It's interesting to note that, as far as I can tell, ツキワケ isn't a real Japanese word. I interpreted as 「月分け」, which I initially took as meaning something along the lines of "divided into moons". Since asian countries originally followed a lunar calendar, the character for moon is also the character for month. This lends itself to the idea that ツキワケ an artistic method for signifying the idea of a division by months, which makes sense contextually. I personally like to think of it as an emphasis on the subtle changes that occur during a season, and the entire song is translated using this interpretation as a baseline.
