i saw a post earlier talking about how people really want chloe to find out all of lucifer's sacrifices for her so she can feel "grateful" to him etc and how that's wrong, but as someone who has literally been waiting years for her to find out that has never been why i think she needs to know.
chloe needs to know lucifer's sacrifices because when lucifer was doing all of these huge acts of love for her in s2, it was during a time that he was also actively pushing her away. if she doesn't see the full picture, if she doesn't know what happened and why he was being the way he was then, their relationship will never be fully equal because he knows things she doesn't.
remember, in 4x02 he says he is glad there are no more secrets between them - this is blatantly untrue. she deserves to know especially because those things all pertained to her and he made decisions for her and absolutely did lie to her when it comes to candy, even if he tells himself he didn't. this deserves to be addressed. yes, it came from a place of good intention, he died and went to hell for her - but he broke her heart, he made her feel unwanted and replaceable and she is definitely still feeling that and has to fight against it.
in her heart chloe knows who lucifer is, she has faith in him - but i have zero doubt that the reason she wanted to know if lucifer loved her or not is because she doesn't know what we know as an audience. she just knows what she feels, and what she feels goes against what she knows and their past. she remembers when they were going to be together and he came back married, not knowing it was all a ruse in a misguided attempt to "protect her" because he couldn't even fathom the idea of someone loving him and jumped to the conclusion that it was all a manipulation.
chloe finding out all of lucifer's sacrifices is not about her being grateful to him, it's about her finally feeling the full extent of the love that he has for her, finally understanding why he behaved the way he did in the past and being allowed to express how it made her feel for him to have done what he did - both the positive and the negative. it's about her having full authority and equal footing in their relationship.
