it matters to me that he lived his whole life one way believing it was the way he needed to live, and then trusted the people who gave him a second chance that a softer alternative to living in a constant state of war was real and accepting the support he needed to pursue that alternative for the benefit of his child and eventual wife and friends

that whenever he is offered a chance to do better he always takes it even when it doesn't directly benefit him is a very important aspect of his character to me. that he had to get to that place from his origins as a monster as the first born son of a monster from a legacy of monsters matters to me. That he chose to break those habits and that cycle so it wouldn't hurt his son anymore matters so much to me.
