Finale Night!

Hey everyone! As crazy and awful as parts of this show and fandom have been, I’ve mostly had a really fun experience getting too attached to this ridiculous show with you all.

I don’t have time before the show starts to write a long, personal note like a lot of you have already done and included me in (thank you!) but just know that the reason I stuck with this show as long as I did, tried to stay at least somewhat involved in s7, and am tuning back in for the two-part finale is because of the awesome people I’ve had fun talking, laughing, analyzing, critiquing, and coming up with crazy theories (here’s how Bellamygate can still win) with.

You guys are all awesome. I’ve had so much fun talking with you over the 3 years I’ve been in this fandom. No matter how ridiculous or disappointing this last episode may be, let’s all try to have a last bit of fun with it!

And for those of you who aren’t watching anymore, I had fun with you too!

What makes this scene a million times more beautiful (and heartbreaking) is that John and Emori didn’t know about transcendence as they left to join the other side. They entered the mindspace together to die, and that’s exactly what they believed was happening. There was no more pain or fear, no more worry or or loss. The hurts of the past were washed away, the sins forgiven. The endless battle to keep the other alive was finally done. They were at peace, there were no regrets, and they were ready to go. They lived and loved on their own terms in a world that was nothing but cruel to them. They ‘died’ in one another’s arms, happier than they ever dreamed possible, just as they always desperately wanted. Whatever was waiting for them in the next life, if anything, they were facing it together. Even if they didn’t choose to return, they got as close to a happily ever after as they could’ve. And after everything they went through, that’s what they deserved

I mentioned this on Twitter but: What I appreciated most about Memori throughout the years is how they were portrayed as realistic as possible to the modern viewer. It’s rather easy in apocalyptic sci-fi land to get so lost in the plot, the drama, the magic etc of it all that when we see ships, they aren’t experiencing the same hiccups or challenges that the average couple does. It’s highly unlikely that you and your girlfriend will have to pull a lever that kills a mountain of people or diffuse a nuclear reactor, but I’m willing to bet that y’all will at some point have a hard time communicating the fact that your relationship is changing. Even in the midst of constant, absolute chaos John and Emori’s very normal problems were not glossed over in favor of more exciting/fantasy ones. Instead of only giving airtime to their moments of pain or anger, we were shown both the happy and sad times together. This is why they have lasted the test of time and why fans have grown so attached them. They’re just two humans going through it, and people can relate to that. Memori is as real as the apocalypse can get and for that I’m grateful

So: I admit that the whole “glow” line could easily refer to Nikki being upset that Emori is keeping up the Prime Lie™️ & living in luxury in the palace like a fake ass bitch B U T that still gives me absolutely NO explanation as to why she just STARED at her stomach for like 20 fucking years. ok yeah, as just a *line* i could see that be referring to the prime lie/living in luxury/etc. that makes sense. but the DELIVERY of that line,,,,, the acting choice, the directing choice, the editing choice,,,, what’s the reason for THAT. unless they are just *that* oblivious to how it came off onscreen which,,,,, given this show’s track history i would,,, actually not be surprised,,,,
