I don’t post these articles to be alarmist. It’s too late for that.
I post so that going forward a growing number of us may consider that those in high positions hoarding resources, power and influence and who are also advocating increasing drilling, mining and birthrates are ACTING COMPLETELY INSANE.
This same INSANITY - whether mental or Systemic - has ruled the world since Antiquity. This INSANITY is poisoning the world in the same way the bacteria poised themselves in the sealed Petrie jar in 8th grade science class.
A MODEST PROPOSAL: After the coming economic collapse wipes out 90% of the wealth of the elite who act as if insane, we TURN OUR BACKS ON REPEATING INSANITY. INSTEAD CONSIDER A SUSTAINABLE economic system which limits the concentration of resources and power and influence in too few hands.
Or we just repeat the past until we realize that a species that fails to regulate hoarding while generating metastatic growth provides a conclusive explanation for the seeming Fermi paradox.
Candidly I’m not optimistic. Self-interest and extrinsic cultural identity may be too strong. But one is obligated to try.
