The scrolls were soft in her taloned hands as she gently shuffled through them. Searching, organizing. There was something soothing about it, despite her task at hand.
There had been.. rumors, lately. Murmurs, whispers, trickling to her ears.
Evangeline was good at those, but for this, she sincerely hoped she was mistaken.
The star chart- ancient, fragile, rolled and sealed carefully- finally found her hand. With a quiet whisper of a sound, she pulled it free and made her way back to the expansive table.
There, every inch was covered. Graphs, books, scrolls, charts. Notes of her own and multitudes of others. Centuries of scraps, shreds, and pieces of a puzzle long since scattered.
She had the pieces now, she knew, with the final one unfurling under her careful claws and settling into metaphorical place with silent yet deafening click.
The stars were, quite literally, aligning. Every whisper, every hint, every tell⦠everything led to the single confirmation that Eva wanted the very least, heart dropping down through the floor.
