For me, being kin is a means of release. I feel free when exploring my kin side. When I've tried to shut it out, I feel like I'm shutting out a part of myself. Like I'm cutting myself off from part of my soul. Being able to act out as, in my case, dogkin, I'm able to feel something I can't normally feel. It's part of my spiritual identity.

my mom says she hopes you guys are doing okay and that she worries about u so idk who you are or what ur doing but i hope u find 1 thing to be okay about today and know that… sometimes even strangers care. even if u got a lot of reasons for stuff to suck, there’s always one person u haven’t met yet who honestly and truly gives a fuck

Something I, and several other canine therians I know, do is chew on plastic water bottles and I even got myself a rope toy that is AWESOME to chew on because it's soft and doesn't hurt you're teeth or jaw but is still very tough and chewable. Sure, the rope isn't very subtle, but after explaining to my friends and family that I have a oral fixation, they seem to get it. So yeah, there are other options too if you want something softer.

I'm dogkin and I have an awful habit of chewing on things and always have ever sense I was little, it'd bad because I know some of the things I chew on are bad for my teeth but I just can't help it!

pssst! From one dogkin to another, I HIGHLY suggest investing in either a dog rope or teething chew sticks. The rope is made to handle chewing, but is gentle on your teeth and jaw, and teething sticks are MADE for humans, so they too won't hurt your jaw. Plus, you can buy them for cheap off of amazon and in different flavors! I use a dog rope, and after some simple explaining to my friends and family (Just say you have an oral fixation if you don't want to come out as therian) they understand my chewing on a dog toy.
