Me
My name is London (she/her) because that’s what a name generator decided I would be called, so we’re going with it. I write stuff sometimes, usually involving scientists, dragons, and/or gay magic girls.
For those on mobile, the link to my AO3 page is here.
My asks and DMs are open! If you want to chat about anything writing or fandom related, go for it! Don’t be afraid of bothering me. Send an ask, submit a post, spam my fics with comments—do what you like (as long as, you know, you don’t be a jerk).
Current WIP(s)
The Mad Witch. A post-canon HPHM fic that follows Lilianna Flores (Jacob’s sibling), a Magizoologist who dropped off the face of the Earth for five years. The fic features a MC x Merula pairing and heavy LGBTQ+ themes. Status: Being put to bed.
Rosemary Reaper. A post-canon Fallout 4 longfic in the works. Updates can be found here. Status: Genuinely in progress, I swear.

I’ve been thinking about the dilemma of finishing The Mad Witch.
For a lot of reasons, I want to put this fic to bed. The problem is how, and for the longest time I’ve been stuck between two options. Do I—
Abandon the fic, which got me through the lowest point in my life, on a grim cliffhanger?
Keep writing and posting as normal, ignoring the worsening taint on the source material and what that says about my values and regard for others?
After some thought, I’ve decided to settle on a third option: give you what I have left.
Here’s what that’ll look like:
I’ve partially written Chapters 45-49. I will finish those and post as normal.
I will write bullet-pointed outlines of Chapters 50-62, occasionally interspersed with more detailed scenes. These will be posted in place of complete chapters.
I will fully write Chapter 63, the final chapter, to bring closure to the fic.
I will post all chapters, fully written and outlined, all at once in one big, final update. As a result, you still won’t see a fic update for a while, but I promise one exists.
In other words, the next TMW update will be the final one.
This is the best way I can think of to bring the story to an end as quickly and finally as possible. Five chapters will be far more manageable than 20, and you guys still get to experience the end of this journey with me, even if it’s not quite “complete.”

At my work place, if you want to know what sort of highly professional conversations happen during our meetings, which exclusively consist of experienced biologists with advanced science degrees, they sound like this:
Data manager: [posting a picture completely unrelated to the ongoing planning session] By the way, what bird is this?
Biologist 1: Yellow.
Biologist 2: A cutie!
Data manager: I think it’s a female summer tanager?
Biologist 3: The wing bars make me think it’s actually a western.
Biologist 2: I was thinking the same, but I forgot the word for western.
writing is a fantastic hobby but the kicker is it's a lot harder to show your friends as it's progressing. with a sketch i can show someone and they'll be like oh that's an apple. you can't do that with words until you get a lot of them down. so i'll just be like damn fuckin. uhh. check this out
that's right. and that's just one of the several words i know

I appreciate that my org pays me a lot more to work from the regional office. And I love that I get to support more biologists this way, even if I miss doing the field work myself.
That being said, when 90% of my job is writing and editing, guess what the very last thing I want to do when I get home is.
Which video game character do you most identify with (and why, if you like)?

I was going to say Alex from Life is Strange: True Colors because of the way she processes emotion, but now that I think about it, I might actually be Ryan... The guy memorizes bird songs for fun.

If you could choose a game to live in, what would it be?

Endless Ocean: Blue World. Run a dive company in the South Pacific, get paid to fly all around the world, explore places no one else gets to see...hell yeah.

Journey, again. Every time I'm in some sort of ADHD/anxiety/emotional spiral, I play it, and it fixes me fairly quick. Easy emotional catharsis in the span of an hour.

Alan Wake, which is about the limit of my poor tolerance for scary games. I can gleefully write and read horror, but struggle to watch or play it.
That being said, I adore the psychological horror in Alan Wake. The game starts by establishing rules for what is safe and unsafe...and then proceeds to repeatedly break those rules and destroy any sense of security the player may have at the worst moments. Fun.

Not to spoil a 20-year-old game, but the Darth Revan reveal in SW KOTOR blew my preteen mind when I first played it back in 2012. It's one of those well set up twists that seems obvious in hindsight but I still never expected the first go around.
Hilariously, my brother, who was planning to play after me, happened to glance over my shoulder at that moment. He was so mad about accidentally spoiling himself haha.
What game would you erase from your memory just to experience it for the first time again?

It's been over two weeks since the April Fools event was relevant, but I'm too wired to sleep and too tired to do anything else, so I'm gonna start clearing my ask box.
Answer: Journey, my favorite game ever. I replay it all the time, but there's no recapturing the emotional intensity of a first playthrough.

I’ve mentioned before that I’ve been writing as a hobby since I was 10 or 11, which (unfortunately for my tiny apartment) means I’ve accumulated 15-ish years-worth of notebooks. To free up some space, I’ve embarked on an archaeological expedition to scan my old writing. And oh boy are there some gems in here.
Like 11-year-old me’s short-lived (4-page) career as a comic book writer/artist, inspired by a shoebox battle station that my childhood best friend and I built for our little cat figurines when we were 6:
I can’t decide what’s funniest:
That the top secret command center has glass walls and a glass door
“Agent Bush”
The lack of an observable brain cell in Angel’s photo
“collar can be used to choke”
I was way too proud to show off my vocabulary knowledge of “green” meaning “inexperienced”
The fact that this supposedly new battle station is so underfunded that a) it is staffed by only two personnel and b) two of the security monitors are cracked beyond repair
The anime-style zoom in on Sheila’s eyes
“Not again”
“Kill Switch”
11-year-old me had a hilarious grasp of environmental storytelling, apparently.
