also sometimes I am just out and about and see those pictograms and it's just me nodding at Kermit while he nods back at me.

He also created the olympics pictograms from 1972 that are STILL around and just get tiny changes every now and then.

Also pictograms have to be learned in order to be understood. If you see a pictogram of… the Triathlon (20 in the picture below), you really need to /know/ that in this sport people run, swim and ride a bike.

And rember: all pictograms are icons, but not all icons are pictograms!

Icons can convey a feeling (example is basically every spiritual icon), can be metaphorical (the floppy disc for 'saving' or the folders for files on a computer), while pictograms are highly specific and a discription what is happening/to be expected (a sports or a phone) or what is advised (arrows for 'this way' and the stop sign).
