I Love Her

Everyday I wake up and tell myself I hate you. Yet every night, you’re the one I think about before I go to sleep.

You don’t deserve my love but I can’t stop giving it to you.

At this point I see two options: I can tell you I'm in love with you, you will reject me, and we'll never speak again. Or I can tell you I hate you, burn my bridges, and we'll never speak again. Either way, we'll end our contact, allowing my unrequited love for you to perish.

Maybe one day someone will ask me what I want and my answer will finally stop being your name.

For some reason my mind put you on a pedestal, and now I can’t seem to knock you off.

If I know that we would never work out, why do I want you so badly?

If I tell you I'm in love with you I'm going to ruin our friendship. But if I continue to keep my feelings a secret I know I'm never going to get over you.

Don’t complain to me about your breakup. Even though the relationship ended, you were still lucky enough to experience it. Try being in love with someone for over two years without any form of reciprocation. Then you can come talk to me.

Your absence affects me far more than it should.

I don't know how much longer I can take this. I don't know how much longer I can be around around you and pretend like I'm not in love with you.

It was foolish of me to think that I could just make my feelings for you disappear. I thought that if I dated someone new I could make myself fall in love with them instead. I guess should have known that love doesn't work like that.
