At twenty-seven, he is far less interested in the concept of "becoming the god of a new world"; he operates much more discreetly, killing criminals via accidents and suicides and only rarely resorting to heart attacks. This delayed the emergence of theories regarding Kira, meaning Light has never encountered L or received any messages from him. At this point, Light doubts whether anyone will even attempt to catch him. Unfortunately, the absence of youthful idealism has also made his life terribly boring.

+ The Death Note fell in the same location as in the canon, but at a different time. It was picked up by a student who used it to kill his bullies. When Light arrived in response to the situation, he listened to the student and asked him to give up the Death Note. That is how Light came to possess the Death Note himself.
+ In this au, the alias "Kira" does not exist—at least, not yet. People may have tried to explain the criminals' deaths, but since they die at different times and for various reasons... well, if anyone claims it is "Kira's doing," it is only in the deepest corners of the internet, and it is far from common knowledge.
+ Light made criminals (Death note) throw themselves in front of police cars to draw some attention. It worked, but the police currently believe the criminals are killing themselves under the influence of a cult; they suspect someone is promising them purification and salvation in exchange for suicide. No one has called Light "Kira" yet.
+ A criminal also threw himself in front of the police car Light was in, but Matsuda was driving. Light simply took the dashcam footage to the evidence department (and, naturally, copied it onto a flash drive for himself as well).
