back to my usual phoenixposting soon i just have to
complain. alot
call me terminally academia-brained but i do think a lot of the fun of character analysis is figuring out how to build a compelling argument for a particular reading using lines of evidence from canon as well as meta/intertextual support
and you could say that what iām saying here is basically āa lot of the fun of doing character analysis is doing character analysisā but letās be real a lot of fandom character analysis is pretty heavily vibes-based. and i think thatās where i really chafe up against the traditional thought-terminating fandom attitude of like, everyoneās opinions hold equal weight and any interrogation of that is inherently hostile. because i think itās fascinating to dig into where others are coming from in terms of their views on characters or dynamics or whatever, especially when they differ significantly from more commonly expressed views, and part of that digging is asking people okay what parts of canon are you drawing from to support your opinion? what parts of canon are you disregarding or downplaying? how does this argument hold up in the light of how race, gender, class, ability, etc. operate both in the pieceās in-fiction and real world contexts?
I was going to post this tomorrow, because it has been a long day, but after watching yet another meltdown on another website that could have been avoided, I feel the need to bestrow the one piece of advice you need to function online.
You need to fucking block people.
I mean it. Shithead in your comments? Block them. Someone with an annoying fandom opinion? Block them. Guy cluttering up the tags with a weird crossover idea? Block all of them.
Anti-block culture is a fucking conspiracy designed to make you a target of harassment. Block people for any reason whatsoever. If you're worried about hurting someone's feelings, you can always unblock them later. Mute posts if you can't bring yourself to block someone, but you must be willing and able to disengage from bullshit that threatens to suck you in.
No one is entitled to see your shit. Turn those privacy settings and trim your feeds of constant annoyances. It's not about them, it's about your comfort. You've gotta make your online spaces a place you want to be in, and blocking people will help.
Also if random people follow you just to creep into your dm box and you feel uncomfortable you can block them.
You can even block people who are otherwise fine, you just find them annoying. You can block people whose blog theme is obnoxious. Or if they have the same name as an abuser you arent ready to heal from yet. Or if they dont tag an obscure trigger and you dont feel like asking them to. Or if their pfp is an anime character you don't vibe with.
You can block anyone you want. Take my hand. You can block them for ANY REASON. Anything is a good enough reason. If you don't curate your space it'll never be curated.
Also in my experience people dont even notice or care that they're blocked anyway.
The thing about how you will talk like a tumblr user for the rest of your life is that usually people wonāt clock it but sometimes youāll meet someone and youāll actually be able to see a look of painful recognition in their eyes when you say some tumblypoo bullshit while everyone else just thinks you had an epic original thought. And itās gonna make you a little bit sorry you were born
I had a dream about Columbo at a drag show. This is what came from it.
I'm waiting for him to explain to me how his newfound love of drag allowed him to prove I killed my business partner

sometimes i'm reminded that people actually still get genuinely invested in top/bottom discourse in the big 2026
when you read fanfic do you have a strong preference for tops/bottoms/switches?
yes and i won't read anything outside of my preferences
yes but i'll read outside of my preferences depending
no i dgaf
huh thereās a new movie coming out about a male sex-worker becoming pregnant i wonder if everyoneās going to be extremely normal about thiā
āLMAO MPREG?? MPREG IN REAL LIFE THATS SO WEEIIRRRDD!!! omg the guy from heartstopper is in an mpreg movie?? thatās hilarious what the fuck!!!!ā
The thing is, I havenāt looked into this movie much but āmale sex worker who becomes pregnant with a terrifying creatureā couldāve been a fantastic case of body horror focused on a transmasculine perspective but considering both the responses Iāve seen and the fact that the MC is going to be played by a cis man I have zero hope that trans men are going to be allowed any space in this conversation but whatever I guess. Fucking whatever. Another year of leftists forgetting that mpreg isnāt just an ao3 kink and is in fact a very real and potentially life-threatening experience for trans people.
Itās not āthe most unhinged pitch possibleā if you remember that transmasc sex workers exist.
Transmasc sex workers exist.
Trans men exist. Trans men. The men who are trans. The men who can and do get pregnant. Transgender. Transgender men. Not to mention intersex men, but I doubt thatās ever crossed these peopleās minds even once.
Iām going to kill someone.
if anyone wants to support transmasc sex workers & learn more about the experiences of transmasc sex workers, you can go buy Jack Parker's transmasc sex worker anthology:
A paperback copy of Working Guys: A Transmasculine Sex Worker Anthology. Working Guys: A Transmasculine Sex Worker Anthology is a collection
A PDF copy of Working Guys: A Transmasculine Sex Worker Anthology. Working Guys: A Transmasculine Sex Worker Anthology is a collection of es
(Parker also has two other books, Transactional Intercourse which is an anthology of trans & intersex sex work experiences, and Hooker Mentality which looks at "what hookers' experiences reveal about capitalism and gender and policing," both available as paperbacks and PDFs)
& keep being LOUD AS FUCK about including trans & intersex men (& nonbinary people/enben) in discussions of pregnancy & all related topics!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i enjoy their dynamic quite a bit
sleep tight

Apollo and Klavier's relationship morbidly fascinates me in how... artificial and engineered it feels.
You've got Klavier's infamous "I must say I'm used to being inspected by the ladies⦠but this is the first time I've felt this way with a man." and Apollo occasionally calls him "cool" or "dazzling" to create the illusion of budding homoeroticism between those two but it's glaringly obvious that they never do anything of substance for each other.
Phoenix became an attorney in huge part due to Edgeworth, facilitated his development and then saved him from conviction, to which Edgeworth repaid the favor by helping him in 2-4 and 3-5; Apollo calls Klavier's instability when confronted with Kristoph in 4-4 a "weakness" that he can use to his advantage and the most Klavier does for him is to invite him to his concert in 4-3. Ryuu is beside himself with worry after he hears that Barok was attacked and then demolishes an international conspiracy to save him from conviction as well; Apollo doesn't even express the slightest bit of concern for Klavier when he sees his guitar explode in his hands on-stage.
In fact he spends so much time making potshots at literally everything Klavier is and does, without developing any sort of deeper relationship with him and despite the fact that Klavier is merely somewhat insufferable, that his "Prosecutor Gavin looks like he's in physical pain! I have to pull this darkness out of him!" in 4-4 comes out of left field and makes it look more like the game is trying to pretend they had the sort of relationship that'd justify this moment.
Here are my dream and nightmare blunt rotations: Ace Attorney edition
