Mark & Emma watch four episodes of the original Gadget series, and consequently talk in depth about both it's history and also about our specific thoughts and things of note with regards to both the characters and indeed the plotlines of the episodes. For about the first 13 minutes of this episode, Lain & Mark discuss Naoki Urasawa's manga "Pluto" before getting completely sidetracked by the tripe that DiC Entertainment released over it's life time, to which they then create a brand new podcast, of which the pilot will be coming in a few days. The world may have temporarily gone into a massive state of shock and panic for He hath come, but never fear, for yet another goofy episode of Like What I Like is finally here, and a day early too!! (Content Warning: Food) Halloween in November. It's like Christmas in July, only a lot spookier. The two pals have set up a Trick and a Treat for each other, and decide what they get via a coin flip. This week, Mark inflicts one of two choices onto Lain: The first three Halloween specials of Brooklyn Nine-Nine or the Jem And The Holograms movie. Which will it be?? Also: They eat some really crap Halloween-themed candy. Send help.

How many of these have we done now? Three?? We need to do something about that. Anyway, this week, Lain takes on the “HD” port of Banjo-Kazooie on the Xbox 360 (as emulated on an Xbox One), but in a surprising twist of events, actually sort of likes it! Well, apart from a few glaring issues she had with the game that is. This one went out a bit later than usual due to Lain only getting 3 hours sleep on the day we normally put these things out and as such she was basically half-dead by time she could actually start editing. Feel free to start messaging us shouting at her to start editing episodes earlier than the day they have to be out, please.

Get your heads down, Mark is pissed. No, not drunk, though he did drink a cider during recording. He's pissed about Lilo & Stitch. Y'see, as much as this movie is loved, you gotta face facts; The writing in it is rubbish. Oh, yeah, it's cute, I mean even Lain still likes it. But even she agrees that, story-wise, it's not great. "But why is it shit?", I hear literally every single one of you shout at us via multiple megaphones, thus causing severe tinnitus to both of us. Well, listen and find out.

Alternate Title: "Lain's Snoozy Movies Part 2". Y'see, not only did the pair not really have much to say on the movie in general, but also both of them were incredibly sleepy for the entire thing, leading to this rather short episode. I suppose one could call this somewhat of a palate cleanser, to allow one to get back into the groove of regular LWIL episodes after the rather exciting EGX 2016 episode. Either way, onwards we plod.

In this episode, Lain stays up until past 5am just to make sure the episode goes out before she goes to bed. What? Oh, right. In this episode we regale our time from two days prior to recording, wherein we visited EGX, the UK’s only gaming convention that’s actually half-decent! We briefly touch upon how awful Tornado Storm energy drink is with a play-by-play review from Lain before hitting up each game we WISHED we looked at and followed up with every game we actually played (which, depsite what you’d think, wasn’t actually that many.) Get the kettle on, sit down, get comfy and enjoy this special feature length episode of Like What I Like, along with a bonus double length blooper at the end!

In this episode, the pair talk about the vampire mockumentary What We Do In The Shadows. And by "the pair", I mean Mark. Lain is here, yes, but not only did she watch the movie while half-asleep, she also slowly drained back into that snoozy state over the duration of the recording, so for the most part it's just kind of Mark gushing about how much he likes the movie. And then Lain also edited this episode half-asleep. Also she was pretty loud in the early parts of the episode too. As a result, she can confirm that so far this is the worst episode she has edited ever. Out of two. This one being the second one. Oh yeah and they kind of finish talking about that aforementioned movie like half way in and just kind of end up talking about other stuff Lain has watched. Also: Excited EGX talk! Today on Like What I Like, Lain & Mark find out how you gets to killaroo, with The Mighty Boosh! While this is a first for Mark, it's the also the first time in quite a while since Lain last saw the show. Is everything just as good as Lain remembered it being? Will they enjoy it? Or are they going to be living within a Hubba-Bubba nightmare forever? Spoilers: It's bad.

On a partially unrelated note, you may notice that this episode sounds a little bit different compared to the usual output. That would be because - for the first time ever - Lain has edited this episode and put her radio internship skills to use. As such, be sure to direct any complaints you have about this episode to her since it's entirely her fault.

We're finally back! With an all-new shorter format. We talk about the changes to the podcast, along with our thoughts on the actual topic; the first Volume of Hikaru Nakamura's Saint Young Men, a slice of life manga about Jesus and Buddha taking an extended holiday in modern day Japan.

Face front, true believers, because it’s finally time for another Marvellous Moviesode! We watched The Fantastic Four movie! No, not that one. Not that one either. Not the sequel to that one. The first one. The one they made in the early nineties because a bunch of lawyers realised that they needed to make a film simply to hold onto the rights. Never seen it? Probably for the best.

In this week's episode we gloss over Ressha Sentai ToQger (It's Power Rangers with trains) so that Lain can spend an inordinate amount of time talking about Praline Agent, er Parsnip Agent... er Paranoia Agent, a Satoshi Kon series about plush toys, social phemonenomns and childhood trauma.

Show Notes:

- We spend about 17-18 minutes talking about ToQger, with the rest of the running time spent discussing 80% of the plot of Paranoia Agent. If you don’t want spoilers then we highly recommend watching it because it’s pretty dang great.

- There was an great gag involving me playing the google text to speech saying “phenomenon” and Mark singing Mahna Mahna but it had to be cut due to time restraints.

- I’ve just found out that Satoshi Kon sadly passed away 6 years ago on the 24th of August. I’d like to just extend my gratitude for leaving behind such fantastic works of art as a legacy and that I hope he rests in peace.

We also get sidetracked occasionally, so that's something to look forward to.
