Patton knocked on his brother's door, boincing on his toes as he hummed. "Lo? You almost ready? I may have gotten a little excited and bought the tickets, but youre coming to the fair with me, right? It has a Halloween section so Virgil is coming too!"

The knock startled Logan out of his trance-like focus, his pen falling to the ground in the brief moment it took to reorient. He closed his textbook and stood to stretch, messing with his shirt collar as he opened the door for his brother.
"You know me Patton, always ready to get dragged into adventures. Just, ah, give me a second to find my tie?"
Patton beamed and gave him a quick hug. "Thank you!! Ok! Ok... let me go get a backpack ready with snacks and water and stuff! Ok? Thank you!" He let go and bolted downstairs.
"Alwasys so energetic!" Logan rolled his eyes, affectionately ruffling Patton's hair before the other raced off. He scanned the room for (and found) his tie, quickly tying it on before making his way down to his brother. "Got everything you need?"
"Mhm! Ready! I think ive got everything! Oooh, thats a nice tie! I think Virgil was coming over to drive over with us. Want me to drive?"
"Of the two of us you are the safest after all." He grinned slightly, picking up the keys off the counter and tossing them to Patton.
At first it bounced off pattons hand but he was able to pop it back up with his knee and catch it. "Ta da!"
"You're such a dork." He rolled his eyes, glancing at the clock. "Did Virgil say when he'd be here?"
"Anytime now! Well actually he said 11:27 but since its 26 now itll be 27 any minute and-oop! There it goes! Now its 27 so-" He was cut off by a knock on the door. He flung the door opened and pulled the figure inside. "Virgil!!"
"Sup, L?" The other offered a small salute to Logan.
Logan chuckled quietly at Patton's keeping of the time, head snapping to look to the door as it opened. He grinned slightly, returning Virgil's greeting with a wave. "Hello, Virgil. You weren't kissing about your timing, huh?"
"I never kid about time. Time is the one thing we can never outrun so its best not to mock it." Virgil nods solemnly.
"Well... i hope time is ready for a good.. well... time!" Patton grins as he pulled the supplies filled backpack on.
"Time is too wobbly for such precise keeping, though. Sure it will far outlast us, but time as we know it is such a convoluted knot of string that trying to track it will only lead it to tangle further." He raised an eyebrow, biting at his lip in an effort to bite back his excitement on the topic. He always has been a nerd, after all.
Virgil smirked, "fair point. But consider, is time worth anything if we dont make the most of it? By tracking it we may maximize it for the small strip of cord our mortal life exists on."
"But why add such miniscule values to it? Why not stop at sunrise and sunset, daylight and darkness?"
"Because thats not the section of cord we were born on. This present existance expects more from us as we stand on the shoulders of the past. Occationally kicking their heads for their ignorance as we climb. Besides, how else could we preform any tasks on nights with no moon? Wed let the dawn sneak on us and ruin the rituals."
"Time ran far before humanity walked this earth, did prior species track the time? Or did they simply accept the rise of the sun and moon as light and dark? Humanity places such heavy values on things, why must we?"
"Because humanity has produces arficial light to strangle darkess. This domination imposes its rule and causes need of other means to track our lives."
"Oh-kay... uhm... wanna continue this in the car?"
Logan blinked for the first time in the conversation, eyes flashing over to Patton in quiet apology before nodding. "Yeah, let's head off. No use in waiting around!"
Patton smiles and leads them to the car before driving over.
"So... have yoy ever been to this fair before?" Virgil wondered.
"I think Patton has once?" Logan glanced over to his brother quickly. "Personally, I haven't. You?"
"Yeah, if was fun last year!" Patton nods.
"Nah man. Im only going cause you are."
"I- really? Am I that interesting to you?" He attempted to play off his confusion with a taunt, shooting a what did you tell this man glance at his twin.
"Yeah!" Virgil smirks just a bit, looking down instead of at Logan.
Patton smiles and sticks his tongue out at his brother.
Logan glances around for a small projectile to chuck at his brother. Finding none, he resigned to staring out the window and trying to fight down the blush threatening to rise.
