Château de Brissac, France 🇫🇷
Château de Brissac is the tallest château in France, rising seven stories above the Loire Valley. Often called the “Giant of the Loire Valley,” it is one of the region’s most impressive historic residences.
The original fortress was built in the 11th century and later rebuilt in the 15th century by Pierre de Brézé. In the early 16th century, it was acquired by the House of Cossé-Brissac, whose descendants still own the château today.
During the French Wars of Religion, parts of the castle were damaged but were later restored into an elegant Renaissance-style residence with magnificent interiors and grand staircases.
Today, Château de Brissac is a popular tourist attraction known for its luxurious rooms, beautiful gardens, wine cellars, and the legend of the “Green Lady,” one of France’s most famous castle ghost stories.
