I’ve no idea what to say, other than thank you all for following me here on Tumblr, and for following my fic! I’ve so greatly enjoyed interacting with you guys here - seriously, it’s been a blast, and you guys are so awesome, and just.. gah. Thank you all so much!! I hope you enjoy this last chapter. 

I may use this tumblr in future if I ever post more stories. I want to eventually attempt writing shorter fics or even just stories a couple chapters long, so I may update those kind of goings on here. 

(internal screaming)  

So I can almost say for absolute certain that the final update will come sometime next week. I’ve gotten used to posting on Fridays, so it may well be next Friday, but I may still post it if it’s ready during the week, as well.

So the next chapter is on its way, but it’s definitely a difficult one to sort out. Just like, how do you make everything seem natural and at a good pace, and all that. Maybe I’m over-concerning myself with it, who knows. But the mere organisation of it is such... a... struggle... gah.

Anywho, I just wanted to let you guys know I’m still kickin’ around, and that the last chapter is definitely being worked on. I’m about 2,000+ words in, but basically I’m just throwing everything onto the page, and it’ll all likely get sorted and fixed and thrown around some more later on. 

You guys have been all so amazing to stick with me for so long. I often go back and read previous chapters, just to see if it still reads the same as when I first wrote it and to get myself into the right headspace before writing the next chapter. I wish so, so much that I could go back and re-write so many of those chapters, or those scenes, or those dialogues or what have you. I find so many places that are in such desperate need of repair, and all I can do is be humbled and amazed that you guys still enjoy the story, despite the plot holes, repeated words that I repeatedly repeat one after the other, or sentences that carry on and on with words that are added which aren’t really needed, and the amount of commas I use, yikes, that was something my professors always pointed out, too, and those dashes, goodness, and, just -

When it comes to writing, I find I absolutely cannot listen to anything with lyrics - I’m someone who finds that way too distracting. But I’m also someone who almost always is listening to instrumental music, most often soundtracks. To be honest, a lot of tracks from movie and TV show soundtracks are what have inspired and helped write a lot of the scenes in this fic (and every story I write). But I’m definitely going to take a listen to that song - I can’t wait to hear it, I’m sure it’s exactly as you say 😁

After “The Lost and Forgotten” is finished, I plan to turn my attention to working on an original fiction that’s been on my mind, and that I’ve finally started putting meat onto bones with, so I won’t be jumping back into any big fanfiction too terribly soon.

That’s the plan, anyway. There is one other Spider-Man plot bunny that’s been rattting around in my head for a while, and I may one day have to write it down if I ever want to get it out, haha.

I’ve been reading fanfiction since I was twelve and writing it since I was 15 (I’m 29 now), so I’ll certainly be around in future :) I just love it all too much.

So I’ve finally sat down and gone through all my notes, and finally made outlines for the rest of the story! There will be (SHOULD be, anyways) three more chapters, one of which is an epilogue (but that will likely turn into a long epilogue, too). I’m pleased enough with it all, I think. 

This monster of a fic was supposed to be more than half of what it is. But then I kept thinking of more twists and more turns, and more issues that had to be dealt with, more angst and injury to give to Peter, and now here we are. I wish I could go back and re-do everything, make it all flow better and not leave as many plot-holes as there are, or questions that may not get answered (I will do my best to answer them all by the end, but I’m sure there’ll be some I will miss, because I mean, just look at how big this fic is 😱). I’m sure you can tell there are some routes I started going down, then abandoned - I hope you’ll not mind looking past those and are still enjoy the fic 😊 . I suppose that’s why most people publish completed stories, and don’t go down the serialization route, but darn it - if Dickens can do it, so can we! (er... right? 😬 )

I’ve really enjoyed writing this story, and all of you - and all the readers’ response and support - is what gave me the encouragement, motivation, and desire to continue and now finish it. I had the idea in my head for a while, and it’s been so much fun to sit down and go through the whole process of brainstorming, outlining, and eventually writing it all out. I believe fanfiction is a fantastic, fun, and wonderful way for people who enjoy writing to learn the craft, and practice it as much as they can, getting great feedback along the way. And it’s an absolute blast to read it, as well  😁 . Thank you for allowing me practice!
