It is sooo good but technically yes it is just implied. I think it is HEAVILY implied to the point of not actually being just implied BUT we do not actually get on-screen confirmation between the two leads. (There are some spoilers here that have probably already been spoiled for you if you've seen the gifsets I've reblogged.) We get Daniel's mom telling him and telling Betty (separately) that he's in love with her, and then Daniel goes after her, but we never get more than him asking her to dinner and her saying yes! And I think that should be illegal!!! Especially because there are MULTIPLE versions of Ugly Betty in different countries and languages and in EVERY SINGLE OTHER VERSION, they get together in canon and get married. I really truly do believe that they were setting up Daniel and Betty from the start, especially on rewatches, because there is just soo much stuff throughout the show. They found out they got canceled I believe halfway through shooting season 4 so that changed everything, and I've seen some people say him asking her to dinner in the last scene is platonic because they didn't build up a love story enough. But I don't agree! I have seen it since the pilot! And they definitely kicked it up a notch for the last half of the last season. He threw a fit when she tried to take someone else as a date to her sister's wedding and he spent the WHOLE night dancing with her and gazing lovingly at her and telling her how beautiful she looked! And I'm sorry but why would they have his mother tell both of them he has feelings for her, show him writing a whole public letter to the editor about changing your life for someone important to you, leaving the magazine he's spent the entire show clutching onto, and then following her to a different continent if they meant it all PLATONICALLY??? It does not make sense just from a writing perspective. In conclusion, they're canon and the haters can pry them from my cold, dead hands.
