they have tattoos!! they're obviously permanent, they didnt wash off in the river in brazil so how did they get them? who did it? did they find a tattoo gun? did Donnie make one or are they stick and pokes? either way the designs are cool, one of them has a good hand and design ideas (mikey?)

Let’s be honest— haven’t most teenagers wanted a tattoo in their lives? TMNTpedia confirms their birthday is in September of 1999, making them 14 years old during the first film (which takes place in March) and 14 year olds don’t exactly have the best judgement yet.

So when your dad says no to DIY tattoos and you’re a six foot something mutant that can’t exactly waltz into a tattoo parlor (not to mention you’re not even of age), you gotta get creative. And when the shady parlor in Brooklyn you found on yelp stays open until 1 a.m., well, you take your shot.

Block the entrance. Sneak in the back door. Give 25 year old apprentice Danny the choice of tattooing four giant monsters or a knuckle sandwich. Oh, and make sure everyone’s settled since they wouldn’t be back for another session.

Mikey designed a shoulder turtle tattoo for everyone to get (I’m for real, they all have the same tattoo on their shoulders!!) and Leo got some extra ones by his own design. Any time this Danny kid started slacking Raph made sure to put him back on track. Speaking of, Raph cried like a baby while Donnie didn’t even flinch. And as due payment, the turtles figured a Chloroform soaked rag to the nose and $200 would suffice.
