    “I’m faster than a speeding bullet too. Or so I’ve been told.”

“Well– either way, I apologize.” His lips pursed, eye contact breaking for just a moment. He needed to do this, though. He needed to face this.

“Yes–of course. Miguel.” He hesitates for a moment before taking his hand, still unsure as to what this exchange will bring. Who will bring up the inevitable first.

What a pleasure it would be to let lightning rip through the Hulk’s veins as their hands met. Let his blood boil. But he wasn’t the Hulk. And Miguel was no longer that person. That impulsive teenager who believed his father was right. 

    But just because you’re wrong doesn’t mean you have to die.

“I missed that humility. And thank you, I’ve been trying.” He rubbed the back of his neck. He didn’t speak Portuguese, but he could assume what Roberto was saying based on similarity between words.

“well hey, we can’t all get janet van dyne originals. it’s better than some of the stuff i put myself in. did you see my first costume?”

“bobby.” a beat. he unfreezes, ice slowly cracking off his body. it’s a lot more personable than the ice form. “nice costume, man.”

Alright. Say something cool. This is just a first impression. No big deal. First meeting, it’s cool. You’re both super heroes!

“I am not the same as the god I once was.” For starters it had only been a matter of weeks since he traded his axe for a hammer of some description again, and at that he had to settle for imitations, given the original’s destruction.      “Perhaps it would be best if you seek the aid of another to help you resolve your issue.”

“Well, you got a beard and a new outfit, that’s for sure.” Miguel should probably get a new outfit. Everyone is nowadays, he feels a little left behind. Especially with these shoulder pads. It was true, though, Miguel hadn’t seen Thor in quite some time. Or, at least this Thor. 

     “… Uh. Nope.”

She hovers a little off the ground.

“–Mr. Santos.” He swallows, keeping eye contact a struggle he intends to win. “It’s–good to see you too, under better circumstances. I– apologize for our last meeting.”

“It wasn’t your fault.”

    It never is.

     “Is New Mexico nice? I’ve only ever flown over it.”

“Guess it’s better than the old one, ‘cause they had to make a new model, right?”

Once Brian was sure the build up had returned to usual levels, he reached over to take the flask back. “Not in the slightest. Been going on for near enough seventy-five years. It’s a long story, involves Stalin, Thor and Namor but basically Thor went hammer first, brain second. Would’ve preferred the other hammer if I’m honest.” Sipping some tea, arguably just for the effect.
