â MAX ANDO, 25, CIS-MALE, HE/HIM ⥠welcome back to gallagher academy, LIAM HIRANO! according to their records, theyâre a THIRD year, specializing in THREAT ELIMINATION; and they DID go to a spy prep high school. when i see them walking around in the halls, i usually see a flash of (messy too-long hair, half listened to science podcasts, a colorful assortment of button up shirts). when itâs the (leo)âs birthday on 08/17/1994, they always request their DUNGENESS CRAB ROLL from the schoolâs chefs. looks like theyâre well on their way to graduation. / @gallagherintro
sigh...well here he is
may or may not deserve rights, iâm undecided
liam is a legacy đ and he doesnât hate the spy thing (like some ppl...) but he doesnât feel very passionate about it either. he enjoyed prep school mostly because of his classmates and he gravitated towards the threat elimination side of things naturally, so thatâs what he focuses on and everything else kind of just...falls to the wayside
frankly he should be doing r&d too but he doesnât love every aspect of it so he was like pass lol. liam loves thinking about theoretical physics and things that arenât as tangible as like. spy technology lmao. he has astrophysicist who went to school for philosophy energy
he went to blackthorne for two and a half-ish years? once he found out it was actually a school for assassins he decided to drop out, AND YEAH I KNOW HEâS DOING THREAT ELIMINATION BUT!! being good at something in theory and having to kill someone just to graduate is simply not the same so donât!!
liam has had an easy life with his giant spy family, and his parents and grandparents etc donât care that much how he does the spy thing as long as he gets there eventually. his grandfather is the one traditionalist who thinks heâs been a lil bitch about this whole thing but they barely see each other anyways so who cares! theyâre like heâs an annoying shit but heâs our annoying shit <3
basically iâm saying he didnât even have anyone from his past to kill lolol
he didnât tell his family or any of his classmates before dropping out because the ones who were his year knew and chose to stay (yes this is a callout post for upperclassmen blackthorne boys ya nasty) and ofc his family knew too, theyâre a bunch of dirty olâ blackthorne alums!!
he got his inheritance when he turned 21 so he was financially stable on his own (his family didnât actually disown him but they were mad about him not even finishing the year like tf lol. and he didnât talk to them for like a year after bc he was like whatâs the vibe bro idk lmao). he spent the next few years just traveling around and seeing the world and pm just putting off his future because he still didnât have any aspirations outside of the spy world
when blackthorne closed he was like oh sick then gallagher said theyâd accept boys and he was like oh sick??? so here he is lmao
liam is chill and he kind of...cares about his classes um...he gets decent grades but unlike literally all of my other characters, he doesnât really study, he does enough to get by and he pays attention in class and takes notes although they are illegible to anyone but him. tbh he should be a doctor bc he has the penmanship down!

âWell, that we already knew,â she huffed, but sheâd be lying if she said she wouldnât miss his antics. She bristled at his joke, if only because he could have very well come close to it this year, but laughed it off anyway. âYouâre a bad modern human. Your phoneâs your key to everything now, yada, yada, yada, answer the phone!â she finished, knowing he didnât need her to explain the new age of technology, but she did want to whine.
"Gallagher really has gone to the dogs,â he agreed with a shake of his head. Standards did seem to be lower though he wouldnât consider himself a slacker and he was good at what he did. âOkay, I promise to answer! ...After, like, the tenth time you try calling.â Liam was pretty sure modern humans rarely spoke on the phone, anyways! âMaybe Iâll assign a special Vida ringtone so I know not to ignore you specifically. What are you feeling, Ride of the Valkyries?â When in Rome (or Berlin).
âi guess the restaurant isnât the only thing that hasnât changed.â a warmth in her chest blooms at his smile that makes her wonder if it wouldâve been this easy to be friends during the school year as she returns it in full. mari knows deep down that it wouldâve, and she regularly faces the guilt that sheâs the one that stopped it when she thinks about liam. maybe they could try to regularly get food on purpose or revisit some of their favorite spots on a free weekend for old timeâs sake- though it could be weird to propose going to places that theyâd had dates as just friends now, and she wouldnât want to make things awkward by bringing it up. âwe could always spar over the table and give everyone a show with their meal.â itâd certainly be a sight. âthatâs so fun!â she imagines sheâd love being paired with vida. not that sheâd trade maddox for anything, she just is going to miss the other girl like crazy when sheâs gone. âwell, if they ever kick you out or you get lonely because sheâs gone, you have my number,â she offers, a more casual alternative to bringing up regular meals or revisiting familiar sights. ânot that i donât think you have other friends, but iâm here.â sheâs trying, painfully so, and sheâs sure it shows. âit wasnât too bad! lots of family time with riz and my parents, and jas visited so bonus family time. i had daily study sessions with jo and picked up more german, too, so i wonât have to use tons of hand gestures when i go out in public this time around.â sheâs not sure if liam will remember jo, seeing as sheâd only briefly mentioned her name when sheâd asked him to drop her off down the hall from her dorm the night of the party, and thatâs not exactly the best way for him to remember (as mariâs very drunk friend that she was reluctantly checking up on), but it is how the night went. âwhatâd you do over break?â
"thereâs no improving upon perfection,â he comments, a bit off-handedly, but thatâs no secret. after spending a year at gallagher, he can confidently say she fits the gallagher girl mold but itâs amazing how she can be so kind-hearted and considerate while sharing his major and focusing on the more aggressive specializations. âi think fighting in the middle of restaurants is frowned upon. otherwise, you know iâd totally be down.â heâd sooner give her what she wants just because she asked. âsheâs not around all the time, because of the aforementioned boyfriend thing, but sheâs an awesome roommate.â thereâs probably a reason he liked living with mostly girls the previous school year, even if one of them had a cat from hell. though with blackthorne as his most recent point of comparison, the bar is low. âthanks, um...iâve actually been wanting to revisit a few places but it felt weird going alone and it feels weird to...but if you want to.â he doesnât want her to agree just to agree but itâs implied she can say no, though... âi get it if itâs weird.â they really havenât been back in the same orbit, actually talking, for long at all. they spent a lot longer not speaking to each other at all. honestly, heâs not the kind of person to dwell on the mention of prospective romantic partners. âdid you go to the beach at all? you still have to let me teach you how to surf.â it was a joke, sort of, something theyâd talked about without either really believing it would happen, though he had never actually intended for their relationship to end as abruptly as it had. âhung out with my family, so same. went to kyoto for like two weeks and flew straight here from there. have you told your parents about anything that happened last semester?â sheâs more honest than he is, plus one of her friends had gotten hurt.
âWhen we moved here my dad made it a point to learn a bunch of idioms to use during his business meetings.â she shrugged with a small laugh, acknowledging the silliness of it. Regine contemplated his reasoning, âIâŚcanât disagree. I just feel like the work is disproportionate to the amount of planning it must have taken to organize this for everyone.â she debated, and knew anyone reasonable would ask why she was complaining. Rei nodded to Liam as a way to agree with properly meeting him without having to outright say it. âI guess me too. I have a few people I like, a few I really like, and the rest I just try to be friendly. As much as I can.â She went to speak, and laugh, and retort his reading of her, but mostly her mouth just parted, closed, and parted again before she looked over and grinned. âOkay.â she said plainly, âThatâs fair. UhâŚdĂśner? Schnitzel?â Regine shrugged, feeling like she ought to give him options at the least.Â
"And that...works for him?â He asked with a laugh, because somehow he couldnât picture that being as effective as her father seemed to think. âAnd insulting for our skill level, and the groups are clearly based on specialization and not experience. I feel like people of the same specializations should be together, and same years, too. Itâd make sense to do it the way they did it if we were ever gonna have to work together on a mission or something, but...â It was just a bummer after nearly a whole semester of cancelled missions. âSounds like you donât have any enemies.â Neither did Liam, that he knew of? âSo not a vegetarian, noted,â he commented with a smile. âOption number one, please.â
SHE THINKS ITâS FOUL PLAY⌠IT DEFINITELY SHOULDNâT COUNT, AT LEAST. â well, in a tournament or something you wouldnât have people just walking in and obstructing you, so.. â she shrugs, she didnât know how the game worked in an official sense, if it even had one. â i canât tell if 27 is high or not but iâm pretty impressed. â she nods, not one to admit that so easily to people who she wasnât super close to but she really doubts sheâd pass even five shots. â that makes me sound like a loner, â which she was, but sheâll deny it. â itâs totally fine, i canât say my company will be as entertaining as .. this. â she gestures to the bin. â but iâm buying, so. â
"a tournament...like, in the office? we should do that.â he wonders if the higher ups would even notice. itâd hardly even distract from their so-called duties. âletâs go with high then, thank you.â liam has been at it for a while so heâd consider it fairly impressive. âor like you enjoy the company of people, but from a distance.â admittedly, heâs not sure what thatâd mean, they wouldnât even be able to talk to each other. âokay, well, i feel comfortable saying youâre more entertaining than throwing trash away,â he says breezily, because thatâs how he ended up playing bin basketball in the first place.

âYou know what I meant,â she groaned, throwing a stray makeup brush his way. She didnât even look to see if it landed, because with her aim it would, but hopefully with his own skills, heâd either catch it or swat it away so what was the point? Simply to annoy him back. âI will definitely give you second tier, I could see that.â That time, she did turn around back to him to offer a childish, but she wouldnât say whatâs on her mind, and that of course sheâd worry because heâs like family. It was simply too sappy. âWhy are boys like this? Like, itâs 2020, answer the phone, it wonât kill you! And I will blow up your phone, thank you!â
"Did I? Maybe Iâm just extremely stupid, Vida.â He dodged the brush, easily knocking it away, and even went to pick it up for her. Jokeâs on her, now sheâd probably have to clean it. âThank you. Maybe Iâll be killed in a few years if Iâm lucky.â Itâs dark humor, but after everything theyâd gone through, and experienced in their own families, it was an easy coping mechanism. âBecause Iâm not attached to my phone 24/7, Iâm a bad millennial.â Though Gen Zâs probably worse, right? âYou better, âcause Iâll remember this.â
âi  asked  you  first.â  truthful  and  a  fact.  âand  i  wanna  know  your  thoughts  on  it,  is  all.â  briar  doesnât  really  know  why  theyâre  roommates  when  emmett  is  right  there,  but  sheâs  not  going  to  be  weird  and  ask  that.  itâs  just  a  simple  question,  so  answer  it,  liam!  âwait,  how  long  have  you  known  each  other?  i  didnât  know  about  that.â  arms  crossed,  as  if  sheâs  offended  it  wasnât  said  before.
"but you lived with her first? but fine.â what does she think heâs gonna say? it almost feels like a trap though he canât imagine why. âlike, forever?â he doesnât know the answer because with spy families, you meet the same people on and off throughout the years, often forgetting when and where you first met, and eventually, sometimes, you actually become friends, like him and vida. âour families run in the same circles.â
âThey can hear me, but theyâd know they havenât done anything to warrant me calling them an asshole,â she pointed out. âAnyway, you can breathe and rest, it was not directed at you.â It was mainly for him to just stop clarifying.. Mira liked ice cream so at least that topic was way better. She needed to not think of the biker. âHokey Pokey? Thatâs an interestingly weird name. Not what Iâd expect for a ice cream parlor to be called. But as long as it serves good ice cream, who cares, I guess.â
"I mean...I could have accidentally stepped on your foot. In which case Iâm sorry. If I had.â He would hope, if it was a situation where heâd made an honest mistake, she wouldnât call him an asshole, but who knows! âYeah, has that song been about ice cream this whole time? What would you name an ice cream shop? Personally, I think puns are the only way to do it. Like, Fly the Scoop! And the logo is an ice cream scooper with wings.â
â  đđđ  đđđđ  đđ  đđđđ  đđ  đđđđ  đ  đđđđđđđđ  đđđđđđđ . â  and sheâs drunk enough that thereâs not really a lot of âŚÂ oomph in her statement .   â iâm a grown woman ,  liam .  you should . â
ânot usually! not one iâm that concerned about.â liam kind of steers clear of delilah, itâs called self-preservation. he knows jude would never be his...not-enemy if they hadnât been roommates. âadults fuck up all the time and i think weâd know that better than anyone.â any legacy kid can attest to that.

â  đđđđđđđđđđđđđ  .  đđđ  ,  đđ  đđ  đđđđ  ,  đ'đ  đđđđ we could get away with eating in front ?  like outside ? ooooh ,  or maybe the rooftop is open . â  at least she was open minded .   â uhm ,  yep !  someoneâs birthday .  or maybe theyâre looking for an excuse to drink .  but that would be great ! â Â
"like, lean against the building? sit on the steps? ...do we have clearance to go up there?â because that sounds good to him. not that he doesnât love being looked at by passersby while eating outside his place of work. âwell, itâs an excuse you can only use once a year so might as well make it count, huh? sure, no problem. did they ask for drinks from a specific place?â
âMy dad always says âif you have time to lean you have time to cleanâ, and âworking hard or hardly workingâ, and basically any other painfully cliche idioms that make you want to punch your boss.â she grinned only slightly, still pressing on the idea that there was always more work to be done. âValid. You think theyâd give us something a little more challenging if they were going to fly us all out to BerlinâŚfor paperwork.â she shrugged, placing the papers down on the nearest surface in a clean and organized manner. âI definitely will.â she put her hands on her hips. Not feeling the need to clarify what they both knew, that their mutual connection was Mari, Rei responded with a simple âYep, thatâs me.â Shrugging, she spoke candidly, âHonestly not too much. I hung out with Juliet for a day, but itâs not really in my nature to seek out friendship. And you? I donât have the patience to invite anyone, what are you in the mood for?âÂ
"I didnât know people actually said that in real life.â Suffice it to say, Liamâs father didnât speak in cliches, at least not American ones. âWell, hey, free labor is free labor for them. And a free trip is a free trip for us. So, if you think of it that way, itâs a win/win situation.â Liam wasnât super enthusiastic about spy training but he wouldnât mind a challenge. âWell, nice to properly meet you.â Somehow this hardly felt like a proper meeting ever, but getting lunch together was a pretty friendly activity. âSorta...same? I might be what you call a social floater.â Dropping out of school for two years certainly hadnât helped. âNo offense, but I feel like whatever I say here is gonna be the wrong thing.â She just seemed like the type of person who always knew what she wanted.
âoriginally, that had been my thought, but you canât get dessert without a meal first, and a meal without an appetizer just seems wrong.â especially when she knows the appetizers here are so good, and liam is well aware of that, too, so he should be just as on board to split one. âbut would you make it easy? thatâd take all the fun out of it.â he probably would if she were to genuinely ask, always the chivalrous one, and then sheâd have to eat alone which would not be fun knowing heâs right there. âitâs nice to know i wasnât the only one,â she smiles at him because it is. this was the first location she put on her little checklist of places she needed to go again while in the city as opposed to the ones that are labeled want to revisit and if iâm super bored and the other lists are completely crossed off because we magically had way too much down time. âhowâs your hotel? or your roommate? i never even asked who you paired up with.â she flashes a sheepish look. âi guess i havenât really been keeping up with staying in touch.â
"so you came here for one part of a meal and now you want all three? that sounds more like the mari i know.â he smiles softly because he likes that she hasnât actually changed, in certain ways, and he can still claim a certain amount of familiarity with her. âno...i canât imagine what would convince me to move right now.â if she moved tables, in theory, but he wouldnât follow her around the restaurant if she wanted to be alone. and part of him still worries that she prefers distance, even if they finally talked everything out. âtotally did not think youâd come back but, i mean, iâm glad you did. right now, in particular. iâm fine with eating alone but nothing beats you as a dinner buddy.â mari is one of those rare people who can expertly balance the meal part of eating together and conversation. âour hotel is really damn nice, honestly. but my roommate is vida, so it kind of adds up,â he comments with a laugh, as if vida had anything to do with their placement. âshe has a boyfriend so itâs kind of weird but i think distance from someone can be a good thing sometimes. no,â he admits softly, but he still canât fault her for that. âdid you have a busy break?â
âThatâs good then!â she decides, even though it really has nothing to do with her. Sheâd just happy two can be friends now. âPretty big ego there thinking youâre at the top of their list,â she joked back. âBesides, Iâd like to blame us graduating separate years on you, but you donât see me complaining! Iâll just spend every day on the job wishing and hoping that my dear, sweet Liam is doing well and not letting the underclassmen show him up,â she sighed dramatically, clutching one hand to her chest before shooting him a playful grin. âOh, and if you forget to text me back and stuff Iâll be the one coming back to whack you.â
âHer going back to avoiding me?â He asked, just to be annoying, because he knew what she meant. âI mean, come on, Iâm not at the bottom. My familyâs been in the game too long for me not to be at least a second tier target. We canât all be top tier.â Being a Threat Elim major made it easier to joke about stuff like that, probably. âThe fact that youâd even have to worry about that...â He sighed back, shaking his head. âSorry, Iâm not the best texter! Blow up my phone so I know itâs real.â
âDid you just nearly knock me down with your bicycle?â she questioned sarcastically, unable to see why in the world he seemed to think she was talking to him in the first place. âWho knows if you did something else, though. I wouldnât.â She shrugged before letting out a sigh. âNational Ice Cream Day sounds way better.â
"No, but you know, when you think out loud like that, other people can hear you. And I didnât see you almost get run over by a bike.â How was he supposed to know what she was referring to?? âIt did inspire me to Google a few places in Berlin. Thereâs a place called Hokey Pokey that I like because--well, mainly because I can actually remember the name.â

she  doesnât  know  much  about  liam  ââ  forget  the  fact  that  heâs  vidaâs  roommate  (  which  ???  confusion,  because  emmett  )  but  thatâs  besides  the  point.  itâs  also  their  point  of  common  ground,  so  the  brunette  slinks  over  to  where  he  is,  arms  resting  on  the  counter.  âhowâs  rooming  with  vida?â  seemingly  pretty  well,  if  what  she  can  tell  from  the  adjourning  room.
"shouldnât i be asking you that? you have more experience with it.â though he knows itâs not the same when thereâs basically one bed and only two people instead of four. heâs kind of surprised more of her roommates havenât interrogated him (theyâre apparently the type). âitâs great, since sheâs great. it helps that weâve known each other for a long time. plus, this hotel isnât half bad either.â
âYou must be so proud.â Regineâs voice was part dry and part mocking, but the simper on her lips showed an air of playful humor that was common for her. She hadnât learned until age fifteen how to appropriately talk to people, so she settled for making everything she said seem ambiguously lighthearted. âI donât eat, I only work.â she spoke without hesitation, before letting her face ease into a grin, âAbsolutely kidding.â Looking down at her papers, âHm, guess I couldâŚmake copies later. I could eat. Did youâŚâ Regine pointed behind herself with her thumb, âI mean, you were suggesting we grab lunch, right? Youâre Liam, I think weâve met in passing.âÂ
"Not really, I was trying to do it slowly.â Because he knew that finishing his work would lead him to where he was now aka boredom aka left with nothing to do. âThat mindset would be less scary if this was actually a highly demanding internship,â he said with light chastisement, going along with the joke, as he saw it. âYou definitely could.â He nodded, as if she needed the additional encouragement. Of course Liam knew who Rei was, though it made sense she might not know much about him. âYes and yes. And youâre Rei. Have you made any friends in your internship group yet? Feel free to invite whoever.â He hadnât, really.
