Reblogging in honor of Marjane Satrapi, one of THE great graphic novelists. Her comic Persepolis was a crucial text for shaping my belief that comics can deeply explore identity, culture, politics, and history.

I might get flamed for this, but I strongly dislike Jax being transfem specifically because Jax is a lot of TERF talking points wrapped up into one big purple bunny bow I'm not saying trans characters can't be antagonists or have negative qualities, but I can't be the only one who has a bad taste in their mouth from the sheer amount of harmful stereotypes jam-packed into one character (especially considering Jax sexually harasses Gangle...like THAT'S who you want representing the community???) People praising and licking the scraps of this-frankly quite awful-rep just absolutely boggles my mind And I know someone would be like "Well Goose is trans so that nullifies the problems you have" but like....it doesn't, bro I think this is just a very obvious lesson that just because you're apart of a minority does not mean you can throw caution to the wind when representing said minority Especially in this political climate where bigotry against trans people is skyrocketing, the last thing needed is sloppy rep that reinforces harmful stereotypes

Thinking about TADC critically and all my hairs start to fall off my scalp and my teeth spontaneously shatter. I cannot stress enough I need to properly rewatch the series and take notes so I can hate properly

i think its fine to have limited tastes in media if you understand your limitations. like i wont shame someone if they only watch cartoons because thats their choice but i also dont think you can go making hot takes about the horror genre if the scariest thing youve watched this decade was the owl house finale. that seems ill advised.
