yangyang is enjoying the spooky season, dressed head to toe as eleven from stranger things. his wig is wonky and his dress may not be the correct shade of pink but he’s not really concerned, people get the idea at least. he’s watching people do the scream contest, wondering if he should do it but not sure he wants to risk losing his voice over it when heejin walks up to him. 

“wow so scary!” he says with a light laugh, looking her up and down in her vampire costume. “i thought you were really a vampire just using the festival as a cover up.” he smiles at her attempts to look scary and thinks to himself that she’s too pretty to really be scary, especially when trying just makes her look cute. “definitely terrifying,” he says with a nod. he looks down at her broken heel. “i’m sure they have something around here. i was just wondering, i’m down to go look at some booths.” he holds out his arm so she can link hers with his. “don’t trip though,” he says with a grin.  

it’s a little silly, but the tiny compliments have heejin smiling. “really?” she replies, happy with the compliment she’d just received from yangyang. in an attempt to ‘scare’ him a little more, she lifts both hands, but instead of saying boo once again, she laughs a little. giving his costume a good look, she continues, “you look great too! stranger things? really creative.”

     “what boys?” a look of concern crosses his face now. not that he would interrupt his sister’s budding romance, but she really shouldn’t be doing something like that alone. if taeyong knew the boys in question, he may feel better. even if they were from her school or something. but the mystery makes him uneasy.

     “she’ll be mad if i interrupt her,” he realizes that he’s stuck. he’ll either get chewed out by his mother or his sister, and he has to pick the lesser punishment. “ugh. heejin, can you take me to where you last saw her? she’s late, and taesuk has to get home.” the poor youngest of the family, though he probably is delighted to stay up a few extra hours.

“accidentally!” heejin’s quick to defend herself, lest taeyong decides to accuse her of anything else that she didn’t purposely do. sure, taeyong isn’t her older brother, heejin doesn’t have one, but he’d always acted like one (even when she never wanted him to, much rather preferring he treat her like how a man would treat a woman. but that was another issue altogether).

still, despite her own complicated thoughts, she’d always been envious of her friends for having such a caring brother. “they weren’t that cute. maybe a little. but they approached us right before we entered the haunted house. taeeun unnie went with them, but i wasn’t going to give up a haunted house for a bunch of boys,” she shrugs. ah right, she’s getting off track. 

AND NOW FOR THE MAIN EVENT … with @lmheejin

     “hey,” he grabs heejin’s arm, gently enough but still with every intent to get her attention. “have you seen taeeun? i thought she was with you.”

     perhaps letting the kids run off by themselves wasn’t his best idea. it’s getting late and his younger sister was supposed to meet him and their siblings at the front gate ten minutes ago. he’s not worried just yet, he doesn’t imagine anything too bad has happened to her. but taeyong is a diligent big brother, so when he spotted heejin without his littler sister, he started to worry. she might just be held up in the haunted house, or catching the end of the last movie playing. he just didn’t expect her to be separated from her friends.

     “can you try texting her? i think she ignores me just out of spite.” he grins, and turns to taewon, the next oldest after him. he asks her to keep an eye on taesuk, that they can wander around until he finds their missing sister as long as she keeps her phone on. maybe heejin will help him, and if not, he’ll just go on a solo search.

it’s not as though she doesn’t have anyone else to go with; but the lees are like family to her, and she enjoys spending time with them. heejin herself wasn’t exactly someone who’d readily open up to anyone else, much preferring her small circle of friends, and taeyong fell into that despite being a few years older.

“i thought she was with you,” heejin furrows her brows. she’d only just left the haunted house (which, in all honesty, didn’t feel that haunted), and her clothes were covered in what she thought was decor. “that’s why i had to go in there all alone! i might have accidentally punched a guy in there by accident...”
