“You wish,” Liv teased. “I’m not sure who you’re dressed up as though.”

“fuck yeah go for it.” he replied, opening the packet towards the other. “i know the struggles.” lucas admitted, offering the other a quick nod. “it’s a tough day when theres no one around to share.”

Liv took one, lighting it with her lighter. “It really is. Didn’t expect to see another fairy smoking.”

“Holy shit, let me help,” Miles said, running toward the pond to try and grab some of the papers and immediately leaned over too far and fell into thee pond. He flailed for a moment and spluttered before standing up. He managed to grab a few papers and held them out. He stared for a moment and then started laughing, “Can’t be any worse than this, right?” He joked.

Olivia burst out into laughter with Miles, holding her stomach as she laughed hard. She suddenly realized that she couldn’t remember the last time she had laughed this hard. “Are you okay?” she finally asked when she caught her breath. She took the papers. “We should get you a towel.”

“Olivia,” he spoke quietly as he walked up on her. “I see you aren’t trying to hide the smoking anymore.” He’d been keeping tabs on the younger fae from afar since her brother’s death. Things have been weird for a long time between the two since Miles was sent away and Noah basically exiled from the family. Plus he sort of blamed himself for Reed. He should’ve done a better job at protecting him. “I know we’ve been avoiding each other… Maybe it’s time we’ve talked?”

“Oops, you caught me,” she said sarcastically. Liv took another drag. “I wouldn’t say I’ve been avoiding you, at least not actively.” Liv had been avoiding most, especially since coming back after leaving when Reed died. She turned more toward him. “Okay, you have my attention, talk about what?”

“I just want life to get back to normal, you know what I mean?” she said to her friend as they walked. “I want all of this stuff that’s happened to just stop. I know it doesn’t really work that way, but it really sucks.”

Since Miles was sent away, Noah was turned, and Reed died, Liv had been pretty distant from Theo, despite him being their clan leader. their families had grown up together and there was so much history there that Liv wasn’t sure how to look at now that so much time had passed. Liv had picked up a smoking habit since the death of her older brother, and she usually kept well hidden until recently. She didn’t really care that much anymore, especially with the murders still happening. She wasn’t sure if a part of her blamed the Greenwood’s for not protecting her brother, or if it was just a way not to feel it all. Olivia turned when she heard a noise behind her, “Theo... I didn’t expect to see you here.”

“No, no, no, no,” Liv said, chasing the papers that had flown away and landed in the pond. “Of course, just my luck.” Liv sat on the ground at the shore, her eyes teary. Things just needed to slow down and they weren’t. Liv looked up when she heard someone. She wiped her tears. “Miles, hey, sorry, I must seem like a total crybaby.”

raising the cigarette to his lips he took a long drag, his gaze drifting around the almost empty park. catching the eye of the other he offered them a short nod. “not bad weather.” the brunette admitted, offering them a short smile. he took the final drag of the cigarette before stomping it out underneath his foot. “i know what you’re thinking - those kill, and you’d be right.” a short laugh left lucas’ lips. “well heres hoping.”

“Yeah, yeah, you know I don’t really care,” Liv replied. “I ran out of my pack, care if I bum one off of ya?” She took a seat next to him, crossing her legs. 

Olivia needed to get out of here. She thought of just bolting. She was panicking. This was too close to Reed, this felt like a heavy burden to hold. She couldn’t deal with this. She wanted to be home with Aries and pretend this wasn’t happening. She neared the door, but felt a tug on her arm as she was at it. She turned. “Noah, let me go, I can’t be here,” she insisted, though in the back of her head she knew she’d just be stopped at the exit anyway.

Liv took a seat next to Aries after figuring she was actually stuck here. “I just want to go home,” she said. “We have tea at home, and the cat must be so scared right now.”

Noah couldn’t help but love being out in nature, even after what had happened to him. He took the same route that he would normally take. He knew this area as well as he knew himself. He’d been brought up here which was why he knew when there was something different. “Liv?” They’d not talked recently but that didn’t mean anything to Noah. Upon seeing the puffy redness of the girls eyes, his face folded in concern and he immediately stepped forward, instinctively pulling her into a hug. “What’s wrong? What happened? Are you alright?”

Liv let herself relax into Noah’s hug, almost as if they had done it yesterday. It was nice, it had been a while since they were close like this. “I’m fine I just,” Liv paused, sniffling. “It’s stupid...”

“Liv!” Quinn said, waving their friend down from the distance, “Come on, join me for a game of pool. I am in dire need of a new partner because I have been abandoned. You can play, right?”

“Sure I can play, but I’m not too sure if I’m very good,” Liv commented.

Liv was crying, why was she crying? She wasn’t entirely sure on that part. She just remembers getting hit with an intense amount of emotion and couldn’t hold it in. Maybe she needed to cry for a while. She was seated at the foot of a tree, and jumped slightly when she heard a tree branch snap behind her. She turned, quickly wiping her tears. She took a breath before speaking, noticing it was Noah. “Hey,” she greeted. “What’s up?”

If Liv had been honest, she would admit that she was shruggling, triggered by the attack on Emilia and Erik, especially when it had happened around the year anniversary of her own brother’s murder. She thought she had left all that pain behind when she went traveling to escape Northknot. She hadn’t been paying attention when Quinn spoke, snapping out of her thoughts. “Sorry, what did you say?”

Olivia’s love language was giving. Whenever she had the chance to give, she did. That’s why she was standing on the doorstep of Miles’ house, plate of cookies in hand. She smiled when he opened the door. “Hey, uh, I didn’t know where Emilia lived, and I figured you’d see her, obviously. I made cookies for her. That, and I wanted to check on you.”
