"Girl So In Love" Isn't the Best Olivia Record, But the One I Won't Skip Any Songs On
I love Olivia as an artist, but I felt like Guts and Sour both had too much sad piano music with not much interesting production wise. Kinda boring to sit through all my emotions with just piano. Girl So In Love uses synths and guitars to keep things fun even if the songs actually make you want to cry. I love a good Liz Phair, Garbage, Veruca Salt album, and this is absolutely that at times. Hell, this even feels Hall and Oates inspired with the synths.
I love "My Way" and "Expectations." "What's Wrong With Me" is so amazing. "Purple" could have been a boring (in my opinion) piano ballad or guitar song, but it's not. If it was on Guts or Sour, I think it would've been.
My main critique is the lack of specificity in the lyrics, but that's not something I expect someone fresh off a breakup to want to get into.
I also feel like the production on her vocals is a bit much on songs like "maggots for brains" but I understand the stylistic choice that she's making.
Guts and Sour have better songs at their peak in terms of songwriting and memorability. "Pretty Isn't Pretty" is a song that would fit onto this record and probably be the best song. Still, this album has no duds.
Added tons of songs to my Shauna Shipman playlists. 8.2/10
S14's Reheated Destiel Nachos Don't Compare (and make the original moments more queer).
I love how they try to reheat so many Destiel nachos like Bert and Ernie, Thelma and Louise (with Dean referring to him and Sam), and even the whole like Dean almost kills Cas but can't thing with Sam and Cas, and it still doesn't feel romantic. Half because W***est is nasty and I can never see it in a romantic way, but also because of the context. Which makes it even more queer, because Dean knows how to say stuff in a brotherly way, and yet doesn't.
Dean says that Bert and Ernie are gay before mentioning them to Cas. He asks if Cas wants them to hold hands and sail off a cliff like Thelma and Louise when comparing them. Dean brings up the potential romantic nature of these relationships when comparing them to him and Cas, but not when he compares him and Sam to them. Hell, he doesn't seem to be into the comparisons with Sam and more using them to mock Sam. He asks Sam if he wants to dress up as Thelma and Louise in a joke-y way. Obviously I don't ship Sam and Dean, but even if they were not brothers, these scenes are not flirty in the slightest.
And I mean, the Cas is about to get stabbed by a Winchester but doesn't scenes are crazy different. Cas is way more focused on in the Sam scene, while in the Dean scene it is like a 50/50 split between them. Sam is overcoming a spell and overcomes it because he doesn't want to fail any of the people who he should be fighting for, especially Dean. Cas focuses on Sams own emotions and motivations to stop him from killing him. Not their relationship.
Dean overcomes almost killing Cas because Cas says please.
It is clear that one scene is mad romantic and the other... is not. Sam doesn't overcome the spell because of Cas. These are not parallels that reveal the similar nature of these characters relationships, but that they are two different ones.
So yeah. Season 14 reheats a ton of Destiel nachos. Not sure if its to fight those queerbaiting allegations by showing that "this does not have to be romantic" because its in the context of brothers (which is fucked up because you made obvious queer subtext taboo in far retrospect), or because the writers are just lazy. But the funniest part is that it doesnt work.
Dean knows how to make these references in a straight dude bro joke-y way and didn't with Cas. That makes it even more queer in retrospect lol. The show knows how to make platonic moments even when its like a character breaking another character out of a curse (romantic trope). They just chose to make Dean and Cas be far more tropey and obviously romantic, with camerawork and also dialouge.
Supernatural's queer subtext is just so strong that I don't care what is officially canon or not. This is hardly interpretations anymore.
Take any random MOTW episode from Supernatural that has at least a 7.8/10 on IMDB and you have the premise for a major motion picture.
(Looking at you Wishful Thinking and Peace of Mind).
kathryn newton shouldâve played apocalypse world cas. it wouldâve been horrifying and she wouldâve nailed it and she wouldnât have done that accent

Sam + Cas Framing in 14x15 vs Destiel Framing
I love how like different Dean and Cas are framed compared to Sam and Cas. Like in the car shots, Cas and Sam never have each other's shoulders in the same shot. No like side of the face. Nope. They're in the edge of the frame and the shots are unbalanced, but they still don't have as many shots that they are together in. We have shots where Cas is on the far right, and then a shot where Sam is on the far left, but not a shot in the middle with both of them in the car.
Even when they are close, there isn't tension. We see them being close when sitting next to each other from afar, but never in tight and intimate shots. When Cas' shoulders are in the frame of Sam's shots, or vice versa, there is still a lot of physical distance between them, and the shots are framed from below them by a lot.
Destiel is subtext, yes, but there is so much stuff that adds to it.
Like look at that distance and how this is shot. They're not on the same level...
Even in the like XXX brother is about to kill Cas by stabbing him on the ground but stabs something else, the ratio of time spent on Sam's face compared to Cas' is so much more in favor of Cas' face compared to the MOC scene in season 10.
(10/10 episode btw). I love how Cas literally told Dean about Sam wearing a cardigan before the episode even ended probably in a call.
14x14 Spn First Watch
Okay that all was so like bi dean and Destiel affirming to me lol.
Dean and Cas were so married in this episode, had another one of their dates (which happen only when one person is like suicidal), the whole AV club thing was adorable, and they were like paralleled to Samwena who like fake dated or whatever. It just feels like the framing of them is so similar to couples or like potential couples.
The gorgon also like targeted Dean specifically, even more than Cas, and only goes after like queer people seemingly in the episode. Like he was specifically after him. I know sometimes people read way too much into stuff, but like, come on. I know this show queerbaited with Dean's sexuality, but like its so obvious to me that I dont need confirmation from the shows creators and actors.
It is cool to see Michael actually be a threat for once... Jack is so overpowered for stopping him lmao.
The Issue With S5 of The Boys is the Lack of Criticism of Anything Bigger Than Homelander
The biggest issue with season 5 of The Boys is that it didn't have anything to criticize really except Homelander and his egotiscial nature.
It doesn't critique superhero media like seasons 1-2, or politics like 3-4 (season 4 was miles better and way underrated), and doesn't critique Vought nearly as much as it should. That's why it feels like it became what it was making fun of. The surface level critiques of politics are so surface level, and really there to drive home the Trump comparisons. The world building suffers so much because of this.
It makes it seem like killing Homelander (who started out as a victim of Vought) is the end of all the characters struggles. Even a single shot at the end showing Vought Tower with like idk villain music, and Stan Edgar as the like last man standing would be so good.
Edgar is a horrible person, he is why Homelander was so evil, or at least a large part of why he became that way, and yet, he gets off pretty easy, and gets to come off as a cool guy. The convo between him and MM was great, and that should have been explored more. That's the biggest thing that was missing, besides Homelander going actually crazy ofc. And having the SB and Homelander dynamic be why he actually gives Homelander the V1 not St****nt.
By not doing a commentary on anything, they made a fine but inoffensive finale. Homelander could go scorched earth or whatever and get taken care of, but Vought is still there. That would be a great way to end the show.
Dr. Who on AMC+ only has the like 14th episode of each season, except for Season 13, which has 7-14, I guess bc they just added it? I just wanna watch Rose Tyler after that crazy Knicks game.
yeah deancas is cool but you know what else is cool? they gave dean a best friend. dean who never stayed in a school long enough to bond with other boys. he never had inside jokes or slept over at his friendâs house. always an outsider, loner. john even suggested staying away from others in their line of work because no one survives. so they gave him a best friend whoâs immortal and who lives with him. someone to have movie nights with and to laugh harder than he has in a while with.

I know that like the people involved said that Nikki might have liked Bear, but to me it was so obvious when I watched it that she was sick of him making it all awkward and shit and wanted to clear the air before she left the job.
Like I'm sorry, but you can't convince me that she liked Bear. Even the like mention of nobody knowing when she likes someone could be easily written off as like making Bear more comfortable to express his feelings. She wasn't disappointed that he said no because she wanted to date him. She looked more uncomfortable after its clear to her that he likes her.
i wish victor had lived longer and usually when i say this iâm talking 2-3 more seasons. however i do think it wouldâve been really funny if he lived to meet jack. because okay imagine- victor is trailing the winchester brothers as he has for YEARS and one day they just pop up with a very young man and where the fuck did he come from? and the missing jimmy novak is also there and calling him his son? victor KNOWS the novak family. what is going on? there is NO way victor missed any of these men having a kid. so that means they kidnapped this boy potentially when he was still a minor. my guy victor wouldâve actually gone insane.
imagine at some point he does actually manage to corner jack and asks him about the winchesters and jack is like âoh donât worry! we are family! my mother trusted them with me :)!â and shows victor a picture of the missing secretary of the US president
the victor-winchester dynamic in sam and deanâs pov:

Rewatched 7x04 of 9-1-1, and I don't think Buck realizes how flirty he is with Eddie 24/7, which is why Tommy like thinks that he's flirting lol...
Just watched 14x08 of spn for the first time and this is actually so sad... I was avoiding it for like a week bc I knew what was going to happen. But man. Also Kelly Kline has got to be one of the most over hated Supernatural characters of all time. WTF did she do wrong.
i love how, canonically, the relationship between buck and eddie isnât just âbest friendsâ but âthis thing between usâ and âwhat eddie and i haveâ

Some terrible shot selection here lmaoo.
I'm on 14x08 of my first rewatch of Supernatural, and I really don't wanna keep going. Like I know how this is going to end... It feels like Cas is hardly a character right now, and he's still going to break my heart.
