Many Discord servers describe themselves as welcoming, respectful, and nonjudgmental communities. The term nonjudgmental generally means approaching people with empathy and understanding rather than making assumptions or condemning them based on personal preferences, beliefs, or associations.

Unfortunately, within parts of the Sims 4 Equine community, I have seen situations where people are removed or excluded because of their CC preferences, the creators they support, or their membership in other servers. When this happens, it can feel inconsistent with the values of openness and nonjudgment that some communities promote.

Every server has the right to establish its own rules and decide how it is moderated. At the same time, it's important for communities to be transparent about their expectations and to treat members fairly and respectfully.

Because of these differences in moderation styles, I encourage people to explore communities carefully and find spaces that align with their values.

In our server, we strive to follow principles of respect, inclusion, and nonjudgment. We welcome people regardless of their CC preferences, creator preferences, or affiliations with other servers. Our focus is on creating an environment where members feel safe, accepted, and valued.

Disagreements and differing opinions will always exist, but we believe communities are strongest when people are treated with kindness and respect.

What makes someone wake up in the morning and decide to be hateful and hurtful to someone they do not know about something they know nothing about?

A lot of the time, it has less to do with the person being targeted and more to do with what’s happening inside the person doing the hurting.

People can become hateful or cruel for different reasons:

Insecurity or unhappiness they project outward.

Wanting power, attention, or control.

Fear of things they don’t understand.

Learned behavior from family, peers, or online spaces.

Jealousy, resentment, or bitterness.

Emotional immaturity and lack of empathy.

The distance/anonymity of the internet making consequences feel unreal.

Some people also build entire narratives about strangers from a tiny amount of information. Once they decide they “know” someone, they stop seeing them as a full human being and start reacting to an idea, stereotype, or assumption instead.

That still doesn’t make the behavior acceptable.

One difficult truth is that healthy, fulfilled people usually do not wake up looking for strangers to tear down. Constant hostility often reflects unresolved anger, loneliness, frustration, or a need to feel superior for a moment.

And sometimes there isn’t a deep reason that makes it satisfying or logical. Some people simply haven’t developed the self-awareness or compassion to stop themselves from causing harm.

If this question comes from something someone said or did to you recently, it’s worth remembering: a stranger’s cruelty is not reliable evidence about your worth or reality. Often it tells you far more about their emotional state and character than it does about you.

PS: If you reply in regards to this in a hateful manner, then you are one of these people described above.

The Pied Piper effect describes a phenomenon where a charismatic, influential leader attracts a loyal following of people who will unquestioningly adopt their ideas, follow their directions, or mimic their actions, often leading the group blindly or into risky situations. It astounds me how many people do not have their own thoughts and ability to make their own decisions about situations. They just follow along with the rest of them. There are definitely more followers than leaders which is scary. That just means there are more weak-minded people than strong independent people.

Everyone has opinions and this is freedom of speech; however, if your opinions are hurtful, hateful and cruel, try practicing the old adage................."If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all." This not only saves the person you are being hateful toward, but it also saves you from being viewed in a "bad light" or having a "bad character."

Before making judgements on someone you do not know, look at yourself first. No one is perfect and everyone makes mistakes in life, and you are no exception to that rule.
