i saw a post on twitter by a european saying americans are fake for their random compliments to strangers and their general cheery demeanor and like no. no no no you don’t understand. if you get a random compliment from an american on the street about your outfit or whatever, that is 100% genuine. we mean it. we aren’t lying we are making a small but fleeting connection with you because our lives are shitty but the human condition is enduring. oh god i’m clutching my chest

I do not want to work

they should invent a desire to be desired that doesnt just make you feel humilated and guilty

oh look at me wanting to be both made useful and considered something worth wanting. like some kind of idiot

the fact that i'm no longer the same age as the protagonists of novels and films i once connected to is so heartbreaking. there was a time when I looked forward to turning their age. i did. and i also outgrew them. i continue to age, but they don't; never will. the immortality of fiction is beautiful, but cruel.

when books got invented mustve been a fucking crazy time just all of sudden everybody you know is carrying around a strange rectangle just looking at it? like an actual zombie staring at it for hours, brains fried! their attention spans are so low now like what ur too good to listen to bird song on loop for 9 hours a day? this generation is so fucking doomed
