Yea I since everyone’s been bringing this up I’ve been like… yall I really don’t think it’s as big of a deal as everyone’s making it out to be like it’s lowkey rare in nz to not have a little Maori down some lineage or another yknow

It became a bit of a hot topic because people on Twitter were being openly ignorant about Māori culture and Liam’s heritage to hate on him, even posting a photo of him doing the Haka and saying “he looks like he’d call me slurs”. And then when they were called out for cultural insensitivity they kept doubling down that because he “looks white” they didn’t do anything wrong. *That’s* why people are bringing it up and reminding people.

Huh. I don’t know why you’re getting all rude and aggressive all of a sudden, if I came across as such myself I didn’t mean too but okay, come out flying. I’m only saying this because I was on twitter during all this and it was frustrating to watch people disrespecting and speaking on cultures they don’t understand. In the grand scheme of things (the driving, the sport etc.) yes it might be “Not That Big Of A Deal” as you so say, but in the context of that incident, it IS important. That’s all I wanted to say.
