let me show you my vision.
both Aaron and Jasper are such are such Fake People Pleasers that are at opposite ends of the spectrum, I believe in my heart that Jasper had a one sided rivalry with Aaron, and both of their dads are in jail. also. Definitely both had a crush on Call.
Aaron definitely has that whole complex after the Makar thing in book one, he hates it but he has to be the best and the Assembly’s golden boy. He’s lying all the time forever about his feelings, and in tbk we find out he was lying about his dad and whomst the fuck knows what else. And he’s Pissed when people find out. Jasper definitely had a thing going on where he needed to be the best just sheerly out of his reaction when Rufus didn’t pick him. I know he Said he was mad at Call for taking his spot, but I think the real person he was mad at was Aaron. It was easy to be mad at Call cause this random guy?? With his fuckass dad?? And his shitass score?? Got picked over him?? But Aaron was the one with the highest score, that got picked over him. He was this kid from a non legacy family, while Jasper’s probably been learning his whole life for this, and he still couldn’t beat him out. Call was Rufus’ wildcard, that wasn’t who he needed to beat, but Aaron was chosen because he was the best. Anyway back onto the Fake People Pleaser’s Club, Jasper comes off as super arrogant and good at magic, but Once Again! In the first book! When he has a bit of a menty b in the library practicing fire magic we can see what he’s really like, and then we never see that shit again.
uhhh, also Jasper was definitely super jealous when Aaron turned out to be a Makar, that jealousy was definitely lingering in the back of his mind when he spilled the beans about Aaron’s dad to Celia, but then he feels super bad when Aaron dies. Also, I don’t recall him saying a single word that it might be bad to bring back Aaron.
also Aaron definitely punched him when they were sharing a bed in tcg and also threatened his life a couple times so that adds spice for me :)
