this is going around twitter and i thought it'd be a fun little thing to bond over
in the tags as usual
I keep seeing this on my dash and thinking we're meant to be bonding over being mad that the coffee gradient is going in the wrong direction compared to the other two.
[ID: An image of three gradients: the first shows a cut of beef labeled 1-5, and moving from left to right the beef is progressively more well-cooked, going from pink to brown. The second gradient is labeled 1-6 and shows slices of bread in various stages of being toasted; from left to right the bread again goes from pale untoasted white bread to deep brown burnt toast. Lastly, the gradient is labeled A through F and shows a cup of coffee with progressively more milk, but instead of going from palest to darkest, from left to right it starts at black coffee and ends at pale milky coffee.]
No hold on - what if they’re all oriented correctly, with the scale being “least amount of interference from the ground state of the Thing” on the left to “maximum interference with the Thing, farthest possible distance from the ground state, before it fundamentally changes the nature of the Thing” on the right
Spectrum one shows meat being converted through the addition of heat into shoe leather
Spectrum two, bread being converted into carbon through heat
Spectrum three, hot drink (usually defined as ‘tea’ whenever the toast&tea images are posted to catch British people) converted through the addition of milk into a cup of milk!
The spectrum is not light->dark but default->changed!
i think youre overthinking it
