POTO: Modern Halloween Headcanons
Christine: Loves Halloween to bits. Still dresses up even as an adult, and is usually either a fairy, a princess, or a fairy princess. Makes all her costumes from scratch and refuses Raoul's offers to buy her one from the store (she did cave and let him buy a sewing machine, though). Thinks every child looks adorable in their costume. Fills her treat bowl with chocolates.
Raoul: Loves Halloween almost as much as Christine does. Covers his house in orange lights and cobwebs. Dresses up as either a prince or a sailor and sometimes does a couples costume with Christine. Play-fights pirate/bandit/ninja trick-or-treaters and hams it up when he's defeated. Has a fake but realistic-looking prop sword and allows kids to hold it if they ask.
Erik: Very much a “dang kids, get off my lawn!” kind of guy. Decorates his house with a lot of spooky props, fake skeletons, tombstones, and severed limbs. Puts out a bowl with one of those fake hands attached for the treat-or-treaters with a “JUST TAKE ONE” sign on it. Occasionally jumps out of the bushes to scare the kids, though he doesn't hurt them. Somehow manages to be the house that gets the most treat-or-treaters, much to his confusion.
The Persian/Daroga: Doesn't dress up, but he does wear a knitted sweater that has fall leaf patterns on it. Sits on his porch with a bowl and gives the kids candy by hand. Very polite and courteous to all the trick-or-treaters and will tell ghost stories if they ask for one. All in all acts like a cool uncle/grandpa.
Meg: Not only does she dress up, she still goes out trick-or-treating with the other neighborhood kids. Wears both store-bought and homemade costumes, her favorites being ballerinas and slasher-movie villains. Will eat all of her Halloween candy in one night if her mother or Christine isn't around to stop her.
Madame Giry: Usually gets roped into helping Meg make her costumes. Will sit at home and greet trick-or-treaters when they ring her doorbell. The kids are kind of intimidated by her, but she makes the best homemade Rice Crispy treats so she gets plenty of visitors. Sometimes wears a witch's hat while answering the door.
Carlotta: Sees Halloween as another way to be in the limelight. Attends a ton of Halloween parties dressed as famous characters in operas. Her costumes are beautifully designed and she gets a ton of compliments, but no one knows who she's supposed to be.
