like natsu and lucy don't, in fact, even try

they've just become so close that when they finally make that final step the guild takes their behaviour as normal

(mostly because their relationship didn't change, they just added the kissing and the 'no freaking out that much when natsu is breaking and entering in my home' kinda thing in their routine)

like some guy is trying to flirt with lucy and natsu sets his hair on fire? normal best friend behaviour there. lucy and natsu sitting real close and her talking his ear off but him listening with what seems to be a bored look but isn't because he adores her? oh yeah their partnership is one of the best in the guild, platonic 100% real no fake. natsu and lucy smiling at each other all across the guild? pffft, that's been happening since X784 and y'all know it.

so, really, the guild just doesn't know about them because they see what they do as a "natsu and lucy" thing and not as a "boyfriend and girlfriend" thing, and also lucy is still shy about the whole thing so they don't kiss in public

and then one day lucy picks up a job to do which is perfect because she has to pay rent dammit and one of the rewards is a silver key but the job is like three towns over and they would have to go in train and natsu who wanted another one just looks at her and goes "a silver key? but that's just for you... and the train..." and lucy gives him the puppy eyes "please? natsu?" and he gives in, but in like, two seconds "okay then! we'll do that one" and lucy yelps and hugs him and pecks him on the lips and then she goes home to pack and natsu is left with a silly grin on his lips because he adores that girl okay and then he calls happy and they go pack too and the guild is all like:

NO MORE HAIR TUFTS CATRA!!

*opens water bottle*
