Girl, sending this as an ask so that other curious-minded people can see your answer; what ships to you like or find interesting outside of Bangel? And are there ANY other ships from any fandoms that you actively ship? xo
Ok so ships I like and find interesting in the buffyverse, outside of Bangel: Angel/Darla is probably my top pick. 10/10, no notes, perfection in every way. I really like Wesley/Lilah, I like both Willow/Oz and Willow/Tara during their eras, and I enjoy Gunn and Fred, but I’m not TOO invested in any of them in a lasting way.
I will say, I think there are interesting aspects in almost all the ships in the buffyverse to some degree, and I do like that most of them don’t devolve into a repetitive mess like in other shows, but I don’t really find myself overly invested in most of them after their time has passed.
As far as other shows….the thing is that I’ve watched a ton of shows all the way through as they were airing, like the vampire diaries, one tree hill, gossip girl, supernatural, scandal, greys, etc. but I don’t think I’ve ever really seriously shipped any couple and I’ve never actually rewatched any of those shows to see if I would now? I always found myself getting very disinterested in them by the time the show ends. It all becomes kind of repetitive, I find LOL
So maybe I’ll tell you how I felt about certain ships at the time that I watched certain shows!!!
The Vampire Diaries: The closest, from what I remember since I’ve never rewatched, would maybe be Bonnie/Enzo, Caroline/Klaus, I did like Elena and Stefan for a time but I think that was me projecting my bangel love onto what I thought was the equivalent. But idk, everyone dated everyone on that show and I stopped taking any of it seriously after a while tbh
One Tree Hill: I remember being super into Brooke/Lucas for a while but that got annoying. As far as other ships, I don’t remember so they can’t have been that memorable 😂😂
Scandal: fucking HATED Olivia/Fitz, chemistry was fire but my god they were SO INSUFFERABLE. Olivia/Jake was okay for a time but I feel like they did weird shit with his character 💀
Supernatural: were there even ships on that show? Idk lol it wasn’t something that I cared about.
Gossip girl: couldn’t stand Chuck Bass and any time he would so much as stare in the direction of any woman. I remember liking Dan and Serena for a minute but that was meh after.
Grey’s: I think most of the relationships in the first few seasons were well acted and I did find myself getting invested as the stories were unfolding but this is a show where it just becomes so repetitive and predictable and it’s just really hard to care after so many seasons lol
Yellow Jackets: Don’t really care for any ships on that show, too busy watching all the insane shit that happens 💀
Suits: also just meh. The ships felt repetitive and predictable.
Harry Potter: I DID, in fact, read a SHIT ton of Harry/Hermione fic in my youth.
I am currently rewatching Stranger Things (just finished season 2) and I’m finding myself kinda into the whole Nancy and Johnathan thing? I think it makes sense for a while and I actually really love their breakup. I think it’s a very realistic relationship between two teenagers with shared trauma who eventually outgrow each other and end things by coming to a place of mutual understanding. It’s like they needed each other for that time in their lives, but they both realize that they’re no longer on the same path and that’s okay. It’s very honest and interesting. Another good ship on that show is Max and Lucas. Season 2 is the very beginning of that whole thing but I am VERY excited to rediscover them.
I can’t think of any more right now so I hope this was illuminating enough haha but I think I’m just not really much of a shipper, or I guess it just takes alot for me to get invested in a ship in a long term way 😂💗
