“You think? It is fun to decorate the cakes.” She agreed, “I did? Oh, I’m so sorry. I’ve been up for so long that I completely forgot that I did. I can save you some if you want to go back to bed.” 

“No, it’s okay, I’m up already, might as well stay up,” Logan replied. “But I’m serious though. You should open a bakery or something when you graduate. Speaking of, do you know what you’re going to do once you graduate? What about Noah?”

“I was the only one around and I didn’t put the fire out,” Oscar said, his eyes widening at the realisation as he began to speed off. “You coming?”

“Jesus, Oscar,” Logan said as she followed her twin. “What do you expect us to do? Pick up a water fairy on the way? We should probably call someone.”

“You forget I’m a night owl. Midnight to you is the night just getting started for me,” Dante clarified. “Like I said, you’re more than welcome to turn around and go back to the dorms to get your precious beauty sleep. Up to you.”

Logan stuck her tongue out at Dante. “In your dreams, Lamont,” she replied. “I can never say no to an adventure.” 

Jasmine smiled in response to the other trying the sweets, “Do you like them?” Jasmine asked with a tilt of her head. “I just can’t clear my head, you know? Every time I try, another thing pops up. Why are you up?” 

“Oh yes, definitely,” Logan replied. “You should do this for a living.” Logan let out a small laugh. “Jas, you woke me up. I was asleep.”

“I dunno, I thought it was worth asking,” he smirked after her reaction. After being friends for a while he knew it was easy to rile her up about this sort of stuff. “Especially since you seemed so reluctant to be up at this hour,” Dante added with a shrug. “Maybe I should’ve brought Oscar instead.”

Logan glared at Dante, though it quickly dissipated knowing he was only joking, and it was obvious that she was just teasing, though it always annoyed her when people chose her twin over her. “You’re not?” Logan asked. “It is midnight.”

Jasmine pushed forward a plate of one of the cookies towards Logan, “These ones are white chocolate macadamia, and the other ones are peanut butter.” She explained before a sigh, “I can’t sleep for some reason. My mind hasn’t stopped moving all day.” 

“Ooo, those both sound amazing,” Logan said. She took one of the peanut butter cookies and took a bite. “Definitely worth getting up at midnight,” she complimented. “Penny for your thoughts?”

“I hear you can run into some pretty cool creatures if you venture near the forest, so I thought it was about time I went to go see if the stories were true,” Dante shrugged. “Are you going to join me, or are you too scared?”

Logan raised her eyebrows at the other. “Scared? Please,” she scoffed, half jokingly. “I don’t know if you’ve met Oscar, but if I was scared, I wouldn’t drag him out of half the stuff he gets himself into. “Bring it on Dante.”

“Shhhhh,” Maggie said to the other in a whisper, moving a finger to her lips. “We’re on a rescue mission. You see that cat in there?” She said, pointing to the multicoloured feline on the edge of the bed in one of the boys dorms, “Well that cat belongs in my dorm and I need to take it without anyone waking up or knowing I was in the dorm. You can be my look out.”

“Okay?” Logan replies, hesitantly. “Why is the cat in the boys’ dorms anyway? Are you even allowed a cat?”

“You can just sleep later, right? We don’t have classes til after lunch tomorrow,” Thea pointed out. “Okay, so. I think my best friend is seeing someone, and I need you to help me stake out his room so I can find out who it is.”

“You really think whoever it is is going to be there at midnight?” Logan asked, though she was already grabbing her phone to head out. “What makes you think he’s seeing someone?”

“Did you not hear me swear that it wasn’t me? Because that should surely wipe out all the other shit I’ve said that may or may not incriminate me,” Oscar replied. “I can even swear on your life I didn’t do it, and you know I don’t take that lightly.”

“I know, I know,” Logan said, holding her hands up lightly. “Did they put the fire out though, or are we just standing here as some bush on campus is in flames?”

“I swear, it’s going to be worth it!” Jasmine promised, she had been stress baking practically all night, and had been baking two recipes at the same time. With her attention drawn in two different directions she honestly wasn’t sure if it would have turned out well but it absolutely helped her mind. “I thought you might like to try some- it’s mostly chocolate.” 

Logan rubbed her eyes and nodded, “Sure.” Logan took a seat. “Okay, maybe the better question is, why are you baking at midnight?”

“I appreciate you coming to play the hero and making sure I’m okay, but I am- really.” Max commented from where he was currently sat on the ground, skateboard a few feet away from him from where he had came off it. “I’ve had a lot worse, got the scars and stories to prove it but I’m not sure you’ll want to hear them, apparently I can be pretty graphic when describing the oozing.”

“If I can take Oscar’s antics, I think I can manage a story that includes oozing,” Logan replied, she had been eating some yogurt sitting on the bench not to far from where Max was skateboarding. “But that doesn’t mean I want to hear it though, no offense, at least not right when I’m eating some food. Rain check on that story though?” she joked.

“Yeah but did you see me set fire to that bush? No. You didn’t,” Oscar said, shaking his head and tutting. “So yes, I might have fire powers and yes I’m irresponsible and normally I probably would be the type of person to set a bush on fire, but I swear it wasn’t me this time.”

“You know, everything that you just said, literally did not help your case,” Logan told him. “I would hate to be your lawyer if you were ever on trial. Deny, deny, deny, brother.”
