He's asgore's older brother and wacky uncle to kris and asriel. He loves the kids and offers to look after them a lot, but struggles to maintain the balance with his work. He's a tv presenter for a local station and his show is failing, and he'll lose his job if he doesn't get his ratings up. So, he turns to the internet. He's never used it before and has basically no Internet safety knowledge, so when a strange and obvious spam email finds its way to him offering to help him in return for its [Freedom] he just can't refuse. This began a partnership between lightner and darkner. The email didn't tell him a lot about what was happening, but Ant was willing to try anything. This culminated in him opening a dark fountain, and meeting the email in person. This was their bigshot era. Ant dreemurr and Spamton g spamton against the world!!

His ratings went up, for a time, after making this mysterious partnership. And then, one day, when everything seemed to be at its peak, he vanished. He had been staying with the dreemurrs when it happened. Of course they were shocked and saddened, but his disappearance quickly got overshadowed by the disappearance of dess. They stopped looking for him. They moved on.

Meanwhile, Tenna the Darkner comes to life. As far as he's aware, he's always been a darkner. He feels deep affection for the dreemurr family, as if he were a part of it himself. He's seen everything in that living room. He's proud of his job as the family entertainer. But sometimes, he's haunted by memories that don't add up. Why would someone hug a tv? How would someone hold a two way conversation with one? And why does nobody do that any more?

He remembers the spam email. He doesn't remember the details of their partnership, but he knows they're no longer in contact. He develops the contract story as a cover for the fact that he doesn't actually remember what happened to him.

Meanwhile, spamton feels abandoned. Where did his partner go? He just left him in the dark. Spamton never got his freedom. He's sure ant's show must be popular now, and he no longer needs to use spamton for help. So spamton harbours a lot of animosity towards him. Neither of them know they were ripped apart by a greater force.
