Love is seeking the good of the other.
If you do not seek their good, you are not showing them love. If they are not seeking your good, they are not loving you either.
Stop tolerating bad behavior in relationships on the premise “but we love each other!” Stop allowing abuse and victimization on the premise “but he/she loves me!” Stop permitting dangerous behavior, violent behavior, addictive behavior, dishonest behavior, STOP.
If you love them, you seek their good. If they love you, they will seek yours. Stop framing love as goo goo feelings or infatuation or attraction or “liking something very much” or even sex. Start talking about and viewing Love with its actual definition.
