Kinda funny how a woman’s place is in the kitchen until they’re a chef, a woman’s role is to care for others until they’ve a doctor, and a woman is expected to effortlessly manage households but not businesses or corporations. It seems that a woman can do anything except be in a position of power.

Was reflecting on the year so far. This is a sign to everyone that you should eat 12 grapes under the table for new years. Did it earlier this year and very soon after I got a job, I got a boyfriend, AND I got a healthier relationship with my father. lmfao

language resources on the internet i love you. i cannot believe i can just start learning a language like that. i can lookup any word in seconds. i can find grammar explanations. there are teachers who put out whole videos for me to learn. amazing. i am so lucky.

The day has come where I have finally accepted spending all day every day on my phone is probably killing my eyesight even more than genetics already was. Not to mention my mental health.

So, I’ve made a list of activities to do off technology that I’m going to try to do at least 2 of every day. There’s a fair chance more will come up but I’m not pushing it with expectations considering right now I’m doing zero of these most days.

♡ Read a chapter of a book

♡ Colour a colouring page

♡ Clean my room (or at least part of it)

♡ Do a puzzle

♡ Draw something

♡ Do a craft

♡ Write in my journal

♡ Paint something

♡ Practice writing in German or French

♡ Build a Lego set

♡ Do a chore I’ve been procrastinating

This is just a few things I thought of immediately but I will also count any other screenless less activities if they come up. This list is just a few ideas to start off with if I don’t know what to do.

I know everyone is probably done hearing about the US elections, but I'm from the us, and ultimately I wasn't that upset about it. I thought I had come to terms with it because there was nothing I could do. Just move on and accept what has occurred.

but then I found out that a really close friend of mine, who isn't even from the United States, likes trump.

I'm shocked. and more than that, I'm really sad. It's all starting to catch up to me, this whole thing. the fact that trump won. what it will mean for our future. and how fucking sick it is that people outside of the United States even like him. For a moment, I thought I was safe and I could pretend like nothing had changed. and that I didn't have to worry. I might be a woman, yeah which sucks. but I'm white and not openly queer. I thought I could hide behind my privilege and continue life as normal. but it turns out I can't. so. I'm just of just mourning the loss of what my life could have been without trump being elected. idk what to do

yeah the sun will keep rising and i'll still be able to do the things I love but I had been friends with him since before covid. years and years. back when trump was running against Biden we cheered when he was defeated and now he's been influenced. the one man in my life outside of my family who really meant something to me turns out to be a trumper. I think what is worse is that I don't want to let him go but I don't think I can look at him the same way. he literally was the nicest man i've ever known. very sweet and caring. he still is, which is why it makes me so hurt and confused that he supports such a man

my roman empire is that people have no idea how easy it is to learn another language. people look at me like I'm some kind of crazy mad genius when I tell them I know a few and I like to learn them. They all say "I could never do that" or "I'm not smart enough for that" and I try to tell them that it's possible and then they look at me like I'm insane. but it's possible for them to become just like me because I was once just like them. all you have to do is just take one step forward and try. it's not that hard I promise you. your capacity to learn things never stops. you have this imaginary mental block where you "just can't do it." JUST DO IT FOR CHRIST'S SAKE. you'll be surprised at the progress you'll make

I'm probably the stupidest person you've ever met. I get tripped up over small things. I'm at an elementary level of math. I'm dyslexic. I have never once in my life been good at school and am always on the verge of failing. a 5th grader is probably smarter than me. I have barely ever turned in homework. I'm pretty inept at societal rules and cues. but god all that means nothing to them when they find out I learn several languages

I did my first archaeological excavation yesterday!!

Spent practically my whole day digging, looking through dirt, and writing notes. I found a few artifacts in my unit too! A bunch of 1800s german style ceramics, rusted nails, glass, and (most importantly) A MOSTLY INTACT POT AHHHHHHHHHHHHH

I went to my local library to check out a few language learning audiobooks to listen to during my hour commute to school the other day. I went specifically for the German one, I get it, then I get home and look down at the audiobook, and see that I PICKED UP MODERN GREEK INSTEAD.
