A cough leaves their chapped lips, their hands shaking as they fight with the cap of the medicine bottle. The white haired elf rushes to the bedside, grabbing the bottle, gently, from their bruised hands.
“Astarion.” They reach out, placing a hand on his cheek as he leans in.
“My sweet.” He is pained to look at them in this condition, but he does not see them any less beautiful than the day the first met.
“I-“ They sputter, their white hair falling in front of their eyes as they seemingly choke on the words “I think, my time is here.”
His eyes water at the words, rage building up in his unbeating heart. His eyes lock on theirs, looking for a hint of mockery, this has to be a cruel joke, right?
He brushes their thinned hair behind their ear “In that case, you owe me one last thing.”
They chuckle softly, broken up occasionally by a cough “What is it?”
Without further word he hooks an arm around them, helping them to stand as he guides them to the glass balcony door. His hand grips the handle, swinging it open as he keeps their body against his.
By the guidance of the everfading moonlight, he rests them upon the stone bench, settling in beside them.
Their eyes meet before one can say a word, full of love unbroken and sorrow unfathomable.
Their head falls to his shoulder “I don’t think I’d of made it this far without you” They ponder “With or without the tadpole.”
He’s never been one to show emotions easily, but he can feel his eyes begin to swell and his chicks bleed from his teeth clenching the sides.
“If I had never met you,” he clears his throat to cover the cracks in his voice “I would never of known what a beautiful feeling it is to be loved.”
His hands wrap around theirs, laying inbetween the two laps.
“I love you, Astarion.” They whisper.
“I love you more, my sunlight.” He kisses their head, as tears begin to roll down his pinkened cheeks, the sun beginning to peak over the horizon.
He feels the warmth begin to leave their body, but his has begun to fill with the burning of 200 years of loneliness.
He looks up at the sun, then down at the face of his love, one last time.
With the soft sweep of wind, the ash like dust pulls away from his body. From the earth he was reborn as a wretched beast, and to the earth he will return, a hero.

Your Lae’zel writing is super sweet, and I think your own to something there.
Lae’zel is probably one of my favorite characters, sure she starts off as brash, rude, angry/ whatever else.
But I mean at her heart, she is a young adult (devs said she’s like 21) in a land that is hostile to her kind (with good reason) who just went through a living nightmare, and lived through the worse case scenario. Only to wake up in a strange land that she knows nothing about. She’s been told her people are the greatest, the best warriors, etc her entire life, but this is the first time she has been by herself really, isolated, away from her people. No wonder she doubles down on the gith supremacy at first, because that all she’s certain of at that moment. That uncertainty In her is what leads her to follow tav, any older gith would have left for the crèche themselves, why tie their fate to a lesser beings after all. I read somewhere that Lae’zel hadn’t even completed the gith adult right of passage yet, and that completely tracks.
Throughout the game, Tav can influence her,l by the way they lead, because Lae’zel is following their lead. You can influence her to see beyond her upbringing, or tell her to hold fast to that. Depending on what you do, depends what sides you bring out.
At the end of the day, Lae’zel is a young women, isolated from everything she’s familiar with, scared for her life, lost in the unknown and has no idea how to navigate the world she’s found herself in. Then (spoilers) she has every rug ripped out from under her. She deserves a little softness honeslty

Like she's in a place she's unfamiliar with, without the guidance of her people or her queen and was just infected with the worst possible death someone in her culture can possibly receive and is still trying to get you to the creche to save you, to do right by you as a thanks for saving her.
She deserves even a moment of gentle love, because she was never taught how to love or be loved in a way that isn't harsh and forceful.
Not to mention her romance is so cute from what I've seen of it i'm working on romancing her for another playthrough and i swear i will spoil her rotten!!
