Anyways since I have an obsession with the symbiote, did you ever elaborate on how Peter gets the symbiote, or for that matter, gets it off?

I don't think I ever talked much about it, but I had planned to do a written story showing how he acquires the Symbiote.

Sometime after Norman Osborn's death, Peter breaks into Stark Tower looking for something that could bring him back. He gets discovered by Tony while doing so, and they have a brief tête-à-tête, wherein Tony asks him if he would consider joining the Avengers, and because of where's at, Peter turns him down. Peter doesn't find what he's looking for, but he manages to steal an 'unknown substance' as a consolation prize, which ends up being the Symbiote.

I never finished writing it unfortunately, though maybe I'll try to at some point - I did like some of the mirroring of Tony and Norman in it, and the foreshadowing for the Black Suit.
