“I’m sorry if this is out of line but, are you Vincent Whitman?” You asked him, eyes filled with hope and excitement.

Vox wanted to be mad, normally he would be, talking about his past wasn’t something he liked to do with strangers, but there was something about you that made him curious. It was rare that someone was able to figure out who he was, and the fact that you did it almost immediately sent a shiver through his body.

Were you one of his past followers? Someone who became fascinated with his legacy later on?

His silence must have given the wrong impression because you suddenly blushed and began stumbling over your words for an explanation, “I’m sorry it’s just, you were the one who originally came up with Shark Week! Tom Golden completely stole your idea and the discovery channel has done everything to erase your past involvement with the concept, which is bullshit. Yeah you might of done some bad things, but covering up the fact that you created something as brilliant as Shark Week is absurd!”

Vox blinked, his digital mouth parting in disbelief as he processed your words.

You were a fan of him… for creating Shark Week?

“I’m just a really big fan of Sharks so I genuinely can’t thank you enough for making Shark Week! Like I said it’s completely brilliant! and you deserve all the credit!” You gushed, smiling with such genuine admiration.

Something warm and almost giddy filled his chest, and before he could stop himself Vox smiled and said excitedly, “It was brilliant wasn’t it!”

Maybe he’s finally found someone who can appreciate the aquatic beauties just as much as him.

It is honestly revolutionary to have a shonen protag's final form be enjoyable for them. To not be something born out of anger or hate; a thing born out of strict necessity that has to be unlocked by painful emotions/the loss of someone they loved (temporary or otherwise) but rather born out of joy and a desire for freedom. To have them want to be in that final form, to have it spit in the face of the idea that the only way to be powerful is to be serious, edgy, ""mature"" and to abandon joy and happiness in favor of that.

I LOVE that Luffy's final power-up doesn't come at the cost of who he is as a person, and instead amplifies and uplifts who he is. It uplifts his carefree nature, his goofiness, his creativity, his sense of wonder. And as such, the form is something that he enjoys more than any other gear he has used. It allows him to be the freest version of himself, allows him to bend the world around him to his whims, of course he's going to love it.

It also (in a weird way) acts as a message of self love. Luffy does not have to abandon who he is to become stronger, but rather has to lean even further into who he is. The traits that make him 'weird' and 'strange' by pirate (or hell, even just by regular standards) are the very things that boost him up and allow him to win against his foes.

I probably should have started doing this forever ago but I wasn’t sure how long I was gonna stick with drawing these comics. But I guess we’re in it now! This will be continually updated~ EVERYTHING UNDER THE CUT
