The closing gallery in The Art of KLK Vol. 3 (Mandarake) features new illustrations by several of the creators who worked on the anime. This dramatic scene is by Kill la Kill director Hiroyuki Imaishi (今石洋之).

The first step you can take is verifying that the convention is legit (do they have a website, what are people saying about it, what is on their facebook page) and that the person contacting you does work for the convention. You need to be cautious to avoid scams but have a backup plan, just in case.
