[Sidenote: This is not the coining post, but it will go into more detail than the original since it's newer. See the original here.]
Obscurian is an umbrella term for genders (and sometimes other identities) that are unable to be named, quantified, understood, explained, comprehended, and/or determined. More broadly, it may define a vague, unknowable, or unexplainable experience, among other things. Obscurian experiences might just be ones that are unable to be named, quantified, etc., but it can also include things connected to more metaphorical concepts that cause obscurity, like fog or darkness.
Obscurian is not the same as questioning. It may be used as an umbrella for other labels, or as a stand-alone identity of its own.
It is an umbrella term, and as such can describe a very wide variety of experiences and terms. It isn't a xenogender, but it does fall under kenochoric.
The flag was never originally discussed or described, but some history will be explained here, as the original coiner.
The original flag (with 5 stripes) was meant to represent things that could distort one's vision or understanding of something, which is why it used dark and "creepy" colors. I also used purple since it's kenochoric. The new flag had been designed since some people didn't like the old one or thought it was unoriginal, so this has a different meaning.
The new flag was made with the idea of the black representing no knowledge, to the light yellow representing near infinite knowledge. This is because both extremes will cause someone to be unable to understand, quantify, name, explain, etc. what's happening in front of them. I preferred it since it seemed more inclusive of different ways something might become incomprehensible or unexplained.
Obscurian has a few coined subterms. Some are new to this post. Ones that aren't will be linked on their titles.
OBSIN: Obscurian-in-nature. Anything that's obscurian-y.
Obsic: Being aligned to obscurian. Similar to xenic and kenic.
Obscurine or Obscine: Obscurian quality, like feminine or masculine.
Obscure attraction: Attraction that is in some way obscurian. Also called obscurianal attraction, which has been coined.
Haze: An obscurian person; similar to "boy" and "girl."
Leer: An obscurian person; similar to "man" and "woman."
(Note: While haze is more associated with boy/girl and leer to man/woman, you don't need to be an adult/minor to use whichever you prefer.)
Obsernic: An obscurian aldernic subterm.
Obscurique: A gender that may feel strong, stable, and prominent when left unlabeled, but becomes distorted, unstable, non-existent, and/or changing when attempting to label or define it
Inscurian: When someone is obscurian because they're intersex.
Antanaver: A gender that represents the desire to be acknowledged, but cannot be, or does not want to be, perceived. It only shows as a mirror of the truth, rather than true reality.
Gendercipher: A gender related to ciphers, cryptology, and/or secret codes. Only sometimes counts as obscurian.
Valeogender: A gender that grows and develops over time, rather than changing. Considered obscurian since you don't really know where it's going to go next.
