Sorry for the radio silence, but this has been my life lately. Finals are upon me!

I know I’ve been lame and not posting. My excuse? It’s the run up to finals, Thanksgiving was a huge time suck, and these short rainy days are making me sleepy. But this is my life- lots of studying and practice for math. I’m also working on a light pollution research project that is very interesting!

So, finals are only two weeks out....must keep up with bringing a healthy lunch instead of eating junk on campus. Brain food!

I’m doing the 30 day studyblr challenge from @hayley-studies Day 19: post a picture of your desk with water nearby. I always have water (and usually coffee, too). My hydro flask is kept filled all day long :)

I’m also freezing ❄️ I’ve been standing in the cold with my honors society, because we were collecting donations for the domestic violence shelter. We got a ton of donations for women and children that really need it, so well worth a few hours outside!

I’m doing the 30 day studyblr challenge from @hayley-studies Day 15: show your handwriting. This is today’s lecture notes. My handwriting isn’t pretty or fancy- blocky all caps. I used to write smaller and even blockier, but hours of note taking made my handwriting worse instead of better.

I only have one lecture this afternoon, so I’ve set up shop for a long day of Home study. My desk isn’t as pretty as many of the ones I see on other studyblrs, but it’s my happy place!

In other news, I got through my math frustration yesterday and cane out the other side with an A on my quiz today! Now I need to quit procrastinating on an enviro sci paper that is due in the morning....

I’m doing the 30 day studyblr challenge from @hayley-studies Day 13: show a picture of your textbooks I’m on the quarter system, so we only take 3 classes. I have algebra, biology (major organisms), and enviro science. I’m having an awful day. I feel so stupid at math. Things that come easy for others are so hard for me. I’m totally stressed. I don’t know how anyone keeps all of these numbers and formulas straight 😭 I’m fighting the urge to give up...

I’m doing the 30 day studyblr challenge from @hayley-studies Day 12: your favorite snack There is only one answer- coffee. Hot or iced. Preferably either espresso or New Mexico piñon blend from Trader Joe’s. Always with coconut milk.

I’m doing the 30 day studyblr challenge from @hayley-studies Day 11: describe a typical day Saturday’s aren’t as strictly scheduled as weekdays, but here goes! 7:00 am- out of bed! I sleep in an extra hour usually. 8-ish am- breakfast and generally getting ready for the day. I usually work for a couple of hours (freelance editing) if I have nothing going on. Noon: I generally head to a coffee shop for an afternoon study session. This time it was environmental science stuff. 3:00 pm- back home. I stopped by the grocery store yesterday, then home for a short session with my planner. 7:00pm- Saturday is date night for myself and my partner! We went out for dinner and a movie last night, followed by drinks and darts.

I’m doing the 30 day studyblr challenge from @hayley-studies ! Day 10: who is your favorite professor? It’s really hard to narrow it down, but if I have to pick one it must be Dr. Kirkpatrick. When I stepped into her lecture hall last spring I was petrified. Not only was this my first hard science class (cellular biology), it was my first class as a returning student. I felt old and silly. Dr. K was great, though. She’s tough, she demands the best, and she runs a tight lab. She’s also supportive and dedicated to her students. Within a month I was at home with campus life and studying hard, in part thanks to her. She advises on everything, from her class and general study strategies to making plans for educational and future research goals. I have her again in spring for field botany. I can’t wait!
