you only hate me because of my actions
if i wake up at a reasonable hour, the website greets me with wet heavy. if i get out of bed well past noon feeling like sludge, i get justin bieber penis gnome. i can always count on them both being there around roughly the same times every day. my two beloved neighbors Wet Heavy and JB Penis Gnome
tony's chocolonely mildly pisses me off every time i eat it. like yeah i get it ur doing a whole symbolism thing about unfairness and whatever, but its actually SO DIFFICULT to eat fucking. gerrymandered chocolate. your symbolism is ruining my chocolate experience.
who approved this.
like. ur already more expensive. i understand this. i am willing to pay more money to have slave-free delicious chocolate. why must you punish me further by making it a goddamn puzzle to break a piece off.
Tony's Chocolonely does not ensure a living wage for cocoa workers in West Africa (see 2020 report by Voice Network).
Food Empowerment Project maintains an updated list of chocolate brands they recommend based on the following standards:
transparency about the country of origin for cocoa
if sourced from Western Africa, the workers must own the companies/be in charge of the profits from their labor (this standard is because child labor and slavery have been widely documented for decades in this area)
if sourced from Brazil, the workers must own the company and/or be in charge of the profits from their labor, or the company must be going above and beyond to support the workers and their families (this standard is because "child labor and slavery only recently have been documented in cocoa in Brazil" and they are "giving Brazilian companies that are trying to address the issue by supporting the workers and their families the benefit of the doubt.")
this isn't perfect, obviously, but it is much more grounded in the rights of workers than the various certifications (e.g. Fair Trade, Rainforest Alliance, etc.) you'll see on product packaging
I think it should be noted that the Food Empowerment Project specifically only lists companies making "at least one vegan chocolate product" and that they only ask about the companies' vegan chocolates specifically. Their list is not an exhaustive resource for every type of chocolate.
[Source: "Understanding Our Chocolate List" from their website]
Before I found that link I was curious as to why I didn't see any Norwegian manufacturers on their list(which makes sense now, as their chocolates are almost exclusively milk chocolate) and looked up where our companies source their chocolate from and found Nidar gets theirs from the Rainforest Alliance and Freia from Cocoa Life, both of which have been under scrutiny for not preventing child labour and not paying farmers a living wage among other things. So it appears Norwegian chocolate is out of the ethical picture.
I stated this in the comments of the post already, but it’d probably be better to add it as a reblog, so it’s more visible and doesn’t need to be restated by anyone else in the future.
So, Tony’s allied with Barry Callebut to get its cocoa. Barry Callebut is one of the biggest chocolate companies in the world, and it is unethical, obviously. This led to Tony’s revealing in February 2022 that 1701 child laborers were in their supply chain. Barry Callebut had over 21K at the time. Both of those numbers have risen, and Tony’s has outright admitted they don’t give a fuck about child labor laws when asked about it, content to let children to continue farming their cocoa instead of actually doing the activism they claim to do. (business-humanrights.org, feb 6 2022)
About a week ago, Tony’s joined Barry, Nestle and Ferrero in pushing against the reinstatement of important EUDR deforestation legislations. Under that regulation that they pushed against, they would’ve had to be more transparent about their supply chains for their more key ingredients - So Tony’s is lobbying against the exact thing they claim to stand for. (confectioneryproduction.com, mar 18, 2026)
Won’t restate @closet-keys’s addition, of course. That’d just be redundant and maybe annoying since, yknow, it’s already been said.
If you wanna find a better chocolate brand it’s really damn easy. There’s lists on slavefreechocolate.org of both the ethical and unethical companies. Both lists can be found here:
Below is a list of chocolate companies that only use ethically grown cocoa. Find out how you can tell if the chocolate you are ea
And it doesn’t have the vegan product restriction the other list has, which solves @aloofraven’s issue.

Sam Handwich.
If Pikiwedia says it it must be true.
I made Pikiwedia real. Works for any Wikipedia page. Use this wisely :)
Oh, wary dell vone
Goodmorning to the Anthropic Claude AI training scraper that suddenly decided to request 660 thousand pages (exactly the number I had remaining on the starter plan) and brought Pikiwedia down.
Sudden switch from diverse user agents like chrome, safari, messenger preview to Just Claudebot. I'm not even mad though, this is maybe the funniest thing possible, because I've inadvertently poisoned their training data with thousands of fucked up articles with normal urls.
Pikiwedia perseveres, back up with a better robots.txt. I hope Anthropic has a gery vood time with Pikiwedia's data :))
it really is crazy. i swear saying "women have it harder than men in our society" was not controversial on here as of like. a year ago.
Why is this heat so hot 😩
It’s the heat

Damnit. Mystery Flesh Pit guy uses AI.

kept forgetting to take pics of this guy but i like how it came out :3
I saw a post the other day trying to dunk on someone by saying "You will never see anarchy during your lifetime."
At the risk of sounding trite, I think we all see anarchy during our lifetimes, in those (admittedly and increasingly rare) moments when we're free from coercion and drudgery and can enjoy freedom and comradeship. I would almost go as far as to say that seeing anarchy in our lifetimes and wanting to see more of it is what makes people become anarchists
I mean, I don't know about everyone else, but I've seen anarchy several times in my life. It's often small scale, and it's always about a cause, but if you don't see it you aren't looking or don't know what anarchy is.
Occupy got some good anarchy going, just over ten years back. They had structures and systems that allowed their little slice of society to thrive in the space they occupied. Most revolutions of the time did; Libya in both dealing with and post dealing with Gaddafi was a great example, including their walling off his supporters to keep them from attempting a coup. Egypt definitely had a good anarchist commune feeling going in Tahrir Square.
What do all of these have in common? Governments stepped in and stepped on them. Not because of the disturbance to the peace - because they were working. Organically. In all 3 of these cited situations, government agencies stepped in to break it down before too much attention was given to what they were managing. They needed it to go away, because it made them look unnecessary and, worse, unimportant.
And that's the history of these movements. South American and Asian nations getting the CIA treatment, or worse, getting the Kissinger treatment. The Paris Commune. The entire Arab Spring (did you never wonder? Why the world looked away? Why nobody supported them to realise their freedom? It's because they were doing it wrong - because they were doing it for themselves by themselves).
The big nations need to make these go away, and fast, because it teaches people there can be a society without them. That the Leviathan is made of people, rather than is one giant powerful person. They remember that society is made of people, not structures. That all this, this modern life and all its systems and structures, is made up. Unnatural. That, beneath it all...
We don't need them.

The second rule of Fight Club is to not take the Fight Club's name in vain
Third rule: A Fight Club must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Rule
Very relevant indeed

Life Story
the amazing digital circus is a show about empathy and what it does to you if you go too long without a support system so the show starts with sympathizing with Pomni (the most empathetic person, easy), ep2 is empathizing with an NPC in a game (no flaws), ep3 is empathizing with a man who has dementia, ep4 is empathizing with someone who annoys you when they're unmasking, ep5 is asking you to empathize with a rich white woman and so on....
so it all works up to the empathy boss - a bush era edgelord millenial trans girl who thinks she's Max from Sam & Max and is inherently unworthy of love
and some people failed the empathy test
Exactly the show is not asking you to forgive her the show is asking to empathize with her those are different things
