i wrote a short scenario for johnny and my oc, maisie, based from this prompt! ><
The soft glow of a retro lava lamp cast shifting patterns across Maisie's cozy apartment, its decor—floral wallpaper, a vintage record player, and potted plants—humming with quiet charm. It was late, the city outside settling into a rare stillness, and Maisie was in the bathroom, brushing her teeth and getting ready for bed, the faint sound of running water drifting through the cracked door. Johnny had let himself in through the balcony, as usual, and now sprawled on her couch. The Fantastic Four's latest mission prep had left him restless, and he'd figured Maisie's place was the best spot to burn off some energy.
Boredom hit fast, Johnny glanced around, his fingers tapping a rhythm on his knee, then stood and wandered into Maisie's bedroom, the scent of lavender from her shop, Fairy Petals, lingering on the air. His eyes landed on a corner shelf, and he froze, a grin spreading across his face. There, neatly arranged, was a shrine of Fantastic Four merchandise—mostly his. A Human Torch action figure in mid-flame, a signed poster from their first public appearance, a mug with his smirking face, and the most eye-catching one was a plushie of himself in his Fantastic Four suit, perched proudly on her nightstand. He smirked, picking up the plushie and turning it over in his hands, its stitched grin staring back at him. "Well, look at this," he muttured, amused. He sauntered back to the living room just as Maisie emerged from the bathroom, her hair damp and loose, wearing a cozy oversized sweater and pajama pants, her face fresh but tired. Her eyes widened as she saw what Johnny was holding.
"Do you really need all of that?" Johnny teased, waving the mini-Johnny plushie around, making its tiny arms flop. "You already have me. The real deal, in the flesh, flame on and everything."
Maisie's cheeks flushed, but her gentle humor kicked in as she crossed her arms. "Oh, please," she grinned, shaking her head. "He keeps me company whenever you're off saving the world or setting something on fire. Mini-Johnny doesn't talk back, either." She stepped forward, reaching for the plushie, but Johnny, with a mischievous glint, raised it high above her head, out of her grasp.
"Not so fast, flower girl," he said, chuckling as she swiped at the air. "You've got a whole shrine in there! Bobbleheads, keychains, even a mug with my face on it. I'm flattered, but.. come on, Maisie, you're dating the Human Torch. Why settle for merch when you've got the original?"
Maisie laughed, a soft, grounding sound, and made another playful grab for the plushie, her fingers brushing his arm. "Maybe I like collecting," she shot back, her tone teasing but warm. "It's not just about you, hot shot. The Fantastic Four are just.. fantastic and I'm supporting the team. Plus, the mug keeps my coffee hot—ironic, right?" She dodged around him, finally snatching the plushie from his hand with a triumphant grin. "And this guy? He's cute. You could learn a thing or two."
Johnny raised an eyebrow, stepping closer, his warmth radiating in the small space between them. "Cute, huh? I'm way cuter." He leaned in, his voice dropping to a mock-serious tone. "But seriously, Maisie, you're buying out every merch in the Baxter Building gift shop. What's next, a life-sized Torch standee for the shop?"
She clutched the mini-Johnny to her chest, her smile softening a mix of affection and mischief in her eyes. "Don't tempt me. I'd put it right by the tulips—perfect for scaring off pushy customers." She paused, as she looked at the plushie in her hands. "It's not just merch, Johnny. It's.. a reminder. You're out there doing crazy, dangerous stuff. This stuff makes me feel like you're still around, even when you're zooming through space."
Johnny's grin faded into something gentler, caught off guard by her sincerity. He reached out, tucking a damp strand of hair behind her ear. "You don't need a doll for that," he said softly. "I'm always coming back to you, Maisie. No cosmic crisis is gonna keep me away from Fairy Petals for long."
She looked up at him, her gently empathy meeting his earnest gaze, and for a moment, the room felt smaller, warmer. "Good," she said, her voice quiet but firm. "Because I'm holding you to that. And maybe bring me one of those new Fantastic Four pins next time you're at the gift shop."
Johnny's eyes lit up, his cocky charm blazing brighter than his flames. "Oh, you're trouble, Maisie. Lucky for you, I'm all about trouble." As he pulled her into a playful hug, his warmth enveloping her, then pressed a quick kiss to each cheek, his grin mischievous. He snatched the mini-Johnny from her hands, tossing it lightly onto the couch. "But you're keeping the real deal around, right? No doll's stealing my spotlight."
Maisie nudged him playfully, her smile bright. "Always, Johnny. Always. Mini-you's cute, but he's got nothing on the real hot shot."
