To anyone out there listening, who has lost a pet, I need a light in this darkness.
I suffer from major depressive disorder, anxiety, and ADD. Starting in October, my mom went in for open heart surgery, and she is recovering fine. But at the same time my dog started getting really sick from the masses in her liver. In December while helping my mom recover, and taking care of my dog, I had to have gallbladder removal surgery. This is about the time I started to lose hair. I didn't notice because I had other things to worry about.
Now my dog has gotten bad to the point where we have to monitor how much food and water she consumes at one time, because the masses are pressing on her stomach, and if she has too much she throws up.
I'm in arguments with my mom, because when we do decide to put her down, she doesn't understand why I would want her ashes. In the past, I've had moments where my dog is the only reason I haven't killed myself.
How do you cope with the loss of a pet? My heart is broken and she isn't gone yet, and I don't know how to say goodbye.
Look, I know a good number of you are from the US and things aren't amazing there either, but my country is literally on the brink of collapse. So I'd love it if we could talk about that for a minute.

A second COVID wave has taken out the healthcare system. There are no more hospital beds. There's an oxygen shortage. There's a critical vaccine shortage. The Central Government has thrown its hands up and is passing the baton to the State Governments to do what they can.
There are over 16 million covid cases. A record 330,000 new cases reported yesterday - comparable to the US at its peak. 187,000 dead as of today.
There is no plan.
Mass cremations are taking place. The cremation grounds are running day and night and they are short on wood. People are watching their loved ones die while waiting for a hospital bed, and then they're unable to give them the proper burial rights.
Hospitals are overwhelmed. Patients are being confined, two to a bed. They're the lucky ones.
We are on the verge of people dying in the streets.
This is the second-most populous country in the world. The largest democracy. A country that encapsulates over 15,000 years of recorded human history and has endured everything from famine to invasion to colonisation.
We might be at the end. This might be the thing that does us in.
People are dying.

More good news? Variants are popping up. A double mutation strain has shown up. It is resistant to current vaccines. This will not go away. This is the devastation they warned of when the anti-maskers were out protesting the minor inconvenience of covering their face in public.
My country is on the verge of an emergency state. Our government has failed us. This is as dire a situation as it ever could be.
Look. I don't do much with my life. I write fics, some of you have read them and that's pretty much it. I spend my days with my head in the clouds because that's where I like to be.
But two days ago, my grandmother tested positive, had to be taken to hospital and the ambulance caught fire.
She barely made it to the urgent care she needs.
So, here I am, using whatever meager platform I have to cobble this request together. Because I have to do something.
I had a thought of maybe somehow someone getting a white stuffed animal ferret to scorpius, and telling him that story, and maybe scorpius starts sneaking them everywhere and filling the house with them, just to annoy his dad. Or even just baby scorpius in love with a white ferret plushie, carrying it everywhere with him

To start off I always have, and always will love the Harry Potter books.
I am rereading them as a now 31 year old person, the same age that snape, Sirius, remus, and peter pettigrew were in what was harry's first year of hogwarts.....
A) the dursleys are still shitty caregivers...
B) harry potter and draco malfoy are still obviously in love with each other
C) hagrid is a smol hedgehog that must be protected at all costs
D) Minerva Mcgonagall is the only real adult/educator at hogwarts. Concerned for student welfare, and disciplinarian who actually supports any and all students...
-Dumbledore was too focused on the "big picture" to actually make any real decisions about the other students welfare.
- Snape is an overgrown manchild/bully who can't let go of his hatred, to actually treat people like human beings. I get it, I was bullied, but that just means I'm less likely to tolerate it if I see it happening to anyone else.
E) the reason the "golden trio" work so well together, is their very different personalities (my mother found them to be annoying, but come on, they are children with one personality each, but together make an actual well formed human being)
F) I love mad-eye moody and tonks' dialogue (also telling, "CONSTANT VIGILANCE" randomly at my mom)
G) the weasley twins are actually the most talented of all the weasley children, but are never recognized
H) Voldemort is described as having a high pitched voice, and in my head, ends up sounding like a chipmunk, which is not very scary....
