Loki: Absolute freak elf-giant who does graceful acrobatics and speaks in riddles and tells crude jokes. Is invited to the function but no one trusts him because they have no idea what he will do next

Loki will be there when you feel outcast and alone and friendless. In those dark stormy days in your head he will be that candle that burns bright and it will never go out.

Don't have a good family? Me neither! But you know who is a Great dad/brother/uncle etc? Loki! Also the other gods. A whole new family that will fight for you and not abandon you.

He's not mad at you either btw. Communication is key and if you have worries just ask. He's not here to harm you or make you feel like hell. He's warm and silly but serious and stern if he has to be.

Somebody wrong you? Tell good ole carrot top. He may or may not make sure nobody finds their body. 😁👍

Marisa, aka Nothingbutart, is an amazing artist on Tiktok & Instagram. I saw quite a few of her videos on Tiktok and her art style was both gorgeous and interesting : I thought it would fit well the scene of Loki's punishment.

So of course, I commissioned her, and the result is as brilliant as I had hoped it would be <3

The Æsir hate his species and want to commit genocide against them.

They burnt his first wife (three times) who he had numerous children with, who were "monstrous" for the Æsir, but normal for his species.

They imprisoned one of his children, threw one into the ocean, rode one into battle, and banished the other to Helheim.

Then he marries into the Æsir, and has two more Æsir children with his new wife Sigyn.

He gives them Mjölnir, Skíðblaðnir, Gleipnir, Hringhorni, Gullinbursti, and Freyr's sword among other gifts.

They keep killing his species. They won't release his "monstrous" children from imprisonment.

He gives a weapon to a blind man to kill their favorite "unkillable" god. Oðinn's child.

He shows up to Oðinn's dinner party, who swore on a blood oath that he would always share his mead with Loki. Loki insults everyone there, allegedly kills a random guy, sets the building on fire.

They catch him, turn the one Æsir child into a wolf, it mauls his other Æsir child, and they imprison him with the entrails of his own child.

They think Loki is untrustworthy because he's Jotnar? But he's only half, on his father's side. Odin is ALSO half Jotun on his mother's. And most of his sons are 3/4 Jotun - so much more Jotun than Loki XD

They blame Loki for being married to a Jotun lady? But so are Njord & Feyr. And Thor's lover is also a Giantess (though her parents are Aegir & Ran, and therefore allies of Asgard). And ALL OF ODIN'S BABY MAMAS ARE FROM JOTUNHEIM.

They blame Loki for his "special" kids? Can we speak for one minute about Gejfon's sons??? ^^' (half Jotuns too, btw)

They blame Loki for killing Baldr, but how many giants (and dwarves!!!) did Thor kill during his rampages?

They call Loki a Trickster... but you know who ALSO is a Trickester? ODIN. And he uses his power in a much more ruthless way than Loki ever does ^^'

The fact is : mainstream retellings are NOT helping, because even in Snorri's Eddas, Loki still has Aesirs friends (TRUE friends, I'm not talking about Thor or Odin) - and their bond with him SHOWS Loki is NOT the monster they'd have you believe.

Would Loki be called "Hoenir's loyal friend" if he was not worthy of said friendship?

Would Sigyn stay by his side, CHOOSE to help him and support him, if he was abusive or evil?

NO SHE WOULD NOT. Divorce was a thing among gods. She could have divorced if they did not love each other or he was awful to her. But she did not: BECAUSE THEY LOVED EACH OTHER AND LOKI WAS A GOOD HUSBAND AND FATHER.

I find it very interesting that modern & mainstream retellings tend to erase those two relationships and isolate Loki even more, when both Hoenir & (most of all) Sigyn were PROOF Loki had friends and was lovable and not "pure evil".

Norse folklore kept a more accurate version of Myth!Loki I think, with the Loka Tattur and the idea that Loki was a protector of Children...

(Meanwhile, Thor had kids slaves, and we all remember what Odin did to Vali & Narvi...)

Retellers just NEEDED a villain in their version of the myths. They CHOSE the Aesirs as the heroes, and therefore, Loki became the LAST BOSS with Ragnarok, and the traitor, because of course, all good stories need one ^^'

But when you look at the facts, you realize this was a huge casting mistake. Loki is a little shit - I'm not saying he's an angel or perfect - but Odin was so much more utilmate evil boss coded. He raped a woman to get her pregnant. COME ON. Loki never did that.
