too young to be a mother.Â
I fell to the floor and began to sob to myself. Iâm supposed to be the golden child that does no wrong and I messed that up. Iâm supposed to be a role model for all the young girls in my clan. My sobs were so loud that I didnât hear the flat open. Aoânung and Tsireya immediately rushed to my side.Â
âSister, what is wrong?â Tsireya worrily asked.
âDid someone hurt you?!â Aoânung asked as he checked my body for bruises.
I looked up at both of them and I wanted to cry even more. I never really cried in front of my siblings, itâs usually the other way around.Â
My lips frowned and before I knew it the words came out of my mouth, it was like I had no control.
âIâm pregnant.â
It was the first time I said it outloud. It was like the world stopped and everything was silent. My siblings looked at each other before looking at me. Tsireya was quiet but Aoânung was desperate for answers.
âWho did this to you?â His voice was stern yet low. He had that intense look in his eye as he was crouched down to my level on the floor.
I turned my head at his words, too embarrassed to confess. But Tsierya answered for me.
âNeteyam?â she softly said.
More tears started sliding down my face when hearing his name. Aoânung instantly stood to his feet.Â
âThat Skxawng got you pregnant?!â I flinched at how his words boomed through the mauri. Even as the big sister, I sometimes got scared when Aoânung got angry. Unlike our father who is very calm and collected, Aoânung is very hot headed like our mother.
Tsireya gave me an apologetic smile as she softly rubbed my hand. But Aoânung was in a fit of rage.Â
âIâm gonna kill him!â He spat.Â
I hurried and ran to his side to try and stop him from leaving. âAoânung! No!â I begged but he pushed me off him. His face had a snarl on it. âThat bastard doesnât get to just come to our home and ruin you!â He shot back. Aoânung walked out the mauri to go look for Neteyam.
I couldnât do anything but sob into my sisterâs arms.
NETEYAMâS POV
Itâs been a week since I talked to Y/N, I was trying everything to avoid her. I didnât want to avoid her but I had to, I couldnât give her all of myself yet. And right now all my dad wants me focused on is my younger siblings, mostly Loâak.Â
Y/N tried talking to me a couple of times but I shut her down every time and said I was busy. I just wish things werenât like this, if we were to ever date our parents and the clan would have so much to say about us. Y/N was the first girl Iâve ever been intimate with and I had to just walk away like it was nothing.Â
I would see her around and she looked more sad than usual and was mostly by herself now.Â
It was turning dark outside and I urged Kiri and Tuk to go home before mom and dad came to look for them. I was walking back from the ilus with Loâak as he was telling some story about him and Tsireya the other day. I was happy that my baby bro found someone to connect with.Â
As I looked up from the sand I saw an angry Aoânung coming our way. I mentally groaned to myself. What now? Loâak immediately stood at attention when he saw him coming our way.Â
âAre you here to pick another fight?â Loâak scoffed but Aoânung walked straight past him and walked over to me.Â
âYou got my sister pregnant?!â
His words made me freeze. I what?! My blood ran cold. I tried to speak but nothing came out. Loâak was looking between us with his jaw dropped.Â
âSo youâre really just gonna play dumb?â Aoânung retorted.Â
Memories of that night started coming back to me. I wasnât careful at all. I winced at the thought and placed my focus back on Aoânung.
âSheâs pregnant?â I repeated the question because I just couldnât believe it.Â
âYeah, and she was breaking down crying about it.â He coldly said.Â
Y/N was dealing with this by herself all week..she needed me most and I just left her. Thatâs probably what sheâs been trying to talk to me about all week. I canât imagine how she mustâve felt.Â
âWhere is she?â I asked but Aoânung was about to charge towards me but Loâak immediately stepped in between us.Â
âConsidering what happened last time..you shouldnât be starting any more fights.â Loâak teaseed. Aoânung hissed at the both of us before walking off.Â
âDamn bro, you knocked up the chiefâs daughter?â Loâak joked and raised his hand up for a high five but I shut him down.Â
âNowâs not the time, Loâak.â I stated before walking off and going to look for Y/N.
Iâve been looking for her for over 20 minutes, it was like she wasnât even here..until I heard cries coming from the sandy forest.
I pushed a giant leaf back and saw Y/N sitting in the sand with her knees to her chest, sobbing to herself.Â
"Yawne.â I called out and she whipped her head around to me. She looked surprised to see me. âWhatâre you doing here?â Y/N sniffled. I made my way over to her and sat down next to her.Â
âAoânung told me..â I whispered. She nodded her head and I could tell she was trying not to cry. âIâm sorry.â She apologized but I shook my head. âYou have nothing to apologize for..I shouldâve been more careful and shouldnât have avoided you all week.â I expressed. She took a breath before speaking up again. âWhy did you avoid me?â Her tone made me want to cry, she sounded so broken.
I looked straight ahead of her because I didnât have the guts to look her in the eye.Â
âBecause I didnât know how to give you all of myself.â
Y/N grabbed my hand and laid her head on my shoulder. We sat in a comfortable silence.
I finally made my way back to the mauri and everyone was asleep except for Kiri and Loâak. âBrother! Iâve been worried sick about you!â Kiri expressed as she ran to hug me. I hugged her back as Loâak stared at me with his arms crossed.Â
âSo you gonna explain or?â Loâak asked as he walked up to me and Kiri.Â
Kiri looked at both of us, confused on what Loâak was talking about. âExplain what?â She asked as I looked down at the floor.Â
There was no getting out of this.Â
âI got Y/N pregnant.âÂ
The sentence left Kiri shocked. Her hand immediately went to cover her mouth and Loâak just looked at me. I couldnât tell what he was feeling. Was he disappointed?Â
âYouâre going to be a father!â Kiri whispered in excitement as she ran to hug me. I always loved that about Kiri, she always made me believe that everything would be okay. I donât know how Iâm gonna break the news to my parents.
But all I know is that Iâm gonna be there for Y/N.

Everyone knew Roman had a crush on you, it was obvious..to everyone but you. He treated you differently from his past assistant and he put you above everyone else on set like you were the only thing that mattered. He thought somewhere down the line you would fall for him. But that thought was erased from his head the second Luke Wilson walked on set. He was the lead male actress who played Billy Loomis, the guy was a total heart throb, one of the main reasons he was picked for the role.
Luke was charming to everyone, but when it came to you it was like a different charm. He wanted you and he made that very clear even though you were always quick to deny his advances. You wanted something serious and you knew that would never happen with a young actor in his prime. You wanted someone older, wiser, and mature..Luke was none of those things-well he was a year older than you but thatâs besides the point.
Today, you, Roman, the writers of the movie, and the main cast were doing a cold read and going over some stuff in the script that needed to be changed. You were all sitting in a board room, you of course were sitting next to Roman and Luke was sitting across from you gawking at you like you were a piece of meat. Youâd be lying if you said it made you uncomfortable, you like the feeling of being looked at-being wanted by someone.Â
Roman also noticed the gawking and was quick to interrupt.
âYou gonna keep staring at her like that or are you gonna finish reading your script?âÂ
Romanâs voice was cold and sharp, he wanted to embarrass Luke. My mouth opened but nothing came out, I wanted to laugh so bad but I stayed quiet. All eyes went to Luke as he stuttered words out. âWhatâre you talking about?â Luke scoffed with one of his hands up. I have no idea why heâs trying to play dumb when heâs already been caught.Â
âDonât insult my intelligence.â Roman snapped. His gaze was intense and Luke was intimidated by it, under that cocky facade was a scared, immature, young man. Everyone in the room was now staring at Roman including me. It was kind of hot seeing your boss getting all worked up like this..especially over you.Â
âUhm-how about we all take a 10.â One of the writers said from across the room as several people agreed and got up from their seats including Luke. Everyone pretty much left the room and the only ones left were you and Roman.Â
âAll that for me? You shouldn't have.â You jokingly said to Roman but his face was still serious.Â
âYou didnât see the way he was staring at your boobs for damn near 10 minutes straight?â Roman was irritated by the idea that another man was even looking at you that way. You were amused by his irritation but nonetheless wanted to calm him down. You softly grabbed his hand and started massaging it. His face softened at the touch and his eyes met yours.
âI thought it was hot that you stood up for me.â You smirked. Roman rapidly blinked in shot at your words. Was he dreaming? âY-You thought it was what?â He stuttered as he hurriedly pushed up his slipping glasses.Â
âYou heard me.â
Poor guy was lost for words, you decided to kick it up a notch and place a quick peck on his soft lips. He wasnât expecting that at all. You then stood up from your chair and told him youâd see him a bit. His cheeks were red and he was all flustered from the kiss as he saw you walking off.

Great, here I am stuck cleaning up all this fucking blood. The kill wasnât even supposed to happen this way-I mean I had a whole plan executed the way I wanted but noo, she wanted to fight back. Chrissy was supposed to be unaware that I was following her, she was supposed to be an easy target but I guess she really wanted to live. The kill ended up being messy, I hacked her with an axe in her living room and Iâm pretty sure you now understand how the blood got everywhere.Â
And I mean there was blood everywhere. It was splattered on the couch, the wall, the carpet, and the plants in the living room. My goal was to plan the murder on Casey Becker. I couldnât stand that stupid bitch. The blame on her wouldâve been believable, everyone knew Casey hated Chrissy. I was hoping to catch Chrissy distracted and suffocate her with a chloroform soaked rag and drag her body to Caseyâs house.Â
I never liked Chrissy or Casey, theyâve been stuck up bitches since middle school. But my hatred rose even more for them when they got with Billy and Stu. Billy and Stu were my friends so it was sure I never had a shot with either but still, I didnât like seeing them with anyone else-hell I donât even like seeing them with Sid and Tatum right now. But Chrissy and Casey did Billy and Stu wrong so itâs a must that I handle it.Â
Iâm glad I kept bleach and some more cleaning products in my car just in case things got messy. I had placed tarp all in my trunk and carried Chrissyâs body like it was nothing and placed her in the trunk before going back inside and cleaning up the blood bath and any evidence I was there. It took me about an hour to finish cleaning, not too bad. I then hopped back into my car and drove to Caseyâs house. I was feeling bold tonight and didnât have a mask on, just all black clothing.Â
It was a bit of a drive to Caseyâs house since she lived in the countryside but when I was driving into her driveway I could see and smell smoke coming out of her house. The hell? I drove further into the driveway before placing the car in park. I tried my best to ignore the smoke but it was such a strong odor. I pushed through though and dragged Chrissyâs body out the trunk. I dragged her all throughout the yard making sure her blood stained the grass. My body instantly froze when I heard a whisper. I didnât see any cars in the driveway. Am I imagining things or is there someone here besides Casey?Â
I brushed it off but my heart was racing at the fear that someone might be watching me commit a crime. As I made it all the way into the front yard I immediately dropped Chrissyâs lifeless body onto the grass. I wasnât imagining things, there were two people in ghost masks hanging Casey Beckerâs dead, gutted body onto a tree. My eyes widened at the sight of her body, it was like her guts were spilling out of her stomach and her white sweater was soaked in blood.
The two people looked at me and I looked at them. Should I fear them right now? Are they gonna murder me next? Different outcomes of this were racing through my head but they were quickly put to a stop once one of them spoke up, âY/N?!â One questioned and I tilted my head at the familiar voice.
 âStu?!âÂ
The other guy just looked between the both of us while Stu took his mask off and threw his hands in the air. âThe hell are you doing here? You killed Chrissy?!â Stuâs voice didnât even have a hint of worry or sadness, he was cheerful-amused even at the sight in front of him. But the person beside him on the other hand was simply annoyed, the body expression wasnât hard to read. âDo you ever shut the fuck up?!â The other guy groaned as he hit Stu in the stomach. That voice was no other than Billy fucking Loomis. Now donât get me wrong, I always had a thing for Billy and Stu but Billy was the main one I wanted.Â
Iâve always been obsessed with Billy, his cold mysterious demeanor and those dark chocolate killer eyes always did it for me.Â
Stu winced from the hit in the stomach he received from Billy. âSo what? Youâre a killer now too?â Billy scoffed as he took his mask off revealing that handsome face of his. I was still trying to take all this in-my best friends are murderers. âYou two killed Casey Becker.â It was supposed to come out as a question but instead it came out as a statement. âOh come on, youâre not so innocent either.â Stu retorted as he pointed at Chrissyâs dead body. Billy hummed in agreement as I rolled my eyes and huffed. âThatâs besides the point and which one of you idiots set the house on fire?â I asked.
Billy quickly pointed at Stu with his knife. I let out a chuckle because Stu is so idiotic he probably didnât even mean to set the house on fire. âSooo..â Billy started off. I raised my brow ready to hear what he had to say next. âYou gonna explain what thatâs about orrr?â He pointed at Chrissyâs lifeless body lying in front of the three of us. âI was gonna blame the murder on Casey.â I nonchalantly said as the boys nodded their heads in understatement.Â
All three of our visions immediately looked behind me as we saw police sirens flashing in the distance. Shit! Some neighbor probably called because of the smoke. âWe gotta get out of here!â I stated as I ran back to my car with the boys trailing behind. I side eyed them when they hopped in my car. âYou idiots came here to murder her and didnât even drive?â I questioned because I was so dumbfounded by their stupidness. âYeah, yeah, who cares? Drive!â Billy demanded and I did as so.
