âWell not in that way anywayââ she couldnât help but quip at the ass comment, a smirk curving her lips. âThe fact that people think that all girls need is a good fuck and dick in their life is a fucking jokeââ she muttered, âFuck âem all, well not literally but seriously, donât give two shits about them, theyâre just wallowing in the pathetic status of their meaningless lives and do what they do best to try and bring others down. Ya hear thatââ she raised her voice to a couple of gossiping high schoolers, girls who had been a couple of years below the two of them. âGo fuck yaselves, the Kira Pride stop and stare is fuckinâ overââ she called, the girls staring at Raven until she made a move towards them. âFuck off alreadyâ!â she yelled, the girls scattering.Â
Kira couldnât help but laugh. It was a true enough statement in reality. Sheâd been a busy girl back then in more way than one. âTouchĂŠ.â Kira watched on with amusement, not bothering to hide it when Raven turned around to give two whispering birds a piece of her mind. Sheâd been giggling up until their panicked eyes moved to Kira looking for back up. She probably should have done her best to call Raven off, knowing that they were insiders and all but instead she arched a brow and declined their plea with her own glare before they went running. âAs much as I love seeing you play knight in- well letâs be realistic- dirt covered armor... Those twits are harmless. Annoying, but ultimately, nothing to worry about.â

After being together so long, it was like he had a radar, immediately able to recognize her voice in a crowded room. Then again, it wasnât difficult when it was coming from right behind him; he hadnât realized Kira was sitting there until sheâd spoken. Since the breakup over the summer, in his best efforts to avoid awkward conversations, Charles had done his best to avoid herâ which had been difficult to say the least, considering they shared a campus and mutual friends. Mentally he cursed at himself for getting near her, but to be fairâit had been her choice to sit so close to the cash register, and it was the lunch rush. For a moment he thought about just ignoring her, buying his food and taking it to meet his friends at their table in to corner. But if she happened to see himâand thought he was standing there to listen to her talk to herselfâit would be even worse. So heâd suck it up.
âBelieve me, nothing was further from my list of conversation topics.âÂ
She froze up momentarily as she heard his voice in her ears, feeling a little like sheâd been struck in the chest as she pulled in a breath. She could ignore him, let him feel the sting of her silence but her lips already pursed to speak. She commanded her frozen limbs to thaw as she swiveled in her seat to face him, arching a brow. As if he would have any idea how it felt to be painted as a slut or an emotional wreck by anyone gossiped about it with nothing in between. Either she was making her rounds through the other sophomore boys or she was at home bawling according to what sheâd heard. âYeah Iâm sure all those congratulatory slaps on the back from your boys for ditching your olâ ball and chain must be starting bruise by now.â She responded, though her face was smiling it was anything but friendly. âPoor, Chuck.â Her nickname for him sat about as comfortably in her mouth as a razor blade, the best she could hope for was that it cut him too.
ana-tremaine:
Ana listened avidly to the words coming out of Kiraâs mouth. Of course she was curious as to what was going on inside the girlâs headâ the breakup had been the shock of the century. King and Queen Bee suddenly not the power couple anymore? Calling it quits on some gross frat house lawn? The rumors were flying. Sheâd heard Charles had cheated, some slut at a frat party with fake boobs and a cheap wardrobe. But then sheâd also heard that Kira had been loose with her friendsâŚand his. And those werenât even the craziest ones. But sitting here across from the former head cheerleader, Ana was not about to start digging for gossip. Be cool, she reminded herself, trying to look nonchalant as she wrinkled her nose at the tidbit of information. âEw, thatâs beyond vile. What a creep, checking up on teenagers.âÂ
At Kiraâs words, she scoffed. âLet him, I donât care if he hears me!â she declared boldly, though truthfully she knew she didnât have enough social clout to be caught making statements like that. However she smiled as if she did, and after taking a bite of her salad, shrugged. âPeople should be asking him if heâs okay, heâs the one that needs it. Blowing it with Kira Pride?â she snorted. âGood luck ever recovering from that one.â Maybe she was laying it on a little thick, but she meant every word. Sure, Charles was the it-boy, the one with the slow grin and tousled hair, but Kira was the one who ran it all, beyond gorgeous and always perfectly poised. Anyone would have been a fool to think HE had come out of this better off. And as much as curiosity burned through her just as much as anyone else, sitting there across from Kira, Ana decided she wasnât going to make her rehash the details. Shrugging again, she picked up her fork and speared another piece of lettuce. âBut if you like, donât want to talk about it, thatâs totally fine. So old news.â
âI know right? Plus everything Iâve read on those blogs is utter crap too. Nobody cheated on anyone, nobody did anything. It just happens and now the town is treating it as though he smacked me around and I burned his house to the ground.â She sighed irritably. Even if she wanted to talk about the break up, she wouldnât know what to say. Theyâd broken up over a text? Underlying trust issues? The fact that they were stubborn and caught in a game of break up chicken and both had too much pride to fix it? No, instead sheâd reinforce that it was civil, despite the amount of people that had caught them fighting that night
Kira couldnât help but laugh at Anaâs bluster, a genuine grin on her lips for the first time in what felt like forever. âSettle down, mighty mouse.â She teased, patting the girlâs hand reassuringly before reaching into her bag, digging around for a granola bar. She felt a faint flush on her cheeks at Anaâs words, shaking her head a little. âI mean, Iâd love for him to be hung up about it. But with him and Garrett in the same dorm Iâm pretty sure weâre going to have a condom crisis in the next few weeks.â She joked bitterly, unwrapping her snack. âWhich is fine, I have a date Friday anyways. He should be happy.â She failed to mention that the date was over long before it started. It was more that if she was spotted out with some other boys, people might leave her be rather than her being ready for other guys. Sheâd tried sex a couple of times since the break up, but nothing ruined the moment quite like crying. âAnyways, thatâs enough about my boring love life. Who are you scoping these days?â

trevor-mutt:
âEasy killer!â He grinned, throwing his hands up in surrender. âI was just wondârin when your ass planned on gettinâ tâ fuck offâa my couch. No rush or anythinââ He snorted, throwing himself down beside the blonde, taking the drink from her hand and taking a sip before gagging. âWhat the fuck flavor is that?!â He accused, licking his stained sleeve to eradicate the taste from his mouth. âIf you want, I can hook you up with one of my boys. Palate cleanser as it were. Or maybe ya should give your other boyfrienâ a call. Michael, Eric. I lose track of your rapid thigh movements.â He snorted, scooting over before risking a slap.
She eyed him moodily as he came to collapse beside her one the crumb covered couch, lord knows she definitely wasnât on her side of the tracks with this mess. She grinned as he almost spat her drink back up, taking it back with a smug smile. âOh itâs stawberry.â She mused, holding up the vaguely pink beverage. âIt just has kale and raw egg in it too.â Definitely an acquired taste, not one that sheâd acquired by choice. She just about puked the first time sheâd drank it too. âI think my days of hopping outsiders ended a while back,â She laughed before scowling, reaching to slap him but he was too quick. âShut the hell up, youâre in no place to be pointing fingers and promiscuity.â
ana-tremaine:
âOhâI wasnât going to!â Ana squeaked out, surprised by the sudden vehement outburst by the blonde in front of her. For a moment she debated steering clear, before reminding herself that this was Kira Pride, and decisively sitting down in the empty seat across the table. The student center wasnât crowded, but they were friendsâshe didnât have to wait for an invitation. Smiling, she added, âPersonally I think youâre better off without himâ, tossing her hair over her shoulder as she poured dressing on her salad.Â
Kira didnât know when her sadistic streak developed. If it was bring with Charles or if it had been simply lurking in her personality since childhood. But she liked the squeaking of girlâs that thought she was about kick off. It was a noise her squad used to make a lot. Maybe it was simply that she liked feeling powerful after all those years of feeling anything but. âRelax, itâs fine. Itâs just- Even my teachers brought it up. I canât even stress how creepy it is that Mr. McKinnon even reads trashy blogs.â She grumbled, taking a bitter sip of her drink. For what little it was worth, she actually liked Ana. Girlâs that were smart enough to stay out of her way always had Kiraâs immediate respect. It didnât hurt that Eric had spoken of her once or twice. Like all things that were too hard for Kira to process, she had pushed the break up and the pain that went with it down until she was numbed. It had a special spot in her cabinet of masked pain right next to her parents and a little left of Michael. Kira was far from unintelligent or naive when it came to aiming to elevate their position on the social totem pole. She wasnât blind enough to think that should someone more intimidating than Kira herself, asked her what she thought of the break up, her answer may change.
Still, it was sort of nice to hear the words. Even if it was all anyone said to her lately before undoubtedly repeating the same thing to her ex. Each time she heard it, it stirred her protective nature. Though they were no longer together and on the surface she was glad, Charles had been, is and would possibly always be one of the most important aspects of her life. He was the one sheâd chosen and sheâd been stupid enough to think it couldâve lasted. She would always feel defensive when someone spoke down about him. He mightâve let her down, he mayâve broke her heart and he may be parading around town like that meant nothing to him, but he was a good man. she had faith that heâd continue to be, even without her. âDonât let him catch you saying that.â Kira joked lightly.
wickdraven:
She merely shrugged before returning to her laptop, âI didnât say a wordââ she replied with  a sigh. âThough Iâm kinda over hearinâ about it every goddamn second of the day, I have better things to talk about then hearinâ about you and golden boys lovey dovey dramaââ
âYou think I like that I canât get two feet in any door without someone bringing it up?â Kira snapped, pressing her fingers to her temples. âSeriously, a few damn zeroâs in my bank account and these asshole think that they deserve an all access pass to my life.â She sighed, lounging in her seat like a lazed cat. âGod, it almost makes me miss the days of Mutt hopping, at least people werenât on my ass twenty-four/seven. Lately itâs do this, do that. Get back on that horse as if I need a dick in me to think!â
âThe next person that asks me about the break up is going to find out how badly it hurts to be kicked by a girl wearing a stiletto.â She mumbled darkly, as she stirred her protein shake with a crazy straw. Sheâd spent her day trying to work out in peace, yet instead found herself wishing a weight would crush her so she didnât have to listen to another moment of Eric trying to comfort her. âIâm freaking fine. So I donât have to put up with the epitome of high maintenance anymore. Boo goddamn hoo.â

Love Runs Cold || Charles and Kira
charles-price:
Iâm done. The words had left his lips so easily, and for a moment while he felt them hang in the air between them, he wasnât sure that he meant them. Of course he hadnât meant them. This was just another fight, theyâd had them before, what couple hadnât? Sheâd yell, heâd get angry, but theyâd always work it out. He couldnât actually mean they were done.
Because this was Kira. This was the girl who he had known his whole life, though he may not have paid attention until recently. The girl who had changed everything, whoâd rejected his advances, whoâd made him chase her like heâd never chased anyone. She was the one whoâd jumped in front of him in a street fight, who hadnât been scared off when heâd tried to make her hate him, whoâd never sunk to his level. Even better, sheâd been so diligent about raising him to hers. Sheâd waited for him to come back from boarding school, sheâd waited for him to get his act together and figure out his feelings, and sheâd even inspired him to patch things up with his brother, something he wasnât sure heâd have been able to do otherwise. For the last three years sheâd been the unflinching light in his life, and sheâd forgiven him for every stupid word that had come out of his mouth. So this would be no different.
Except that it was. After speaking, heâd glanced away, staring into the dark, not wanting to have to watch her reaction. Anger still burned through his blood in a way alcohol could never match, but that didnât mean he wanted to witness his words sinking in. It wasnât until she spoke, her voice a dangerously weighted calm, that he turned back towards her. The questions she pinned him with had value; after all that theyâd been through together, she did deserve a more eloquent break up than just two words. But somehow, he just wasnât in the mood for the âitâs not you, itâs meâ speech. Instead he stood, stony faced and still, hiding from her any emotion that was tearing through him; anger fueled his words and actions but that didnât mean there werenât parts of him desperately trying to throw up the emergency breaks. It just mean that they didnât win.
As she stepped closer to him, he looked down at her, watching the way she kept herself composed; all but her little tells. With their faces this close he could have easily leaned in and kissed her, and part of him told him to. Kiss her. End this. But he couldnât. The ball had been set rolling and there was nothing he could doâor would doâto stop it. âYeah I guess so,â was the only thing he gave her in return. She was right, he was a coward. Take your anger, take your ball and go home.
The look on her face hurt him but he took that and buried it away with the rest of him. He wasnât going to take it back. The words hung in the air between them and he let them, turning on his heel; turning his back on her, on them. The doorway into the house blared music that seemed out of place compared to the absolute stillness of his head but he stepped through it anyway, losing himself in the crowd, and leaving her alone on the darkened lawn.
He had kissed her scars. Literally. After what Lyonâs had done, bile had filled her throat every time she glanced at her body in the mirror with a deep seeded dread that it would make her unlovable. Then the boy who loved no one and nothing had silently admitted what he felt against them and she was certain theyâd never ache again. They were aching now. Their bandage was being ripped away before theyâd fully healed over. She was not blind, if there was someone in this world that came close to understanding Charles Price, it was Kira and vice versa. She could see the hesitation in his eyes, as if he wondered if heâd truly said it. She wanted to give him a moment to take it back, but her teeth had already snapped at his throat the moment she called him a coward. She knew it was the nail in their coffin. Charles wasnât going to fight for her. Sheâd be an idiot to think that he would.
âYeah, I guess so.â Four words that killed her to hear. Her hands balled into fists as she smothered the urge to shove him. He could take what he wanted from her, but not that. She wouldnât lay a hand on him. The silence that lingered was deafening, staring at one another as if it were some sort of game of love chicken, be the first to give in and win a prize! The prize was the possibility of not losing the other, but the risk was the other walking away and not even having your dignity to fall back on. âI should have listened.â She uttered quietly as he turned from her, clearly satisfied with his final words. âYou were the biggest mistake I have ever made.â He didnât turn back to her, his feet just kept moving to the door as she tried to remind herself how to take a steady breath.
There was a thud of a door and just like that she was alone on the dark lawn and if she was being honest, she had forgotten how sinister the dark could feel. Kira was used to feeling very little, it was how she survived all she had survived, but right now it was a flood gate that had been released and she was sure whether all or nothing was more painful. She wondered if Charles had found his way back to the doe eyed bitch yet- she cut the thought short as the images of him leading her up stairs and burying two years worth of memories in some other girl. Fumbling for her phone, she called the person she knew would ask no questions; Trevor Mutt. Before his cocky voice could even fill her ears, she cut in. âI need you to come get me.â
