Soubi was not born a blank, Ritsu conditions Soubi into thinking he is a blank.
That he has a thread of fate, even a severed thread, evidence that Soubi is NOT a born blank, but is conditioned into believing he is a blank — by Ritsu — who severed Soubi’s thread in the process. Soubi’s loose thread of fate indicates that he does not have a connection, or completed bond with his fated partner, it does NOT indicate that his fated partner is dead (nor does it verify that fated partner is alive, they may have been killed, and burnt to a crisp in a schoolroom) because the thread connects fated partners, even if one has died. Threads can be severed several ways: by the free will of the bearer, choosing to deny fate and avoid the bond, which I cannot imagine Soubi doing, not only because he craves connection more than life, but because Soubi does not believe he has a connection to sever, having been relentlessly told by Ritsu that he is a blank with no connection, Soubi cannot deliberately sever what he does not believe exists; by the connection to bond being missed, unfulfilled, uncompleted.
Soubi, despite his belief that he is a blank: has a true name, though it’s neither visible, nor does Soubi appear to know what it is as Ritsu has until this point kept its very existence from him (I think Ritsu reveals this accidentally, and I do not think Soubi has consciously registered the full implications of what Ritsu has let slip); Soubi also has a thread, once the connection to his fated sacrifice, severed by Ritsu (because we can’t possibly hate Ritsu enough) as he forces Soubi into a being a blank for all intents and purposes. Soubi’s having both a true name, though unknown and invisible, and a thread of fate, though severed, demonstrate that he was NOT born a blank.
Me: I’m beginning to think Yun Kouga won’t finish Loveless before I die. [I’ve flatlined 3 times, this is not an unreasonable thought.]
Friend: That sicko manga?
Me: 🙄 [My friend and I agree to disagree to maintain our friendship.]
Friend: Good, then you’ll stop obsessing over it.
Me: Do you know how long it’s been since the last volume was published?
Friend: A year?
Me: …
Friend: Two?
Me: …
Friend: How long?
Me: The English translation? Eight years ago.
Friend: Oh god, you’re in this forever.
Me: 😏
Great user name! Great cat names too. The black one reminds me of my dear Callisto, rip.
Thank you! I have a thing about cat names. I adopted sibling kittens once, a tortoiseshell - Harlequin, and a tuxedo - Pierrot … full names: Harlequin Pooh Lovecraft; and Pierrot Roberts.
Since Canada is currently trying to sell itself as an "ethical alternative" to Iran's oil, I would just like to remind folks / share some quick information:
More than 50% of Indigenous communities in reserve areas in Canada are at high risk of pipeline spills. When there is a spill, reserves are disproportionately impacted.
The National Energy Board and Supreme Court of Canada has a history of declaring the "public interest and economic interests outweigh Indigenous and treaty rights." Basically, Indigenous peoples don't count enough as "public" to matter.
Pipelines are built without proper consent from the Indigenous Nations they choose to occupy. Keep in mind I say choose, because this is the case even when alternative pipeline routes are suggested that could avoid reserve land. This is a direct, constant, and often violent threat to Indigenous sovereignty.
The MMIW crisis is funded by the oil industry through the creation of worker's "man camps" near reserve land. These "man camps" are nothing but pits of sexual violence and human trafficking of Indigenous women and girls. I am not exaggerating; this is well studied and well documented.

@catboyobsession @applestorms @jjj4freak Soubi is neither wearing a belly button ring, nor a nipple ring on his right nipple. I’m still searching for a panel including Soubi’s left nipple, but tight shirts speak against any nipple rings. This leaves us wondering about the one location we’re unable to rule out.
#not on my bingo card for today’s concerns.
I have three MAs, decades of literary analysis — including published papers … why is over 50% of my brain obsessed with Loveless??????
I’m part of a closed online community which discusses dark, sometimes taboo, romance in the narrative arts. Unsurprisingly, Yun Kouga’s Loveless manga is mentioned from time to time. Loveless is controversial, and while it isn’t unusual to run across anti-Loveless, anti-Soubi sentiment in social media, I’ve never seen it within this particular community … until this morning.
The poster, after purchasing and reading all 13 volumes of Loveless, is furious to find that Soubi and Ritsuka never consummate their relationship. I’m laughing so hard. 🤣🤣🤣
