stimming is a completely natural thing that nearly everbody does <3.

although it's most often associated with autism and anxiety, stimming can be highly benifical for everybody to help out let out build up stress (or other emotions) in tough / silent situations.

here are some usual examples:

✰ foot tapping.

✰ fingertapping.

✰ counting fingers.

✰ clicking pens.

✰ chewing lids.

✰ needing to keep your hands busy.

stimming is also used a lot in age regression.

it can used as a way for little ones to let out and work through big emotions, it can be used for a way to communicate- and it can be also used as tell signs that you're little one is uncomfortable or unhappy / stressed out about a situation.

this is why it's important for caregivers to understand both their littles verbal and silent forms of communication, because what could look like harmless stimming for one agere could be a cry of overstimulation for another <3.

here are a few examples of agere stimming.

✰ using pacifiers

✰ playing with toys.

✰ playing with fidget toys.

✰ swaying / dancing to repeated music.

✰ rocking / self soothing motions.

✰ repeated tapping on toys, blocks etc.

✰ slime / sensory play.

remember, you don't need to be in a certain catergory to stim. it's a perfectly natural release technique that a lot of people use to help <3.
